Late-Arrival Spoiler warning. This story assumes that the reader is familiar with the canonical plot from the light novel, manga, and anime, so spoilers for all of them will be unmarked. The author also assumes anyone that comes here will have read up to the latest chapter of his story, so all information about new spells, abilities, weapons, etc. will not be spoiler marked.

The author also asks that, for any shield, weapon, ability, etc. that he misses, that the name and chapter for said shield, weapon, or ability are added. So the author can pull it up, and then add the rest of the information for it.

Here is a list of the new weapons and abilities used by the Four Heroes, as well as new spells and abilities used by other characters.

General

Blessed Series

The Blessed Series are this story's counterpoint to the Cursed Series: powerful versions of the Holy Weapons that run on the Heroes' virtues and positive emotions instead of their negative emotions. While they initially do not seem to have a weakness (the way the Cursed Series twist the Hero's mind until they become demons), they require the Hero to hold onto the feeling that creates the weapon, because losing it can cause them to fall into the corresponding Cursed Series.

There are two ways to unlock the weapon:

  • They can overcome the trial that would unlock the Cursed Series: this unlocks the Virtue opposed to the Curse.
  • They can regain their purpose to fight for the world from someone else: this can unlock any of the Blessed Series.

So far, the only Heroes to achieve the feat of unlocking a Blessed Series is Naofumi and the Shield of Diligence, Ren and the Sword of Bravery I, and Kizuna and the Rod/Hunting Knife of Resolve.

Hengen Musou (Life Force Energy)

An ancient martial arts technique passed down through the generations. It has never lost on the field of battle. Practitioners are able to accomplish feats similar to that of the Heroes through Life Force, or Chi as that is a more familiar term for some people. By learning to manipulate their own life force, practitioners are able to raise their stats, make their magic stronger, unleash the potential of any weapon they're holding in their hands (including a simple garden hoe), and unleash the equivalent of Hero skills.

Heroes can learn how to manipulate life force to raise their stats and power up their magic and skills. It is possible to even learn new skills through the various techniques of Hengen Musou for offensive and defensive capabilities. However, due to their weapon's restrictions, they are unable to learn all the secrets of Hengen Musou or life force in general, as to use it at its full potential requires one to be able to use any weapon.a

Weapon Strengthening Methods (Power-Up Methods)

A feature of the Hero Weapons. Each Cardinal Weapon has four methods, one core method that is normally passive and three supporting methods that are more active. Meaning the core method doesn't need any additional activity to use it (ex. Ren's [Level Link] method raises the power of all of his weapon forms whenever he levels up) while a support method requires time, materials, or something additional in order to use it (ex. Itsuki's [Item Enchantment] method, which requires the Hero to gather items and break them down into Item Energy in order to use this method). Vassal Heroes only have one strengthening method and that method is not passive but a supporting active method like the other three methods of Cardinal Heroes. Strengthening Methods of Heroes do not change over time or when going from wielder to wielder. The methods of the Heroes now are the same as they were when the weapons were first created. You cannot create new methods out of thin air. They have to exist in the world in order to be used.

For a 1 Cardinal Hero world, there are only 6 methods to share between the Cardinal and Two Vassal Weapons. In a 2 Cardinal Hero world, there are 12 methods to share between the Cardinal and Vassal Weapons. In a 4 Cardinal Hero world, there are 24 methods to share between the Heroes. In an 8 Cardinal Hero world, there are 48 methods to share between the Heroes.

Therein lies the real strength of this part of the system. While a Vassal Hero might only have one method of their own, they are still capable of using all the methods of the Heroes in 'their' world. That is one stipulation of this system. Heroes of different worlds cannot share methods with each other. Naofumi cannot share methods with Kizuna and vice versa. Another stipulation of the system is that you have to know which Hero 'specifically' the method belongs to. Even if you had knowledge of 'Level Link', you wouldn't be able to use the method unless you knew specifically that it belonged to the Sword Hero (This also means that you can't just guess the method but have to 'know' that it belongs to that specific Hero). The last stipulation is that you have to believe their method is real and that it works. As mentioned earlier, you cannot make methods out of thin air. You have to believe Ren's 'Level Link' Method is real and that you can use it in order to use it. You cannot think that Ren or you or someone else has something like, say, 'GIGACHAD BUFF' and expect such a method to appear.

