Protagonists
Matteo Ramirez
- Involuntary Shapeshifting: As said on the main page, Matt REALLY doesn't like the idea of permanently becoming a magical creature. This is complicated further by the fact that his Nervous Wreck status causes him to spontaneously transform as his level of panic increases.
- Making a Splash: At current, Matt seems to have a mild preference towards Water magic.
- Nervous Wreck: Is self-described as one.
Tyson Hale
- Keet: Ty almost always seems to be in a cheery mood, a big contrast to the Nervous Wreck that is Matteo.
- The Lancer: He explicitly calls himself a sidekick in one chapter, and is perfectly aware that it's Matteo's adventure—but he's more than willing to help out when he can.
- The Nicknamer: Regularly calls Matteo by variations on his name. Mattatatata, Mattayonaise, and Matt Master 5000 are only a few examples.
- Stepford Smiler: While his Keet nature isn't entirely an act, there are moments where it seems that Ty is putting on a cheery front for Matteo's sake.
Gwendolynn Loradi
- Action Girl: Gwen is no stranger to danger. Not only does she wield a magic sword, she also happens to be quite handy with it—though a villain she confronts at one point implies that she is somewhat inexperienced. She still manages to hold her own in a pinch, though.
- The Hero: Due to a birthmark on the back of her hand, Gwen is The Chosen One, destined to save the world. Or so she believes.

- Dishing Out Dirt: The flow of Aether allowed ancient humans to manipulate earth...
- The Magic Goes Away... before a war forced five ancient mages to cut Earth off from the Aether and cast it into the void.
