Dan Bam

     Saeroyi Park

The protagonist.

  • A Father to His Men: One of his most distinctive traits is people and relationships are not a means or an obstacle to his goal, but his main motivation. His goal (aside from revenge) is being able to protect his people, who he treats like family. This initially puts him at odds with Yiseo, who doesn't hesitate in having someone fired if it benefits Danbam.
    • He refuses to kick Hyunyi out as recommended by Yiseo (on the grounds of Hyunyi not being a good cook, as well as possibly "making people uncomfortable" due to being trans), instead betting on her learning to cook.
    • He finds out a disco didn't allow entrance to Toni because of his race. The next morning, people wake up to find "RACIST" graffitied on the club's entrance.
    • By the time IC becomes a franchise, Saeroyi has taken all of the original staff with him, as they've reached high positions in the company, and Saeroyi has extended this trope to IC's company values: people and trust.
  • Dreadful Musician: If Hyunyi and Seungkwon's reactions at a karaoke bar is any indication, Saeroyi is a terrible singer.
  • Open-Minded Parent: If one considers the trope right above. He didn't know that Hyuni was a trans woman but isn't bothered by the fact, and tells everyone not to make big deal of it.
  • The Power of Hate: His drive/motivation for the whole series; he wants to become better than Jangga and/or bring it down as revenge for its founding family killing his father and cutting off his future via high school expulsion. His emotional breakdown in episode 15 showed he's actually emotionally/psychologically exhausted from this and ultimately lets go of his hate.

Jangga Co.

     Daehee Jang

The founder and CEO of Jangga Co., a major food company.

  • Ain't Too Proud to Beg: In the final episode, with his cancer killing him on top of losing his company to Saeroyi thanks to Sooah's whistleblowing and having alienated both his sons, Daehee finally kneels in front of Saeroyi; begging the younger man to just let Jangga Co. die with him rather than absorbing it. Unfortunately, Saeroyi notes that he only knelt after losing everything so all the begging feels hollow and hangs him out to dry.
  • Big Bad: The plot revolves around Saeroyi taking revenge against him.

     Sooah Oh

Saeroyi's friend from high school, and was friends with his father. And head of Strategic Planning at Jangga Co.
