Straw Misogynist: He seems like one at first, saying that he doesn't think a woman should fight.

Chivalrous Pervert: His opening scene in Estel's route includes him checking out the heroine's chest.
Dark Is Not Evil: He has black hair and wears dark clothing, but is one of the heroes.
Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Ray is not a pleasant person to be around, and he doesn't hold back in criticizing the heroine or anyone else. Nevertheless, he cares about the heroine more than he seems to and is a reliable companion in the other guys' routes.

Defeat Means Friendship: Like Arthur, she becomes friendlier towards the heroine and her companions in the best endings. One of the spin-off stories has her prepare some cupcakes and tea for the heroine as an apology for her behavior, but she and Ray think she's up to no good.
Gender-Blender Name: "Merlin" is a masculine name, but the character is female. The name is chosen because Merlin was the wizard from the Arthurian legend.
Stripperiffic: Her outfit is tailored so that it shows off her naval and breasts.
