"Good embers, I don't get any respect."

A red, rotund volcano dragon residing in the caves nearby a village. Makes a pittance out of charging the villagers for his fire, much to his chagrin.

  • The Big Guy: Definitely fits this role in the group, alongside The Leader
  • Butt-Monkey: Suffers the fallout for alot of Roko's antics, alongside being constantly short-changed by the villagers. Not to mention being stuck in the body of a Quetz princess against his will.
  • Color Motif: Has a fair temper, and is a brilliant shade of red.
  • Dude, Where's My Respect?: As a glorified lighter to the village, he feels he is lacking the respect owed to a Volcano Dragon
  • Fat Slob: Not as severe as some cases of this trope, but he has gotten to the point where his wings don't actually work.
  • Fighter, Mage, Thief: Definitely the Fighter.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Brand can be quite caustic and bitter, especially when it comes to Roko. Though obviously he cares for him, if his reaction his death is anything to go by. Later he spends time to save a dying forest by learning to make rain using Saida's body even though doing so is difficulty and very tiring for him.
  • Rage Breaking Point: After having put up with Roko's antics for far too long, and suffered for them, he is understandably very pissed off to find out the magical artefact to put him back in his own body is lost in the wildnerness, and unleashes a truly deserved "The Reason You Suck" Speech onto the kitsune.
Brand: Do you have any idea what you've done?!
    Roko: ...eh?
Brand: I saw you jump in between us! YOU messed up the spell! THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT!
Roko: Hey now, I'm sure it was just...
Brand: Just what? You think Saida did it?!
Roko: No! No, not at all!
Brand: AND BEFORE WITH THE WINGS TOO! YOU ARE A DISASTER! EVERYTHING YOU TOUCH GOES UP IN FLAMES!
Roko: We can still find the eye thing and...
Brand: IT IS LITERALLY EASIER TO FIND A NEEDLE IN A HAYSTACK! THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT! 'WORTHLESS! YOU ARE COMPLETELY WORTHLESS!'
  • Small Name, Big Ego: Clearly thinks he deserves more respect than he has. Not that he may actually deserve it.
  • Straight Man: To Roko

"Shiny."

A kleptomaniac kitsune and 'friend' of Brand, to whom he owes a debt.

  • Asian Fox Spirit: A kitsune with three tails, though he looks like a fennec rather than the usual red fox.
  • Chaotic Stupid: A kleptomaniac without an ounce of restraint.
  • Fatal Flaw: Greed. He just can't keep himself from anything shiny. An abrupt decision to try and seize an extra tail during Saida's ritual gets himself killed.
  • Fighter, Mage, Thief: Definitely fits the Thief role, with a slice of Mage thanks to his shapeshifting.
  • Kleptomaniac Hero: From baubles to balloons, if it's shiny, he will steal it.
  • The Lancer: To Brand
  • The Millstone: His own greed and lack of any restraint is the direct cause of the stories plot, and many problems that Brand understandably dislikes him for. This culminates in him screwing up Saida's ritual, getting her and Brand's minds swapped, and himself killed.
  • Voluntary Shapeshifting: One of his powers as a kitsune

"Oh Darling, how quaint!"

A quetz Princess who controls the rain. A very nice lady, who invites Brand to the quetz' city to get his wings back.

  • Break the Cutie: Doesn't take being trapped in Brand's body well for a time.
  • Cloudcuckoolander: Has shades of this sometimes. She certainly likes bottle caps.
  • The Pollyanna: Very upbeat and friendly to both Roko and Brand, despite the latter of which belonging to a race antagonistic to her kind. Seems to lose this trait for a time after the shock of being trapped in Brand's body and being mistaken for him.
  • Nice Girl: Might just be the nicest character in the story.
  • Non-Action Girl: She isn't much of a fighter.
  • Royal "We": Refers to herself as 'we', and is a princess.
  • Spoiled Sweet: Saida is a Quetz princess, and easily one of the nicest characters in the story.
