Realm of X is a 2023 comic book limited series from Marvel Comics.

The series, set in the shared Marvel Universe, is part of the wider X-Men franchise and the Krakoan Age saga running through those books. It follows on from the 2023 Hellfire Gala special, which launched the new Fall of X arc.

The series stars a mix of characters from previous series: Magik and Dani Moonstar, Dust, the villainous Typhoid Mary and the powerful mutant child Curse.

After an attack by the anti-mutant extremists of Orchis, the mutant nation of Krakoa has fallen. To save lives, most of Krakoa's population was sent through portals to a safer destination. For this particular group of mutants, that's somehow stranded them in Vanaheim, home to the allies of the Norse gods of Asgard.

And the prophecies of Vanaheim have been waiting for their arrival.

The first issue was released August 23, 2023.

Realm of X contains examples of the following tropes:

  • Art Shift: Issue #3 changes the art style to a more Animesque one.
  • Brought Down to Normal: For reasons yet to be revealed, Magik does not have access to any of her powers after arriving in Vanaheim (the reason is back in X-Men (2021), Magik was slightly wounded with a mutant-suppressing nanite harpoon from a Stark Sentinel).
  • Immune to Fate: The Vanir have foreseen the arrival of the mutants to their realm, but only know that they will be major players in a conflict they can not foresee the outcome to. This is because the conflict involves Curse on the other side, whose powers can only be perceived as causing indiscernible chaos in their visions.
  • Manipulative Bitch: Saturnyne for reasons unknown is making a move to conquer Vanaheim and she's planning on manipulating Curse into being her weapon in her plans. After covertly having her hurt herself using her powers for good, Saturnyne comes to offer her comfort from her pain. She later convinces Curse that she doesn't have any friends by telling her the other mutants are looking for ways to return home without her. Curse gets wise to Saturnyne's tricks after Magik finds her and tells her that she's being manipulated into getting whatever Saturnyne wants.
  • The Reveal: The 'White Witch' the Vanir are fighting is Saturnyne, who'd previously clashed with the Krakoans in X of Swords.
  • Taken for Granite: The trolls who try to eat Curse in the first issue get reduced to a heap of troll-shaped rocks by her power. They're still alive and able to speak, even when Saturnyne lifts a head from the pile to chat to it.
  • Wouldn't Hurt a Child: Curse and Typhoid Mary have both done some pretty dark things, leaving a trail of disasters and bodies behind them. But when nobody else can step in to be the hero, neither is prepared to let an innocent child die.
