    Deegan Moya
The fourth king of the Kingdom of Dawn.
  • The Good King: The Kingdom of Dawn prospered under his reign.
  • Soap Opera Disease: Invoked. Whatever "The Purified Witches" did to him, it had him hanging on to life by a thread, requiring the constant attention of the "healing ability" of one of said "Purified". When Zero called them back to Hermes, he didn't last very long.
  • The Spook: The only time we see him, he's already been put into a coma by "The Church."

    Appen Moya
The fifth king of the Kingdom of Dawn, after his father died, thanks to the depravity of The Church.
  • Bad Boss: His subordinates, entertainers, etc. all walked on eggshells around him because he could snap and abuse them at a moment's notice, or no notice at all.
  • The Caligula: As bad as Timothy, if not worse.
  • Dirty Coward: The moment he found himself in trouble fighting First Army, he abandoned all his troops and banner-men, fleeing through an escape route only he knew about, and planned in advance.
  • Entitled Bastard: No matter the situation, or his own behavior, he still expects everyone to wait on him hand and foot with utmost loyalty. He can never understand why anyone would be ... hesitant.
  • Fantastic Racism: Despite knowing that The Church persecutes witches, he still hates all witches without exception for what the brainwashed Pure Witches did to him and his father.
  • Freudian Excuse: Watching his father turned into a living corpse by The Church, and then having his father's life hanging in the balance based on his own "good behavior" took an enormous toll, and when he snapped, the Pure Witches browbeat him into bed-wetting terror, which he never recovered from.
  • Freudian Excuse Is No Excuse: After being warned by Roland that the depravity of The Church does not in any way reflect on witches as a whole, he threw a tantrum and conspired to assault Graycastle. Was that ever a mistake.
  • Hair-Trigger Temper: He's incredibly easy to piss off. The moment even the tiniest thing doesn't go his way, "traitor! deserter! Execute him!" Even when things are going his way, those around him are still not safe.
  • I Reject Your Reality: He's firmly convinced that he's a good king, no matter what the empirical evidence says. All his bad decisions and setbacks are clearly because someone else is actively sabotaging him. There is no other explanation.
  • Incompletely Trained: Deconstructed. He clearly was not ready to take the throne when his father died, and he made one bad decision after another as a direct result.
  • Mistreatment-Induced Betrayal: He's shocked that the Three Great Families rebelled against him, despite the fact that he utterly treated them like crap, shouted them down when they dared voice any opinion that didn't align with his, and put Otto Luxi in a dungeon to use as a hostage.
  • Never My Fault: He blames Roland, the church, and witches for all his bad decisions.
  • Psychopathic Manchild: His reign was just one childish temper tantrum after another.
  • Revenge Before Reason: The primary goal of his entire reign was to get back at The Church, and all witches without exception for what The Church did. Anybody who dared disagree was branded "traitor" and suitably punished.
  • Suicidal Overconfidence: He believed his own press that Roland is some backwater hick who couldn't do anything without his support, and would be a push-over if his army marched in force upon Graycastle... To say he was wrong would make the term "understatement" an understatement.
