Go To

Saisei Stride Team in general

  • Idol Singer: The members of the Saisei Stride team, who double as the idol unit Galaxy Standard.

Suwa Reiji

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/char_291959.jpg
A third-year student and the captain of the Saisei Stride Club. A competitive person, and his competitiveness triggered an after match with Fujiwara Takeru.
Position: Captain, runner, anchor
Voiced by: Mamoru Miyano (Japanese), Justin Briner (English)

  • Affectionate Nickname: Bantaro calls him "Rei-kun".
  • Childhood Friends: Reiji, Shizuma and Asuma. They were raised together due to the Mayuzumi family's father being the gardener for the Suwa estate.
  • Curtains Match the Window: This foreshadows his odd one out characteristic. Specifically, Reiji is the only love interest from another school in the visual novel.
  • "Do It Yourself" Theme Tune: He sings the opening sequence for the otome adaptation alongside the ending theme for both adaptations with his fellow members.
  • Hidden Depths: Reiji has to juggle responsibilities of Stride, Galaxy Standard, as well as his family's heavy inheritance burden. His relaxed cheerfulness is something he keeps up to hide his stress and maintain his reputation as the Perfect Prince of the Galaxy (his game title). It's no surprise that he collapses several times out of sheer overwork.
  • Princely Young Man: Bonus points for actually being an heir to a rich family.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Hot dogs, and to a lesser extent junk food. It Makes Sense in Context given how much activity he does in a single day - stride, idol work and also traditional Japanese dance, he needs the calories.

Mayuzumi Shizuma

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/char_292152.jpg
A third-year student and the relationer of Saisei Stride Club. His father works as a gardener for the Suwa household, and Shizuma himself is the faithful aide of Reiji. Dubbed as "superhuman" because he can do everything (maybe except cooking) by his younger brother, Azuma. He can give accurate command to his runners.
Position: Vice captain, relationer, runner (former)
Voiced by: Daisuke Hirakawa (Japanese), Garret Storms (English)

  • Affectionate Nickname: Bantaro calls him "Oshizu".
  • Aloof Big Brother: Shizuma is the source of the Asuma's inferiority complex, with the latter referring to Shizuma as "onii-sama". This question, asked by Asuma to Riku exemplifies it.
Asuma: It's not easy when your big bro is superhuman, but you know that, right ?
  • Childhood Friends: Reiji, Shizuma and Asuma. They were raised together due to the Mayuzumi family's father being the gardener for the Suwa estate.
  • The Dragon: Shizuma, to Reiji. Comes with the Undying Loyalty, too.
  • Family Theme Naming: Shizuma and Asuma.
  • Game-Breaking Injury: Shizuma in middle school, which basically crippled him. It's the reason he became a relationer.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Shizuma for Reiji during middle school. We aren't told exactly what this incident is, but it crippled him and left him wheelchair-bound for quite a number of years. He got better with physiotherapy, though, and regained his ability to walk. This is the reason he became a relationer instead of a runner.
  • Long-Haired Pretty Boy
  • Psychic Link: Some of the relationers are able to sense the feelings and actions of their teammates - it's not a compulsory skill to participate in the sport, but the best teams' relationers often have this ability.
  • Rose-Haired Sweetie
  • Sibling Yin-Yang: Shizuma, the elder, is a Bishōnen with long hair and the Team Mom, using keigo almost all the time in public. Asuma on the other hand is more shounen, has visibly dyed hair, and speaks in more casual Japanese.
  • Team Mom

Chiyomatsu Bantaro

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tumblr_p1751chljh1v47ah2o1_250.jpg
A third-year student known as the "Trickster" of Saisei. He is always lively and full of enthusiasm. His house isn't in Kamakura, so he lives together with Tasuku and Galaxy Standard's manager, Yamane.
Position: Runner
Voiced by: Takuya Eguchi (Japanese), Josh Grelle (English)

Senoo Tasuku

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/char_292154.jpg
A second-year student. He is very serious and will do almost anything to help his idol Reiji win. He will often shove the other Stride team to the side, like he did with Heath.
Position: Runner, anchor
Voiced by: Tatsuhisa Suzuki (Japanese), Shawn Gann (English)

  • Affectionate Nickname: Bantaro calls him "Tassun".
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: He isn't afraid to point out other people's mistakes or potential pitfalls without regard for politeness or other's feelings, but this is just because of his brutal honesty and not because he means harm.
  • Meaningful Name: Tasuku is the Japanese pronunciation of "task", a reason as to why he takes Stride so seriously.

Mayuzumi Asuma

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/char_292181.jpg
A second-year student and the younger brother of Shizuma. He's called the most plain in the group because of minimal stage presence and is made fun of because of that by his teammates. He is close with Yagami Riku, joking that they both have "superhuman" as older brothers.
Position: Runner
Voiced by: Yuki Ono (Japanese), Joel McDonald (English)

  • Affectionate Nickname: Bantaro calls him "Suma-cchi".
  • Childhood Friends: Reiji, Shizuma and Asuma. They were raised together due to the Mayuzumi family's father being the gardener for the Suwa estate.
  • Height Angst: He doesn't like getting teased for his height, as he is shorter than his older brother.
  • Older Than They Look: Riku expresses shock when Asuma said he is a second-year.
  • Sibling Yin-Yang: Shizuma, the elder, is a Bishōnen with long hair and the Team Mom, using keigo almost all the time in public. Asuma on the other hand is more shounen, has visibly dyed hair, and speaks in more casual Japanese.

Okumura Kaede

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/291760.jpg
A first-year student. He is huge fan of Kuga Kyosuke. He tries his best to beat Kuga, and often shows off while running in a Stride race.
Position: Runner
Voiced by: Toshiyuki Toyonaga (Japanese), Jean-Luc Hester (English)

  • Affectionate Nickname: Bantaro calls him "Mei-chan".
  • Formal Characters Use Keigo: Speaks very politely as a result of his upbringing as a son of a politician.
  • The Knights Who Say "Squee!": Kaede is a member of one of the most popular boy groups in Japan, yet he loses all of his usual composure and turns into a total fanboy when he meets Kyosuke in person for the first time. He even screams when he hears him talk.
  • Token Mini-Moe
  • Trademark Favorite Food: His character page in the game states that he loves green tea. And in episode 3, he is seen drinking green tea after Galaxy Standard's performance.