    • Special Effects: Magic Defense Up, Strength Up, Hope Springs Eternal, Robe of Michael, Ray of Hope
    • Unlocked during the Sacred Duel (Chapter 10) as Naofumi concentrates in his hope to win for Raphtalia.
    • First used during the Sacred Duel. Has been seen five times since then: during the duel with Melty/Bitch, when he heals Raphtalia and Rishia, when he fights the Tyrant Dragon Rex, during the Liberation of Melromarc against Pope Balamus and to convince the Siltvelt army to work with Melromarc's during the Third Wave.
  • Royal Shield: Unlocked through copying one of Erhard's shields. Looks like a gold-plated shield worn by a royal family's personal bodyguard.
    • Equip Bonus: Royal Shield
  • Frog Monster Shield:
  • Mask Shield: Gives the Hero a mask to hide his identity.
  • Chef's Shields I and II: Unlocked by absorbing leftover food from a chef. Another shield of the Butler Series.
    • Equip Bonus: Cooking Skills III and IV.
  • Blue Shark Shield: It increases Naofumi's swimming ability.
  • Spirit Tortoise Heart Shield: Unlocked by Ost, giving the last of her strength to give Naofumi a new shield.
  • The Shield of Diligence: Unlocked by Naofumi, after accepting his wrath as a part of himself and promising to never stop protecting his world and Kizuna's.

