    Maya

Maya

A young woman from Shell 2, who scavenges useful items from the junk piles. As a girl, her village was destroyed and her parents killed when the Chosen, the inhabitants of the topmost Shell, decided to bring their airborne conflicts to her peaceful home town.

    Grubb

Grubb

Maya's friend. A reclusive mechanical wizard who can turn the bounty of junk on Shell 2 into just about any machine he can think of. Grubb has the ability to repair things, which can be used in combat to heal mechanical/cyborg allies.

  • Brainy Brunette: A genius-level inventor and roboticist.
  • Cane Fu: His staff is his primary weapon, which he smacks enemies with.
  • The Engineer: He is good at fixing and tinkering with gadgets, and he is needed for certain paths that require technical skill.
  • One-Hit Kill: His "Repair" skill is one when used against enemy robots.

    Runner

Runner

Grubb's robot dog.

    Corgan

Corgan

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/septerra_core_corgan.jpg

A member of the courageous and dedicated Holy Guard, the protectors of Shell 3 and of the legacy of Marduk, Corgan is a skilled defensive sword fighter with a knack for diplomacy.

  • Church Militant: He is a member of the Holy Guard.
  • Headbutting Heroes: Corgan doesn't get along with Selina because of her role during the invasion of Wind City. Gameplay-wise, he may sometimes attack her instead of the enemy if both are in the active party.

    Led

Led

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/septerra_core_led.jpg

The young daughter of a great military leader, General Campbell, Led is a skilled mechanic whose preferred Weapon is a giant wrench. She has two artificial legs which are the result of an accident during military training. Ever since then, her father has forbidden her to fight for her country.

  • Action Girl: Led can kick ass with the best of them.
  • Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: Led exploits this trope, by acting as a young innocent cutie to random people in order to get some gifts. Some of those random people give a funny look once they realised she was a hit-and-run charmer. It doesn't work against the bartender who simply asks for ID.
  • Handicapped Badass: Led lost her legs in a training accident, but this doesn't stop her from being a competent combatant.
  • Headbutting Heroes: Doesn't trust Lobo.
  • Magikarp Power: She joins underleveled, but eventually catches up with the rest of the team.
  • Wrench Wench: Led Campbell is an excellent embodiment of this trope. She's a genius mechanic, her weapon is literally an enormous wrench, and she's so hot that total strangers will give her money or items.

    Selina

Selina

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/septerra_core_selina.jpg

One of Doskias’ generals and his lover, Selina is a dark, mysterious and powerful warrior with a knack for mystical Core Spells.

  • The Atoner: After her Heel–Face Turn.
  • Dark Action Girl: Spends a good length of time as one of Doskias' allies.
  • Face–Heel Turn: Briefly, when she saw Doskias almost getting killed by one of the good guys.
  • Headbutting Heroes: Does not get along with Corgan.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: She and Doskias stay behind to fire the Doomsday Device in the ending.
  • Hooker with a Heart of Gold: Selina used to be a prostitute working on the streets of Shell 1, until Doskias offered her a better life. While insanely loyal to him for this opportunity, she equally rebels against him for the harm he does to people generally believed to be considered mere insects by the entire Shell 1 population.
  • Kiss of Death: One of the skills she can learn.

    Araym

Araym

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/septerra_core_araym.jpg

Araym covers all facial features except his cold, piercing eyes. A thief and bounty hunter, he hates his country for turning its back on him when he returned from captivity, having lost his arms in the service of that country.

  • Arm Cannon: Literally. He's still able to do thievery with those limbs. And demolitions, which is how he supposedly got them in the first place.
  • Handicapped Badass: Lost his arms in a demolition accident. In spite of that, he is perfectly capable of fighting and stealing with his mechanical arms.
  • Mask Power: Araym is never seen without his mask, which conceals the lower half of his face.

    Badu

Badu

A mutant from Shell 7 that aids Maya in rescuing his comrades enslaved by Doskias.

    Lobo

Lobo

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/septerra_core_lobo.jpg

Once a mindless cyborg created to defend his country from marauding pirates, Lobo was found and rebuilt by a renegade mechanic after crash landing during battle. After acquiring free thought, he became a pirate, to fight against the very country that made him.

Other

    Doskias

Doskias

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/septerra_core_doskias.jpg
The main antagonist of the game.
  • Dark Messiah: A direct descendant of a past messiah, who's forcibly trying to unlock the gates to heaven.
  • Famous Ancestor: Doskias is directly descended from Marduk and Kyra, and his legacy gives him an elevated sense of purpose.
