Okeya Fuuta
Okeya Fuuta
"Me, I'm not a great student, and I'm a crappy athlete. But I have friends, and I have fun. I have my own little life. And right around when I die... I bet I'll have some big realization of my own. I'm an average person. But a spirit can benefit a lot from an average life, too."
Okeya Fuuta is an Ordinary High-School Student who has the ability to see ghosts. He struggles in school and can be self-centered and "bratty" at times, but also acts caring and thoughtful at times.
- Big Ol' Eyebrows: Fuuta has noticeably large eyebrows compared to other characters. This trait carries over to all his other incarnations as well.
- Book Dumb: Fuuta struggles greatly with schoolwork; this is ironic when compared to some of his past incarnations, who were markedly intelligent or wise.
- Distinguishing Mark: He has a birthmark on his left cheek which he usually covers with a bandage. This was given to him by one of Kouko's past lives.
- This also serves as his Reincarnation-Identifying Trait.
- Loss of Identity: As Fuuta relives his past lives, he begins to act like them, to the point where he even begins forgetting his own name. Fortuna later uses this to his advantage, pulling a Grand Theft Me and taking over his body.
- Love Confession: While trying to calm Kouko down after she begins crying, Fuuta accidentally confesses his feelings for her in the spur of the moment.
- Theme Naming: Fuuta's incarnations tend to have wind-based names.
- Tiny Schoolboy: He is much shorter than his classmates, aside from Umi.
Ishigami Kouko
Ishigami Kouko
Ishigami Kouko is a transfer student who believes that Fuuta is her enemy, stating that the two have been enemies in every past life. Her goal is to kill him and use her Spirit Circle to destroy his soul.
- Big Damn Kiss: Right before moving away in the final chapter, she steals a surprise kiss from Fuuta and declares that they will meet again, someday.
- Theme Naming: Kouko's incarnations tend to have rock-based names.
- "X" Marks the Hero: Kouko has a large, X-shaped scar on her forehead.

- Theme Naming: Tetsu's incarnations tend to have names associated with metal; an example would be Stihl (whose name is a corruption of the word "steel").