    Abilities/Skills
  • Never Gets Drunk: Literally a natural-born ability Naofumi was born with back in his world, one that his Shield doesn't help with at all. One could almost call it a quirk. He can't get drunk even when eating Riculu fruits, which hold enough alcohol in one berry to kill a man ten times over.
  • Mush Series Efficacy: Improves the abilities of other Mush Shields he unlocks. Their abilities include defense, compounding, and cooking. Secretly the first added Shield effect to turn Naofumi into a butler.
  • Royal Shield: A gold translucent barrier that always floats five feet in front of the Shield Hero.
    • Capable of blocking both magic and physical attacks.
    • Weak against most people (it can barely block attacks from regular opponents), its true power surges when used to protect or fight against members of a royal family: not only can it be used as a battering ram against royalty, but if Naofumi's magic defense is higher than a spell's attack cast at him, the shield will deflect the spell with half of the spell's original attack.
    • It has a longer cooldown use than Air Strike Shield and Shield Prison.
  • Blessed Skills: Skills won thanks to the Hopeful Shield.
    • Hope Asunder (Tier I): A skill that attacks an enemy's defense. Normally used as part of a chain skill, like Air Strike Shield-Lasso-Hope Asunder or Shield Prison-Air Strike Shield-Hope Asunder.
      • If the target is unarmored, the skill will drop their defense during the next five minutes at a ratio of 1 per SP used, inflicting damage equal to half of the defense lost.
      • If the target wears armor, by spending a quantity of SP that depends on the armor type and quality, the armor can be destroyed while inflicting damage equal to half the target's armor rating.
      • Should the required SP exceed the Hero's Max SP, the Hero won't be able to recover SP (neither naturally nor through magical means) for a period of time that depends on how much SP was overused.
      • The target must remain immobilized during the combo skill, and activating Hope Asunder requires a predefined chant. If the target breaks free at any point, the skill will not work.
    • Hope Springs Eternal (Tier II): This ability makes healing spells used by the Hero on himself or his party more efficient when the Shield of Hope is equipped (or mastered).
    • Robe of Michael (Tier II): A passive ability that increases the SP recharge rate, defense, magic defense, and changes the Hero's appearance.
    • Ray of Hope (Tier II): A skill that can heal low-tier curses. The actual cost is unknown, but is currently represented as a 10% debuff to his defense for a number of days proportional to how many times it has been used.
    • Pandora's Box (Tier II): A powerful skill that can be used to temporarily petrify a target. Used in a chain skill like Shield Prison-Change Shield (Expand)-Pandora's Box. Inspired in the myth, mostly on how the Gods sealed evil in the box.
      • The chain skill puts the target into a Shield Prison, which is then modified to look like a box without any openings. While enclosed in the box-like prison, the Hero speaks a chant that, if completed, will seal the target in the form of a statue of itself.
      • The seal will last for a period of time established by the Hero (which can be indefinite) when finishing the chant. Monsters become sealed away immediately, while sentient people (such as humans and demi-humans) must be judged first by the Shield, and will only be sealed if the Shield considers them evil.
      • The main drawback behind this skill is that it reduces the Hero's stats by half while the target remains sealed. Monsters that are too big to be held by Shield Prison cannot be held by this skill.
      • The target may escape this skill if they manage to break the Shield Prison before the chant is finished. Should this happen, or should the Shield judge that the target is not evil, the Hero will suffer the same debuff for an undetermined time. A target that has been sealed indefinitely may be freed by other methods.
    Spells
  • Fast Heal: A quick, chant-less spell that heals the target. Less efficient than the normal version, but better in the middle of combat.
  • Zweite Heal: A longer version that heals more damage than Fast Heal.
  • First/Zweite/All Zweite Aura: A Support spell learned from the stone tablet at Cal Mira. Raises all the base stats of the target(s) it's cast on, including the Attack Stat. The only exception is if Naofumi casts it on himself, then his Defense stat gets an extra boost while his Attack Stat stays the same. A spell that can only be learned/used by a Legendary Hero.
  • All Liberation Aura: A spell Naofumi cast with Ost's assistance. It nearly doubled the stats of everyone under it.
  • Eternal Springs of Diligence: Boosts regeneration massively for the wielder and all nearby party allies. Allowing them to power through the worst pains thanks to their healing at the cost of life force. Also boosts the efficacy of healing potions/spells.
  • Gabriel's Veil: Raises defense stats of all nearby allies.
  • Blessing of Raphael: Boosts endurance and stamina of all allies in the party system, regardless of distance from the wielder. The true aspect of Diligence can be given to an entire army if need be.
  • Shatterpoint: When the wielder bashes into an enemy or group of enemies, the enemy’s armor and defenses are shattered upon contact. Uses SP based on the amount and quality of armor and defenses shattered. Requires wielder to touch the enemy for the effect to activate.
  • Sabatons of Rage (Medium): A pair of armored boots that increase his speed and jumping capabilities similarly to Itsuki’s Rank III Pride series effect “Law Frantic”.
  • Vulcan’s Retribution: Spirals of fire appear around Naofumi. They can absorb parts of ranged attacks for Naofumi and, after some time, he can off a counter beam of cursed hellfire from his shield to severely damage the enemy he is facing.

     Weapon Strengthening Methods

Main Core Method: Unknown.

Second Method: Unknown.

Third Method: Unknown.

Fourth Method: Unknown.

Ren Amaki, Hero of the Sword

    Swords
  • Dragon Claw Sword: A sword unlocked from absorbing Gaelion's claws.
  • Dog Sword: A sword unlocked using Wyndia's hair. It makes her stronger.
  • Sword of Gluttony III: Unlocked during the battle of the Spirit Tortoise.
    • Equip Bonus: Skill: “Chain Bind”, “Chain Needle”, “Guillotine”, “Dragon’s Feast”
    • Equip Effect: Defense Up, Regeneration Up, Speed Up, Dragon Eater, Dragon Mask, Dragon Buster (cursed)
  • Sword of Bravery I: Unlocked at the end of the Spirit Tortoise Arc thanks to Wyndia.
    • Equip Bonus: Skill: "Brave Rush". Effect is similar to the Dragon Whirlwind chant from Skyrim.
    • Equip Effect: Defense Up, Agility Up, Nakama (Tier I: The Sword Hero gains strength when fighting near close allies!)
  • Wooden Practice Sword: A form that the sword takes for sparring matches.
  • Mummy Sword: Unlocked by absorbing a mummy part into his sword from the Prad Desert Wave.
  • Otherworldly Scarab Sword: Unlocked by absorbing an Otherworldly Scarab from the Prad Desert Wave.
  • Otherworldly Scorpion Sword: Unlocked by absorbing an Otherworldly Scorpion from the Prad Desert Wave.
  • Otherworldly Snake Sword: Unlocked by absorbing an Otherworldly Snake from the Prad Desert Wave.

