    Ash Ketchum

Birthdate: May 22nd

Residence: Kanto

The main protagonist of the series and the Chosen One. His goal as a competitive battler, is to reach and defeat Pokemon Master Red in battle. His Aura was unlocked when he accidentally released a Lucario from an ancient staff. He went to Dr. Young's laboratory, thinking he was challenging the Battle System. He was captured and got a concussion along with his memories painfully searched by the Mirage Master, before he destroyed the entire system with an aura sphere. A few years later, he, Brock and Dawn, May and Misty came to Alamos Town. The town was then cut off by Palkia and Dialga. And a Darkrai, who was trying to warn everyone, ends up giving Ash nightmares, and later on, tells Ash about what it means to be the Chosen One. Then, while traveling elsewhere in Sinnoh, they come across Leaf, and a Shaymin who poisons Misty. He Takes the annoying Pokemon to its flower garden, while on the run from Zero. He makes a few trips to the Reverse World, where he meets Giratina. Eventually he and Dawn end up having to save Giritina's life from Zero, and succeed. Even later on that year, while traveling with Dawn Brock and Misty, he ends up running into Gary, and Giratina, Palkia, and Dialga. Then Arceus comes to destroy humanity. Palkia and Dialga send them into the past, and they end up on an adventure in ancient Michina Town. A few years later, while traveling in Kalos, he is kidnapped by Team Rocket, sparking an adventure with almost all his friends, all while the world is falling apart around them. He is seventeen at the time of WTWE.
  • Adaptational Badass: Aside from Ash himself, who makes full use of his Aura powers here, several of his unevolved Pokemon note  have reached their final stages in this timeline.
  • Beginner's Luck: Though he did eventually get some training from Riley, most of what Ash does with his Aura is plain guesswork on his part. He did have some trouble early on when his aura would lash out angrily.
  • Blackmail: In Chapter 1, he tried to blackmail Misty's sisters so she would be able to leave the Cerulean Gym and spend time with her friends, which he blamed on Pikachu. His friends are both mortified and amused.
  • Confronting Your Imposter: Once Dawn brings them to the resistance in Sinnoh, the group realize that Richie has disguised himself as Ash so that they could get the prize money from Team Rocket.
  • Official Couple: With Misty.
  • Power Loss Makes You Strong: In THOL, Ash is unable to use his Aura because of metal bands placed on his wrist. This caused a lot of grief.
  • Related in the Adaptation: In When the World Ends, Ash learns that Pokémon Master Red is his father and Dawn is his half-sister.
  • Suspiciously Specific Denial: When his friends start teasing him about his crush on Misty, Ash loudly express his desire to go look for costumes.

It's never truly revealed if Daisy ever passed the test or not, leaving the knowledge of wether or not Misty is still the official gym leader unknown. Her goal is to become a Water Pokemon Master. When her boyfriend was traveling in Sinnoh, she would come out every so often and visit for a week. On one such visit, she was poisoned by a Shaymin. She almost died, but they managed to get to the Flower Garden in time for Leaf to administer the antidote. Another time she visited, she fell into frozen water, and Ash purposely let her miss a buss she needed to catch, causing the two to get into a serious fight. Then they were thrust into the past in order to keep Arceus from destroying the world. Though, both conflicts were solved in the end. She wasn't able to visit Ash in Unova or Kalos until the Kalos league. Unfortunately, she along with Delia, who came with her, were kidnapped by team Rocket. https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/brock_slate_1.jpg
Five years Ash's senior, he is around seventeen at the start of TMOA. Acting as an older brother to the kids he travels with, Brock enjoys cooking and doing the chores. Being the oldest of nine, he is exceptional at giving advise and being an overall shoulder to lean on. Originally wanting to be a pokemon breeder, his goal shifted over the coarse of traveling through Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh, and helping professor Ivy in the Orange Islands, to where he now studies to be a pokemon doctor. at the time of WTWE, Brock is twenty-two.
  • Big Brother Mentor: Whether it's with his younger biological siblings or his younger friends, Brock's got the advice, and he's got their back too.
  • Casanova Wannabe: Like in canon, Brock tries to woo the pretty ladies, to no avail as his friends would often try to intervene.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: Downplayed; the fact that he didn't go gaga over the thought of Misty's older sisters showed how amused he was at Ash blackmailing them. He also doesn't react to pretty women or the low-cut costumes provided, which makes Misty suspicious that he was distracted by something else.
  • Papa Wolf: Though not actually a father, he can be seen as this whenever one of his younger friends gets into trouble, from Misty being poisoned to Ash's recent panic attack, you can almost always count on Brock being there for his younger friends. And since the death of his parents, it's implied that he has become this once again for his younger siblings.
  • Promoted to Parent: Despite being their eldest brother, he has been looking after his younger siblings since their parents would keep abandoning them. He's become their sole caretaker for real after his parents died.
  • Strong Family Resemblance: Lampshaded by Bonnie.
  • Token Adult: Although not the best example of one, he can be seen as the most mature and level headed of every group he's been in. Not to mention that besides Tracey, he is the oldest of the main group.

