One of the three new units introduced in the Ensemble Stars!! Updated Re-release.

A mysterious, underground idol unit affiliated with New Dimension. Led by Madara Mikejima, him and Kohaku Oukawa continue to do activities with their original units, MaM and Crazy:B respectively, but they've begun doing activities as a two-person unit as well. Their media work primarily focuses on modeling for magazines, and appearing in commercials, dramas, and theatre.

Their theme color is dark teal.

     In General
  • Amateur Sleuth: The unit as a whole, with their unit theme being based around a detective motif.
  • Breaking the Fellowship: Double Face parts ways as a unit in the event story Guardians◆Eye and Last Mission, as Madara decides to find himself and tackle unresolved trauma from his upbringing. Kohaku is initially reluctant to stop working with him, as Madara initially tried to separate them by force, although they part amicably by the end, with Kohaku stating that he will wait for Madara.
  • Color Motif: Red and dark teal are prominent colors in their unit costume, similar to MaM.
  • The Dreaded: Following the events of A Dark Night's Passing, rumors about Double Face began circulating in the industry, instilling fear into producers who begin to behave for fear that they may end up becoming the units next target.
  • Excuse Plot: The unit debut story is this, as was admitted by Word of God who wanted to give Madara Mikejima a friend to perform on stage with. This also explains why by the end of the story, Double Face is a permanent unit unlike the collaborative units that came before it.
  • Guile Hero: Not above using blackmail or threats (even amoungst themselves), and will set up their matches to be heavy weighted in their favor, as seen in their match with Valkyrie in Antique Legend
  • Gameplay and Story Segregation: Is a unit that’s stated to be active infrequently but appears in the Work Mini-Game rotation as frequently as any other unit.
  • Japanese Pop Music: Their unit songs notably have a sound that are reminiscent of Japanese pop music from the 80's and 90's. Secret of Metropolis specifically conveys a City Pop vibe.
  • Kid Detective: Kohaku unit outfit reflects this role, with Madara being dressed more like an actual Private Detective.
  • Loyal to the Position : They're the "scandal disposal unit" of ES, regardless of who is their client & target is. In Antique Legend, they particularly want to remove the rumor they're just Ibara's personal army. Kohaku himself having no qualms of going after and even killing Ibara, despite him being Crazy:B's production agency's vice president and being one of Kohaku's first clients.
  • Meaningful Name: The unit name "Double Face" represents the shady backsides of the two characters front-facing idol units, those being the bright and cheerful MaM and Crazy:B, respectively. It's also represents the duality of Madara and Kohaku, who both put on friendly, welcoming personas to mask their true nature.
  • Non-Uniform Uniform: Unlike the units where all the characters are shown wearing the same thing (With RYUSEITAI and Eden standing out due to their uniforms being Color-Coded for Your Convenience), Madara and Kohaku are introduced wearing entirely different outfit styles with only a few accessories, the general theme and color motif keeping them connected.
  • Open Secret: Double Face is supposedly an "underground" unit with their shady dealings being kept a secret. However, according to Advancing to the Future/Next Door, everyone at New Dimension is fully aware of their true purpose outside of being idols such as their getting rid of evil producers that would cause issues for Ensemble Square. It’s implied that those at Cosmic Production, or at least Ibara, are aware of the unit’s true role as well. By the event story Hot Limit which takes place soon after their debut event, rumors about Double Face have begun circulating throughout the industry, resulting in producers behaving in order to not be next on their hit list.
  • Private Detective: Their main motif, which is more clearly demonstrated in the music video for their first unit song =EYE=.
  • Recurring Element: Justice, or their version of it. MaM's sheriff badge symbol is reincorperated here, and the primary goal of their unit is to eliminate those who they deem bad in order to keep the peace.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: As a duo, Madara is the red oni to Kohaku’s blue despite them being on the same level of competence and intellect.
  • Teeth-Clenched Teamwork: Played with. Despite their subtle bickering and Kohaku’s Sugar-and-Ice Personality, they’re shown to work together fairly well.
  • Vigilante Man: Their unit debut event story A Dark Night's Passing focuses on their mission to bring an evil producer named GFK to justice, by their own hands. The event Advancing to the Future/Next Door which takes place immediately after the units debut live on Marble Cast confirms that they succeeded in wiping GFK from the industry.