    Abilities
  • Thunder Bolt Slash: A skill. Summons lightning to his blade and attacks with a blade of electricity.

  • Light Thrust: A skill. Light forms around Ren's blade, and he thrusts it into the enemy.

  • Crimson Blade: A skill. Ren slashes with an arc of fire, sometimes covering the enemy in fire.

  • Reflect Sword: A skill. Can reflect attacks back at enemies. The stronger the attack, the less it reflects. If the attack is too strong, it won't reflect any of it.

  • Dual Transport: A combo move he performed with Itsuki to teleport their parties. Required Wyndia's draconic magic to make it work.

  • One Hundred Swords: A skill that launches a swarm of blades at the target.

  • One Thousand Swords: An upgrade to "One Hundred Swords" thanks to an accessory made by Naofumi. It produces far more swords than the normal skill. It only has a limited number of uses before the accessory will shatter, which will rid Ren of access to this skill in the future (unless, through sheer luck, he finds an accessory that will produce the same effect when equipped to his Sword).

  • Decay Blade: *Description Pending*
    Spells
  • Zweite Water Slash: Chapter Fifty-Nine. Glass noted the spell wasn't very strong. Likely because Ren had learned it from a crystal ball instead of a spellbook. Sends a slash of water at a target.
    • After learning more in depth about the same spell from a tome, it now has far more attack power behind it than before.

  • Zweite Magic Enchant: A support spell learned from the stone tablet at Cal Mira specific to the Sword Hero. It can not only absorb magic spells cast by allies or foes, but imbue the effects of the spell into the Legendary sword, raising its stats and possibly giving it an additional effect based on the spell absorbed for a brief period of time.

     Weapon-Strengthening Methods

  • Main Core Method: [Level Link] : This was Ren's core method. Basically, as Ren leveled up, the stats of his weapons would also increase. It made sense why the Sword Hero spent so much time grinding for levels before this.

  • Second Method: [Mastery Level] : This was Ren's mastery method. By equipping a weapon or using it in battle, you could raise a weapon's mastery level to 100, increasing its stats along the way. At anytime, you could reset the weapon's mastery level, putting its stats back to normal but obtaining energy for the third method.

  • Third Method: [Energy Transfer] : Using this method, you could use the mastery energy to awaken a weapon. This was permanent and not only increased a weapons stats but also upgraded or revealed abilities the weapon form didn't have before.

  • Fourth Method: [Rarity Up] : This was Ren's last method. All weapons started with a C, or Common Rating. Using Mastery energy, you could upgrade a weapon form's rarity. Each tier up would increase the weapon's overall stats, with higher tiers providing higher stat increases than lower tiers. It had a chance of failing though, which could reset a weapon's rarity back to C. Meaning you had to be careful when using it.

Itsuki Kawasami, Hero of the Bow

    Bows
  • Bow of Justice I and II: Curse Series Weapon. First unlocked after reaching his Despair Event Horizon when he failed to save a little demi-girl. The Bow of Justice ultimately formed out of Itsuki's desire to bring order to what he sees as an evil world. The Second Tier was unlocked upon the death of one of his party members who had been striving to bring justice for his family and the captors who took them.
    • Equip Bonus: Skill "Change Arrow (Attack)" and "Bull of Phalaris"
    • Equip Effect: Self Heal Up, Defense Up, Brainwashing Arrow, Robes of Pride
  • Demon Elephant Bow: Unlocked from the Wave Boss in Sickle's Wave.
    • Equip Effect: Changes arrows to elephant tusks that have a higher chance of critical hitting an enemy.
    • Emerald Flower Bow:
    • Equip Bonus: Gem Reform

    Abilities
  • Aim Correction, Rank E: A natural quirk Itsuki was born with. It gives him around a 20% aim correction on targets he 'focuses' on. His quirk is relatively weak, compared to others from his world who could literally no scope shoot their target even when facing and firing the opposite direction thanks to their aim correction abilities.

