Otherworlders

The following characters are those who were accidentally summoned to the new world alongside the heroes.

    Sendou Aki

Masato's older step-sister and a Childhood Friend of Ayase Miharu, Sendou Aki is the 13 year-old younger step-sister of Sendou Takahisa. Her mother Sendou Yuki remarried Takahisa and Masato's father after the former's messy divorce, with Aki becoming quite fond of her new older step-brother.

  • Awful Truth:
    • Rio is Amakawa Haruto, her biological older half-brother, in his previous life. Upon discovering this, Aki states that she would have preferred being kept in the dark.
    • Aki is the real reason why her parents divorced: she was the product an affair her mother committed and Haruto's father believed Aki was his daughter until he discovered it by the time she was four years-old, leading to the divorce, with Haruto going with his father and Aki staying with her mother. However, only Haruto was aware of the truth of the matter; Rio becomes reluctant to tell Aki as that might break her if she ever knew that she was the impetus for the divorce.
  • Broken Pedestal: Aki straight up admits that she looks up to Rio and wants to keep looking up to him, but her irrational hatred of her once beloved brother, whom she thought was the one who forsook her and their mother, contradict each other.
  • Sadistic Choice: Aki either helps Takahisa kidnap Miharu or not; either way, she'll damage her relationship between two of the most important people in her life. She decides to help him, though she obviously becomes torn inside.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: After the fallout of Takahisa's attempted kidnapping of Miharu, Aki is visibly distraught once she fully processes the magnitude of her actions by her assistance and clearly regrets it, realizing that it was by her hands, not Rio, her relationship with her "family" crumbles.
  • Ungrateful Bitch: After being saved by Rio from a caravan of slavers upon entering the new world, while taking care of her needs and helping her reunite with Takahisa, Aki repays it by supporting her step-brother in his kidnapping attempt and to get back at Rio for "destroying her family again".

    Sendou Masato

The youngest of the three Sendou siblings, Sendou Masato is one year younger than Aki and constantly argues with her. Masato can be surprisingly mature at dealing with things.

  • Badass Normal: His training with Rio and his continuous practice every day slowly turns him into this. This gets to a point where he can overpower Takahisa in a duel with sheer swordsmanship, such that the latter has to resort to using his Divine Weapon to score a win. Subverted by Volume 21 as he is summoned and chosen to be the new hero to replace Sakuraba Erika.
  • Character Development:
    • Masato goes from being a brat to a mature, level-headed boy, albeit still easy-going for his age, in a span of a few months. In fact, he grows up enough to not go in a panic like his two older siblings at the thought of being separated from each other as they'll have many opportunities to meet each other in the future.
    • He decides to go with Aki and Takahisa to the Centostella Kingdom, not because he wants to go, but due to a sense of responsibility to make sure his family doesn't go further down the wrong path.
  • Friendly Rivalry: Develops one with Arslan during his stay in Spirit Folk Village.
  • Teach Me How To Fight:
    • Masato asks Rio to teach him how to use a sword to protect his loved ones. Rio teaches him after warning him that learning swordsmanship in this world is different from a sport on Earth, that it might end up needing Masato to kill to protect himself and others and has him pass a Trial by Combat to see if he has what it takes.
    • While Masato does have second thoughts, he ultimately decides to stay with Rio to continue his training when given a choice to leave with Takahisa, as he's the best person around to teach him swordsmanship.
  • Ship Tease: With Princess Lilianna Centostella, who he admits that she's close to his type and even gets her to jokingly promise to marry him once he's older if she's still unmarried by then. This becomes poignant when she's also his companion when Masato is forcibly teleported to Galarc as he's summoned to be the next hero after Erika dies.
  • Superior Successor: Combined with Unexpected Succesor, Masato is chosen as a hero after Erika dies. Unlike the senior heroes, Masato has trained under a competent warrior and understands the values of the new world combined with his Character Development, making him more formidable than before.
  • You Remind Me of X: Shortly before leaving for Centostella, Satsuki Sumeragi notes that Masato's mannerisms is starting to resemble a certain someone (Rio). The very next scene shows that Rio's behavior around girls also rubbed off on Masato.

    Saiki Rei and Murakumo Kouta

Rei (left) and Kouta (right)

The high school friends of Rui Shigekura who were dragged with him and his girlfriend Akane, Saiki Rei and Murakumo Kouta run away from the Beltrum Kingdom to seek their chances away in this new world as adventurers. They later befriend Hiroaki and began working on a light novel with him, letting the then-depressed and homesick hero slowly move past his issues.

  • Foil: Kouta serves as one to Takahisa - the former is an Ordinary High-School Student who is dragged along with the latter to another world, who happens to be the hero, while the latter is chosen as a hero. Both boys also harbor feelings for a girl (Akane for Kouta, Miharu for Takahise) who happens to be infatuated with a more impressive male character than them. While Takahisa winds up snapping and pulls a heavy crime when his advances for the object of his affections are rejected, Kouta chooses to opt out from Rui and Akane, taking his chances away from their protection so he can move on from his feelings for Akane and not wallow in hate. Takahisa remains unrepentant of what he does to Miharu and continues to harbor hatred for Rio, while justifying what he did was right, whereas Kouta makes peace with Rui, who hopes that he can see Kouta again in the future.
  • I Want My Beloved to Be Happy: Kouta flees Beltrum as he doesn't want to be clouded with hate to Akane, his Childhood Friend, and Rui, who became a couple. Unfortunately, he doesn't voice it out at first, which is why Rui spends the entirety of Volume 12 of the Light Novel chasing him, with Akane being worried for Kouta and Rei. After Rui is defeated by Rio, Kouta is able to speak out his feelings to Rui; post-reconciliation, Kouta hopes the best for the couple and that he can face them again on better terms.
  • Those Two Guys: Rei and Kouta are always seen together whenever they show up on-screen.
  • Universal Translator: Averted; since they are summoned along with Rui and not chosen as heroes, they don't have the same power that automatically translates the other world's language. They overcome this by studying the language thoroughly, which becomes manageable to them as they were members of the foreign language club in high school.
