Rafe
- Everyone Has Standards: Despite being a troublemaker, there are lines he won't cross.
- He won't go out of his way to get people hurt because of Operation R.A.F.E.
- He also won't let anyone get bullied despite being an easy target for bullies.
- My God, What Have I Done?: His reaction to seeing Jeanne get a detention because of his own operation.
- Rage Breaking Point: After dealing with Bear's Jerkass habits for a long time, he finally loses it when he saw that Bear hurt Jules' wrist by shoving her during a fight, even telling Bear to leave the house angrily.
- Wham Line: To Leo:Rafe: You shut up! You're not even real!
- What the Hell, Hero?: Rafe calls out Georgia for making Jules sad because she felt the need to tattle on Rafe in front of the whole diner.
Leo (Unmarked Spoilers)
- Imaginary Friend: Is revealed to be this to Rafe at the end of the first book and movie.
- Walking Spoiler: The big twist at the end of the first book and movie recontextualizes everything about Leo.
Georgia
- Adoption Angst: In the third book, she freaks out after Jules confesses that Georgia was adopted some time after Leo's death.
- Annoying Younger Sibling: She frequently bothers Rafe, and their rocky relationship is explored in the third and fifth book.
- Bratty Half-Pint: She's ready to annoy and stress Rafe out. A shining moment would be her blabbing to their mother (Jules) about Rafe wearing only his boxers during school. When Jules is sadden to hear this (and on her birthday, no less), Georgia chooses to humiliate Rafe in earshot of the people inside the diner.
Dwight
- Big Bad: He is main antagonist of the movie, and Rafes biggest enemy.
- Dean Bitterman: Runs his school like a prison.
- Screw the Rules, I Make Them!: Definitely falls into and under this category.
