     Miko Nakadai
An exchange student from Tokyo who got tangled up in the Decepticon-Autobot conflict when Ravage hid himself in her bag.
  • Adaptational Personality Change: Rather than adventurous and spunky like her mainverse counterpart, this Miko is more withdrawn and sensible.
  • Asian and Nerdy: Hails from Tokyo and is really good with computers. To the point where in Volume 2, she's become an expert at Groundbridge control and can teach Knock Out how to open portals.
  • Audience Surrogate: Serves as this, as the first human character to be introduced and the one with more realistic reactions to the madness around her.
  • Badass Bookworm: A computer-nerd, who not only takes surprisingly quick to alien technology, but managed to seriously injure Prowl.
  • Badass Normal: Even though she's merely a squishy human girl, her first altercation with an Autobot, Prowl, ended with her outsmarting and seriously injuring him.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: The more sensible blue to Jack's irresponsible red.
  • Nice Girl: She's pretty personable and friendly, if a little introverted.
  • Only Sane Woman: Between her and Jack, it's pretty obvious who's more aware of their situation.

     Jack Darby
A rebellious teenager who works at a burger joint in Jasper. He's a bit overenthusiastic, but his heart is in the right place.
  • Adaptational Personality Change: He's an energetic thrill-seeker, as opposed to his mainverse counterpart who was more responsible and grounded.
  • Aesop Amnesia: One would think he'd learn his lesson about running off and trying to "help" the 'Cons on their missions after two near-death experiences. Nope! Even a pretty thorough "The Reason You Suck" Speech by Airachnid isn't enough to permanently wrench his head out of the clouds.
  • Bully Hunter: He frequently gets in trouble at school due to his habit of beating up bullies.
  • Lethally Stupid: He almost gets himself killed by Autobots twice, yet it still doesn't seem to register with him that as a squishy human, he should not try to pick fights with huge Killer Robots.
  • The Load: Due to his bad habit of involving himself in the Decepticons' missions against their explicit orders, he often ends up biting off more than he can chew. It says something that both Volume 1 and 2 have him get captured by Autobots and in need of bailing out by the 'Cons.
  • Not a Game: Pretty much all the Decepticons give him that talk at one point because he keeps treating the on-going war like a fun, interactive action movie rather than the life-or-death situation it really is. It finally seems to get through his skull when Airachnid blows up at him about it in Volume 2. Even then, he still puts himself into the line of fire and watches in awe as Starscream and Cliffjumper duke it out in front of him and Fowler.
  • Reckless Sidekick: To Airachnid, frequently ignoring her orders to stay put and let her handle dangerous situations. By the climax of Volume 2, she's gotten sick of it and tells him off for his irresponsible behavior. While that does seem to pull him down to Earth for a while, it doesn't take long for him to fall back into old habits and disregard his safety in favor of gawking at cool Transformer fights.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: The reckless, fun-loving red to Miko's more sensible, quiet blue.

     Rafael "Raf" Esquivel
A shy kid who likes to draw animals.
  • Animal Lover: He likes studying and sketching animals. This is also what gets him caught up in the Decepticon-Autobot situation; he was sketching Ravage's holo-form and then followed it, Miko, and Jack to the spot they were supposed to meet up in secret.