  • Air Strike Spread: A skill. Fires one red energy arrow at a line of enemies. Splits into multiple arrows for each enemy.

  • Arrow Squall (spread): A skill. Fires one arrow into the air. Comes down as multiple arrows, all of which cause minor explosions upon impact.

  • Band Hero, Rank SSS: Itsuki's other natural quirk. This allows him to grab any instrument he's never played before, and be better than the masters at it within a few minutes of practicing. For combat situations, it wasn't considered very useful, so he hardly talks about it.

  • Bunker Shot: *Description pending*

  • Saint Arrow Rain (spread): A skill. Fires one arrow into the air. Comes down as multiple arrows covered in flames.

  • Shining Arrow (spread): A skill. Fires one energy arrow into the air. Comes down as multiple arrows of light.

  • Explosion Shot: A skill, unlocked from a Dragon Bow. Fires one arrow, explodes dramatically against its target.

  • Dual Transport: A combo skill he performed with Ren to teleport their parties. Required Wyndia's Earth Vein magic to make it work.

  • Erst Arrow: Sends a single arrow at a target, higher attack power than a normal arrow.

  • Second Arrow: Same as Erst Arrow.

  • Dritte Arrow: Same as Erst Arrow.

  • Rain of Arrows: Itsuki fires one arrow into the air, and it splits into a rain of arrows.

    Spells
  • Zweite Wind Slash: Chapter Fifty-Nine. Glass noted the spell wasn't very strong. Likely because Itsuki had learned it from a crystal ball instead of a spellbook. Sends a slash of wind at a target.

  • Zweite Down: A Support spell learned from the stone tablet at Cal Mira specific to the Bow Hero. Drops all the stats of the opponent it's cast on. A spell that can only be learned/used by a Legendary Hero.

     Weapon Strengthening Methods

  • Main Core Method: [Rarity Strength] : This was Itsuki's core method. It passively increased a weapon's stats based on how rare it was. It did not, however, base it on Ren's rarity method, but rather how rare the weapon itself was. If Naofumi were to describe the difference between the two methods. It'd be like having an Excalibur, and then having THE Excalibur. One method worked on ranking up a weapon's rarity to that of Excalibur. The other became immensely powerful if it copied the ACTUAL sword of Arthurian legend itself and not a fake.
    • Naofumi's Chimera Viper Shield, which was classified as a Rare weapon under Itsuki's method, could be upgraded to SR or Super Rare under Ren's method. He'd get the Rare bonus for Itsuki's method, as well as the additional Super Rare bonus for Ren's Method separately. Making the weapon overall even more powerful than it would be under two separate methods.

  • Second Method: [Ore Enhancement/Equip] : This allowed the Hero to insert ore into ore slots on a weapon via the HUD. The ore inserted into a weapon upgraded a certain stat, and there was a finite amount of ore slots per weapon. Also, it ONLY took ore. You couldn't insert monster materials or anything else related to the Weapon Form. It had to be ore.

  • Third Method: [Item Enchantment] : This turned unwanted items and monster corpses collected by the Legendary Weapon into energy to enchant with. There is a chance of failure every time the method is used, and if it fails: the enchantment on the weapon form will reset to 0.
    • This method is also able to make use of Ren's Mastery Energy in place of Item Energy for [Item Enchantment]
      • In an Omake, Naofumi was able to increase his ATK by +1, however when he tried to increase it again; the ATK reset to 0.

  • Fourth Method: [Job Levels] : The best method Itsuki has. It looks useless at first, as it requires a lot of materials to upgrade a stat's level by 1, granting a bonus of +1. Plus, it has a 24-hour cooldown before you can use the method again to raise the same stat to another level, with a higher material cost... by +2. However, the secret behind this method is that each level keeps the boosts of previous levels. So by level 10 it'd have a bonus of +55. By level 100 the stat would have a bonus of +5050. Level 200 would have a stat bonus of +20100. And so on and so forth.

