The Lothrian Commonwealth

The radically collectivist and totalitarian Lothrian Commonwealth is the second largest human state in the galaxy. Its founding partisans created the Lothriad, a tome of law that dictates every action and word of its citizens.

    The Lothrian Commonwealth

As a Whole

  • Big Brother Is Watching You: As in the Empire, surveillance is omnipresent.
  • Dirty Communists: A very oppressive and authoritarian state with many parallels to real-life communist nations.
  • Expy: The Commonwealth combines totalitarian communist nations such as the Soviet Union or Maoist China with Oceania.
  • Newspeak: The Commonwealth tries to enforce this; the Lothriad forbids the usage of personal pronouns and names, and dictates what words and phrases are permitted. In practice, the upper partisans take the words of the Lothriad wildly out of context in order to say what they mean and secretly have proper names, while the lower classes don't even bother to pretend.
  • Replicant Snatching: Lothrian citizens are being kidnapped to be cattle and replaced with hermaphroditic homunculi.
  • Schizo Tech: While some of their technology is equivalent to that of the Sollan Empire, such as shields and space travel, their infantry are using old-school machine guns and missile launchers that can barely scratch a shielded Sollan legionnaire.
  • To Serve Man: For decades since coming under the influence of MINOS, the Commonwealth serves as a feeding ground for the Cielcin. This resulted in a massive population collapse.

The Grand Conclave

     Seventeenth Chair

Lorth Talleg

One of the leaders of the Lothrian Grand Conclave. Officially he, like all Lothrians, has no name, but members of the party ignore this stricture.

  • Just the First Citizen: The Seventeenth Chair is one of the two most powerful leaders in the Conclave and therefor the Commonwealth as a whole.
  • Majored in Western Hypocrisy: Lorth was trained by scholiasts in Teukros, within the Sollan Empire.
  • No Place for Me There: The Lothrian vision is one where all distinctions and everything of the past has been swept away. He acknowledges that they've been working on it for thousands of years and he's going to be dead long before it happens.

The Principalities of Jadd

Once part of the Sollan Empire, the Zoroastrian families of the outer Perseus arm broke away in ISD 11466 after they managed to liberate their genetic codes from Imperial control, allowing them to create their own heirs without the interference of the High College.

In the millenia since, the Principalities of Jadd have delved into the art of genetic manipulation to an even greater degree than the Sollan Empire, using their armies of cloned Mamluk soldiers to ensure their independence. Over that time, Jadd's relationship with the Empire has improved, as the two fought together against the Lothrians in the Persean war.

Royal Houses of Jadd

     Prince Kaim du Otranto

Prince Kaim

"Once, there was nothing, if the magi are to be believed. All of this-all creation- was hard won. By God, and by us. Besides! There is much light you cannot see."

Prince Kaim Sanchez Cyaxares Nazir-Vincente Olorin Ban Osroes Ban Aldia du Otranto, the Dark Moon, was grandson of High Prince Aldia du Otranto and a Maeskolos of the Second Circle.

  • Cool Mask: Like all Jaddian noblemen, he wears an articulated mask while in public.
  • King Incognito: He first met Hadrian as Ser Olorin, while disguised as a lowly bodyguard during his visit to Emesh.
  • Master Swordsman: As a Maeskolos of the Second Circle, Prince Kaim is one of greatest sword-masters in the galaxy.
  • Overly Long Name: As a prince of Jadd, Kaim's full name is almost as long as the Emperor's list of titles.
  • Real Men Love Ahura Mazda: Kaim is a very pious believer in the Jaddian religion, and believes that Hadrian has been chosen by God to free the galaxy from the Cielcin.
  • Royals Who Actually Do Something: Kaim takes to the field on multiple occasions to fight alongside Hadrian, much to the displeasure of his advisors.
  • Silly Rabbit, Cynicism Is for Losers!: His quote above is in response to Hadrian's lament that there was so much darkness in the universe. Despite it all, Kaim maintains faith in God and Hadrian himself.