Only for a Team Rocket to take over and the whole group, along with some others, to be moved by the league into Johto. He then goes along with Ash, who is once again, called upon to save the world. Often clashing with Ash as she is only a year younger then him, Iris has a passionate love for dragon type Pokemon.     Serena Paschall

Birthdate: August 15th

Residence: Kalos

Serena started out not really knowing what to do with herself, but she quickly found a dream in Pokemon Performing, leaving behind her previous, hated hobby of Ryhorn racing. • Scars Are Forever: In When the World Ends, Dawn sustains serious scars to her hands when she falls into a spilled pool of acid, although this is better than what might have happened to her if Jessie, James and Meowth hadn't stepped in.

Supporting

    Professor Oak

Professor Oak was born and grew up during the Kanto Civil War, and traveled to Johto to study Pokemon as something more then a tool for battle, or a weapon. While in Johto, he met Celebi and was thrust into the future, meeting Ash while there. He has since become the leading professor on Pokemon, worldwide. When his two children and daughter-in law-died, he was left to raise his only grandson, Gary. Professor Oak remains one of the few side characters who know about Ash's use of Aura.

    Delia Ketchum

Birthdate: Unknown

Residence: Kanto

The mother of Ash Ketchum, she used to go by the name of Yellow, and her original maiden name was Bosque, the nickname Yellow was what her mother originally called her. Though most people think of her as a gentle woman, when she needs to be, she can be terrifying, and possibly even dangerous, as shown by her knowledge of how to use a gun. She was the youngest of the original four legendary trainers, going in search of Red who had disappeared. Although, something appears to have happened to her in the past, leaving her unwilling to train Pokemon until her Mr. Mime came along. She spends her time gardening.
  • Retired Badass: She was once known as "Yellow", the youngest of the original four legendary trainers. Despite having become a mother, she's still quite capable.

    Drew Hayden

Birthdate: Unknown

Residence: Hoenn

Drew is May's age, and a coordinator as well. He is helping along with May, Solidad, and Harley to get supplies to refugees after the deaths of Hoenn's major legendary Pokemon, Kyogre and Groudon. He tags along with May to help Ash and his friends in WTWE, and after a few days, during a skirmish on a train they were riding, he falls off. He did end up dying, however, the combined power of Manaphy and Jirachi brought him back, and he was found by May and Max's parents. He and May appear to like each other, but May is as clueless as Ash was.

    Solidad

Birthdate: Unknown

Residence: Hoenn

Solidad is a coordinator, and older then May and Drew. She appears to have been friends with Harley for a very long time. The four coordinators, May, Drew, Harley, and herself, live in her home, and when Kyogre and Groudon are killed, she helps the refugees, and even offers her home to Ash and his friends. She is the one to warn them about their being wanted by team Rocket, and does her best to help them disappear. It is unknown what happened to her after the group left her home.

    Paul Wayland

Birthdate: Unknown

Residence Sinnoh

Paul is first introduced in WTWE, although he did clash with Ash and his friends when he first traveled through Sinnoh. He didn't agree with the way Ash and his friends were going about saving the world before saving actual people. His personality specifically clashes with Leaf, although he did manage to strike a nerve on an emotionally wrecked Ash, and almost get himself killed because of it. As far as we know, Paul is helping out people in Sinnoh at the time of WTWE.

    Jessie, James and Meowth
Ash's long-time 'frenemies', they play minor parts in each storyline, but their roles come to a head in WTWE, when Team Rocket and the other criminal teams make their final major power play.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: After so long essentially tolerating the larger-scale plans of the other villain teams, Jessie, James and Meowth finally defect to aid the heroes when Giovanni threatens to torture Ash and Dawn.
  • Related in the Adaptation: In WTWE, Jessie is revealed to be Giovanni's daughter, which justifies why he kept them on Team Rocket despite their mistakes.

Antagonists

    Giovanni
The long-time leader of Team Rocket, Giovanni's plans focus on using the Mirage system to replace the Legendary Pokémon with their artificially-created counterparts.
  • Greater-Scope Villain: Is preparing his plans since at least Ash's confrontation with Doctor Young during his time in the Battle Frontier, but only puts them into action while Ash is participating in the Kalos League.
  • Nice Job Fixing It, Villain: Madame Boss (Giovanni's mother) basically says this when she learns that Giovanni dismissed Meowth because he couldn't learn Pay Day, observing that Meowth's ability to talk to humans makes him far more valuable than the ability to use a particular attack.
  • Related in the Adaptation: In WTWE, it is revealed that Giovanni is actually Jessie's father, which justifies why he kept them around for so long.

    Doctor Young
He was once a researcher, but his unethical experiments got him imprisoned. His research license was revoked, and it is unknown how long he has been with Team Rocket. He is a mass murderer of both people and Pokemon, and the creator of Mirage Pokemon. In TMOM, he invited Ash, Misty, and Prof. Oak to his laboratory, where he tried to capture Prof. Oak to get his login for his research data, and after searching through Ash's memories, finally got the older man to put it in the system. This lead to Lance's arrival, and eventually his imprisonment. He was then broken out by Team Rocket, and has since resumed work on his Mirage System, and creating a Mirage Arceus.
  • Bad People Abuse Animals: His horrific treatment of Pokémon certainly qualifies.
  • Disney Villain Death: In When the World Ends, Young dies when he is pushed over a railing by Jessie after he is believed to have killed Meowth.
