Characters / Onmyoji 2016 SR Shikigami

Go To

These shikigami (except Mannendake, Ninmenju, Komatsumaru, Hiyoribō and Kainin) can be summoned using the blue talismans, by spending 100 magatama for each black talisman or by using the purple real world talismans. At a summoning rate of 20%, they are less rare than SSR and rarer than R. They, like all other shikigami, can also be obtained by assembling fragments given by players in the same guild, gotten from the Hyakkiyakō mini-game, or rewarded after completing certain quests or battles. Mannendake, Ninmenju and Kainin can only be obtained by buying directly from the shrine in the Summoning room, while the other ones listed above can only be obtained by challenging them in timed Demon Force zones and via the Hyakkiyakō.

Awakening an SR requires 16 second-tier and 8 third-tier materials for each of 2 types, making it 32 second-tiers and 16 third-tiers in total.

General tropes:

  • Crutch Character: Alongside Rs, these are typically the first "real" shikigami one can summon. Although rarer than Rs, they are much more advisable for lower-level players to build rather than going for SSRs or SPs, who demand significant investment of time, grinding, and Skill Daruma, which are Rare Candy-level materials. Many of the useful SRs can be gotten simply by summoning enough, or getting lucky with bean tosses in a parade, which makes leveling their skills relatively easy, and even those who need a lot of investment can still be very useful early on. Many will remain viable even during the late game, well after one might have gotten several SSRs to their name.
  • Overshadowed by Awesome: Most SR shikis, particularly DPS ones, would be quite valid picks for duelling... if SSR and SP shikis didn't exist. Unfortunately, while utility SRs manage to retain a niche in the game, the overwhelming majority of DPS SRs are simply no match for SSR and SP ones.
  • Weak, but Skilled: A disturbing amount of SR shikigami are this, possessing extreme utility due to the gimmicky nature of their kits. Despite lacking in brute strength, they make up for this with sheer utility in their diverse CC effects, battlefield manipulation, or just pure support. Whereas most SSRs simply smash things into bits quickly, SRs can shut down the entire enemy team by their lonesome if built right, or at the very least pose a major nuisance that the other side must try to work around. They remain viable picks even late into the game or bleeding into PvP, where certain SRs are must-haves in specific team combinations, such as Kamaitachi, Hiyoribō, or Kiyohime.
