    The Cat
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/simons_cat_0.jpg
The eponymous cat; a fat, complacent white British Shorthair who causes chaos for Simon when trying to be fed or get attention. He has a friendly rivalry with the kitten, a not-so-friendly rivalry with Jazz, and a huge crush on Chloe.
  • Afraid of Doctors: He's revealed to be afraid of going to the vet in "Off to the Vet".
  • Animals Fear Neutering: He's so horrified by the Kitten's explanation of his recent surgery that he passes out.
  • Big Eater: He's often seen acting up due to being hungry.
  • Character Tics: When hungry, he'll point to his open mouth.
  • Companion Cube: Is "friends" with Simon's garden gnome.
  • Hates Baths: To the point that he ran away when Simon bathed him in "Missing Cat".
  • Hollywood Tone-Deaf: When serenading Chloe, he sounds very warmly and off-key. Justified in that he's a cat and can't speak; he can only meow.
  • Jealous Pet: Initially, he was jealous of the kitten when Simon stroked him.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: He's demanding and gets into fights with Jazz and the kitten, but means well and loves his owner.
  • Nearly Normal Animal: He will occasionally make humanlike gestures with his front paws or meows in a questioning way, but otherwise acts like a regular cat.
  • No Name Given: He isn't named.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: He stops eating at home in Teddy's Tale (due to having figured out all the neighbors he can mooch food from), which causes Simon extreme distress.
  • Took a Level in Kindness:
    • "The Origin Story" reveals that as a kitten, he was much naughtier than he is now— he bit the pet store owner, was a loner and didn't really want to be adopted, was extremely destructive, and even peed on Simon's shoulder. Nowadays he's relatively social, doesn't attack humans very often, and can be destructive sometimes but by far not to the extent that he was when he was a kitten.
    • While he still holds a degree of dominance over the Kitten, he's grown to develop a Big Brother Instinct for him.

    Simon
Naturally, the cat's owner. A clumsy, unfortunate, but amiable man who lives alone with his two cats and his fish.
  • Author Avatar: He was based upon and named after the creator of the series.
  • Butt-Monkey: He often gets the short end of the stick due to his cats breaking his possessions or accidentally injuring him.
  • Kindhearted Cat Lover: He is, for the most part, very patient with his two cats.
  • The Klutz: Some of the mistakes he makes have nothing to do with his cats; he's just a bit uncoordinated.
  • Sick Episode: He spends "Bed Head" sick in bed with a vaguely-defined illness that seemed like the flu or a bad cold.

    The Kitten

Simon's other cat— a cheerful, fluffy kitten. He and the cat have a relationship similar to brothers— they fight sometimes, but get along other times.

    Chloe
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/1514637988_0.jpg
A female cat who both the protagonist and Jazz have crushes on, but who isn't really interested in either of them. Also eats butterflies.
  • Cats Are Superior: Known to be somewhat snobbish, especially when Simon's cat brings her prey he's caught.
  • Character Tics: Will literally turn her nose up when she's rejecting Simon's cat or Jazz.
  • Extreme Omnivore: Eats butterflies.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Turns her nose up at Simon's cat, but for the most part is actually a nice, amiable cat— she never seems to fight and she mostly just isn't interested in his advances.
  • Love Interests: Is the object of both the cat's and Jazz's affections.
  • Mrs. Robinson: In Lovestruck, Chloe flirted with Kitten and ate food with him which implied that she could be a cougar
  • Pink Means Feminine: Is one of the only two female cats and wears a pink collar.
  • Trademark Favourite Food: Her eating butterflies is a Running Gag.

    Jazz
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ce8b8d3bc619dc25bc1adc3681e5dd4c.jpg
A grumpy cat who Simon's cat doesn't get along with and who also has a crush on Chloe.
  • Hollywood Tone-Deaf: Much like the protagonist cat, he sings off-key when trying to serenade Chloe.
  • Sitcom Arch-Nemesis: Is Simon's cat's nemesis, but never really does anything bad besides growl and swipe at him.
  • Used to Be a Sweet Kid: In "The Origin Story", he's shown as a kitten behaving just as sociably as the majority of the kittens in the pet store, but now he's grouchy.

    Maisie
A tabby cat with an unrequited crush on Simon's cat.
  • And Call Him "George": One reason Simon's cat is scared of her is how rough she is while trying to express her affection.
  • Attention Deficit... Ooh, Shiny!: Simon's cat is able to escape by distracting her with a butterfly wing. After she realizes he's gone, she sighs in disappointment, only to get distracted again when her sigh moves the same butterfly wing.
  • Tiny Guy, Huge Girl: She's noticeably bigger than Simon's cat, something the latter finds intimidating.

    The Dog
The neighbour's Jack Russell, who is very bubbly. Unlike most cartoons about cats and dogs, he and Simon's cat get along fine, even if the dog does annoy the cat sometimes.
  • Dogs Are Dumb: Doesn't seem to be very smart, like in one video, he doesn't pick up on the fact that the cat doesn't want to play fetch.
  • Given Name Reveal: He wasn't given the names in the videos. However, in the mobile game apps Pop Time and Simon's Cat Dash, his name revealed to be Oscar
  • Keet: He's very energetic and loves to play fetch.

    Teddy
A former feral cat.
  • Earn Your Happy Ending: Simon's Cat tries this for him but it really doesn't work out, thankfully a chance encounter with a lady trying to paint her fence gives him the warm loving home he deserves.
  • The Woobie: As is common for a lot of feral cats. When Simon's Cat encounters him, he's starving, living in a cardboard box, eating grass when he can't find anything else, and on top of everything else his lone toy breaks. His home even gets crushed twice.
