DC: Love is a Battlefield is a collection of love and romance-themed stories featuring various couples from The DCU. It was written by an assortment of writers and released on February 9, 2021, ahead of Valentine's Day.

List of stories:

  • "Perfect Matches": Catwoman takes Batman as "Matches Malone" to the wedding of Maxie Zeus, attended by a literal murderer's row of supervillains.
  • "Bittersweet": Wonder Woman and Steve Trevor's dinner date is interrupted by an attack by Blue Snowman.
  • "Loose Lips": Perry White and Amanda Waller have a business meeting on Valentine's evening.
  • "A Tale of Two Titans": Wallace West and Emiko Queen prepare for their date.
  • "The Beginning": Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn recount their relationship.
  • "Together Forever": Hawkman and Hawkwoman are reminded of their own history when they board a spacecraft on a collision course with Earth.
  • "Anniversary": Apokaliptian Furies crash Big Barda and Mister Miracle's anniversary getaway.
  • "Ex-Position": Exes Nightwing and Starfire deal with some hostile sentient plants.
  • "Able": Sgt. Rock teams up with two men from Able Company to extract a German double agent for the French resistance.
  • "The Heart Wants": John Stewart's tether to Yrra Cynril brings him to the Star Sapphires.

Tropes:

  • Blatant Lies: Perry asks Waller what's going on in San Jacinto. She flatly says "human resources" while we see the Suicide Squad beating up mooks. She is equally nonplussed at Perry's accusation of lies.
  • Battle Couple: The Furies interrupt Scott and Barda's anniversary date, so they angrily take them on together.
  • Costume-Test Montage: Wallace puts on a number of atrocious outfits in successive panels in front of Avery, who complains that they're all bad.
  • Fake-Hair Drama: Riddler accuses Magpie of wearing hair extensions, which she vehemently denies.
  • Insecure Love Interest: Steve admits to Wonder Woman that he thinks she's only with him because he's the first man she saw.
  • Know When to Fold 'Em: Riddler and Penguin hightail it off the ship when they realize they're dealing with Batman and not two-bit henchman Matches Malone.
  • Samus Is a Girl: Played With. When Blue Snowman is unmasked Steve is surprised to see a person he assumes is a woman. Byrna Brilyant is non-binary, and the Snowman part ties into their gender representation.
  • Those Were Only Their Scouts: Starfire realizes that the small alien plants they were fighting were just children, and the "mother host" inside the building is a huge man-eating plant.
  • Together in Death: In "Together Forever" Hawkman and Hawkwoman intercept a spaceship on a collision course with Earth. They find it inhabited by a pair of alien lovers in stasis, experiencing space together as one last adventure.
  • Working with the Ex: Batman and Martian Manhunter independently assign exes Nightwing and Starfire to defeat some living plants. The tension is clear throughout their encounter, especially when the plant chemicals make them both admit there are still lingering feelings.