Motoyasu Kitamura, Hero of the Spear

    Spears
  • Spear of Jealousy I and II: Curse Series Weapon. First unlocked after reaching his Despair Event Horizon following the events of his failed Lordship at Lute Village. The Spear of Jealousy I ultimately formed because of the jealousy Motoyasu felt towards Naofumi for being a better hero than him. He unlocked the Second Tier when he became jealous because Naofumi didn't have to deal with Bitch manipulating him into doing terrible things since being summoned.
    • Equip Bonus: Skill: "Change Spear (Attack)" and "Sky Burial"
    • Equip Effect: Self Heal Up, Defense Up, Jealousy's Call (passive: miasma emits from his spear, dropping the stats of everyone around him that it touches), Envy's Roar
  • Filolial Crown Spear: A spear that was unlocked by absorbing Fitoria's feather.

    Abilities
  • Crimson Thrust: A skill. The tip of the spear becomes covered in fire, and when thrust forward, releases a burst of fire over the target. Shown in Chapter Ten during the Sacred Duel with Naofumi.

  • Lightning Spear: The spear becomes covered in blue energy, and when thrust forward, releases a beam of electricity over the target. Shown in Chapter Ten during the Sacred Duel with Naofumi.

  • Chaos Spear: An attack that launches his spear thrust at four times the usual speed. Shown in Chapter Ten during the Sacred Duel with Naofumi.

  • Air Strike Javelin: Launches a red ethereal javelin at the opponent. Shown in Chapter Ten during the Sacred Duel with Naofumi.

  • Gale Force Thrust: A skill that causes wind to be expelled from his spear.

  • Chaos Thrust: A skill. It is basically a more powerful version of Chaos Spear. Shown in chapter 58.

    Spells

  • Hundred Fiery Javelins: A fire spell that launches a swarm of fire javelins at the target. Shown in Chapter Ten during the Sacred Duel with Naofumi. And again at Chapter Fifty-Nine during the fight with Glass in "The Raven Invader"

  • Zweite Healing Warmth: A healing spell.

     Weapon Strengthening Methods

  • Main Core Method: [Weapon Mastery] : By growing more accustomed to a weapon form, its stats increase. If done for long enough, it could make your starter weapon form strong enough to face endgame content.

  • Second Method: [Smelting] : Using ore, one can upgrade various weapon forms to increase their stats. It has no upper cap to it, but each level has a chance of failure. If it fails, the upgrade for the weapon reverts back to 0. Be careful when using this method.
    • Different weapon forms require different ores. These are ores you'll need to find yourself as monsters don't drop them.

  • Third Method: [Spirit Enchantment] : Parts of monsters' souls drop when they die. You can use those fragments to imbue weapon forms with special enchantments that increase damage to specific monsters, resistance to elemental damage, and so on.
    • This is completely different from Item Enchantment and both are considered separate enchantments on a weapon form.

  • Fourth Method: [Status Enchantment] : Using monster souls, you can imbue a weapon form with an enchantment that increases magic power, or strength, or any of your other stats. If you don't like what you get, you can choose to replace the enchantment with something else.
    • Again, considered an entirely different enchantment than Spirit Enchantment or Item Enchantment.

    Abilities

    Spells
  • Hide Mirage: A spell that allows her to hide whoever she wants.

Wyndia

    Abilities
  • Earth Vein: Due to the Dragon Blessing she received from her adopted father, Gaelion, she has access to both the Standard Magic System and the Dragon Vein Magic System through the ability, Earth Vein.
    • While Standard Magic relies on MP to fuel spells, Earth Vein relies on the vitality of objects around the user. Standard Magic casting is easier than Earth Vein, as you have to not only pull vitality from a nearby object, but you also have to arrange a puzzle set in your mind with it to shape the spell. However, some of the benefits of this system include the fact that you're able to cast magic outside of your affinities (as long as the appropriate objects to pull vitality from are nearby), the spells are generally more powerful, and you can cast a wider variety, or if you're good enough, learn how to shape the puzzle pieces for a specific spell for later.
    • She has also learned the Gem Magic version of this thanks to Therese training her during the second half of the Spirit Tortoise Arc.