     Special Agent William Fowler
The Decepticons' liasion to the American government, tasked with monitoring their activities and reporting them back.
  • Badass Normal: He holds himself well for a normal human pulled into a giant alien robot war. In Volume 1, his quick thinking allows him to put Wheeljack out of commission and save Knock Out from being poisoned with Dark Energon. In Volume 2, he manages to free himself from MECH captivity and helps Airachnid and Jack escape as well.
  • Big Good: Of a sort to the crew of the Nemesis. He's their main connection to their human allies in Unit:E and helps them keep their existence a secret.
  • Eagleland: As in the mainverse, a Type 1, being a proud patriot.
  • Innocently Insensitive: When first meeting Ravage, he assumed Ravage was the Team Pet, which Ravage was quick to correct him on.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Much of his screen-time is him chewing Megatron out and misblaming him for incidents the Autobots or MECH caused, but when push comes to shove, he's willing to vouch for the Decepticons. While he was furious to discover Miko, Jack and Raf aboard the Nemesis, he ultimately didn't report them to his higher ups and even defended Megatron when General Bryce suggested the Decepticons might be behind the breach of security in the Jasper military base.
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: Him deciding to go to Isaac Sumdac for a proper analysis of Dark Energon leads to him getting captured by MECH in Volume 2 and indirectly leads to Airachnid's and Jack's eventual capture as well.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: At the end of Volume 2, Knock Out gives him an earful about withholding the small sample of Dark Energon he managed to acquire from the Decepticons despite knowing how dangerous it was. Fowler defends himself by pointing out that giving an unstable substance over to someone currently hosting three children seemed like a bad idea to him.
  • Wrong Genre Savvy: While being shown around Megatron's crew's sunken spaceship in Volume 1, he remarks that names like "Decepticons" and "Nemesis" don't really inspire a lot of trust. If this were the main continuity, he'd be right to be suspicious, but since this is Shattered Glass, things are a lot more complicated than they first appear and the names are a definite case of Dark Is Not Evil.

     MECH

Silas/Colonel Leland Bishop

The head of Internal Security and the leader of the terrorist organization MECH. He's secretly working with the Autobots.
  • Code Name: When in his role as the leader of MECH, he operates under the code name Silas. He goes by his actual name of Leland Bishop in his main job as head of Internal Security.
  • Colonel Badass: Unlike his mainverse counterpart, he's still this, as his illegal activities haven't been discovered as of yet, allowing him to retain his high-ranking position in the military.
  • Embarrassing Nickname: Fowler takes to calling him "Sai", after meeting him as Silas, though he's unaware that Leland and Silas are one in the same.
  • Faux Affably Evil: Conducts himself as a Well-Intentioned Extremist striving for the technological advancement of humankind. In reality, he's little more than a power-hungry thug willing to go to any lengths to acquire new weapons' technology.
  • Hypocrite: Has the gall to imply the Decepticons are untrustworthy in Volume 1, when he himself currently acts as The Mole for Arcee and Cliffjumper. Downplayed, as he was most likely just saying it to draw attention away from himself.
  • Large and in Charge: He's noticeably bigger and more muscular than his MECH goons.
  • The Mole: He relays information about Unit:E to Arcee and Cliffjumper, in exchange for Energon and technology.
  • Would Hurt a Child: Punches Jack in the face in Volume 2 after the latter foils his attempt to shoot Fowler.

     Isaac Sumdac
The founder and CEO of Sumdac Systems.
  • Adaptational Heroism: Isaac's description from the original Animated Shattered Glass shows him to be a tyrannical mad scientist who took over Detroit and enslaved both the Autobots and Sari as his enforcers. His appearance here is directly based off his Shattered Glass design but his personality is more in line with the original Isaac, albeit more careless with potentially dangerous technology.
  • Fatal Flaw: Curiosity. His thirst for knowledge often drives him to do reckless things, with it being heavily implied that his own experiments were responsible for him losing his eye. It also blinds him to things like whether or not he can actually trust the people around him. All Silas had to do was wave around a piece of Energon in front of him and Isaac was pretty much sold, despite the fact that Silas had just kidnapped him and Fowler at gunpoint.
  • Mad Scientist: Prone to conducting extremely reckless experiments when something piques his interest. His lack of caution got him thrown out of Unit:E, which he's still bitter about.
  • Unwitting Pawn: MECH kidnaps him to make use of his genius intellect in Volume 2, though Silas makes sure to present them as Well-Intentioned Extremists afterward. Due to his scientific curiosity overriding his suspicions, Isaac is on board pretty quickly, without realizing just who it is he's just thrown his lot in with.
