    Dumuzid

Dumuzid

The ikemen sheep himself, in all his blonde glory.
Dumuzid is the Sumerian god of fertility and rebirth. Though originally only a minor god of fertility and shepherds, upon dying and being reborn he gained the authority over rebirth turning him into a powerful ruler over life. He is one of many consorts to the goddess of war and fertility, Ishtar.

Dumuzid began as a 'human' shepherd who was immortalized by his wife upon gaining her heart in a contest against a farmer, Enkimdu. He was not a true human, born to a mortal father and the goddess of cows, Ninsun. However, due to his mortal blood his divine traits, such as his prominent horns, did not manifest until he was turned completely divine.
  • All Take and No Give: He tends to be altruistic only where he knows he will be repaid for it. However, the chances of him repaying back a similar favor are practically none.
  • Beneath the Mask: To all who know him, he is a charming, altruistic pretty-boy, his only flaw being his sharp tongue and poor timing with his comments. However, this is a mask he has been wearing since his childhood. He understands the need to mix within society and puts on a charismatic face.
    • Upon becoming a Heroic Spirit, this manifests as the skill "Sheepish Veneer EX."
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: Despite, quite literally, wearing the guise of an innocent sheep, he is truly a sadistic and manipulative god who will step on anyone in order to get his way. He has no qualms about abandoning or dispatching people if it proves to benefit him.
  • Deity of Human Origin: He began as a half-human, only achieving godhood through another deity's blessing.
  • Divine Parentage: His mother is the goddess of cows, Ninsun.
  • Healer God: It's his specialty.
  • Immortal Life Is Cheap: He resurrects infinitely, so people tend to kill him without a second thought.
  • Love Martyr: Dumuzid is one of the consorts of the goddess Ishtar. She is sadistic and cruel and tends to treat him harshly, even going so far as to have him ripped to shreds and his remains, and soul, dragged to the underworld in a fit of rage. Despite this, he remains married to her.
  • Manipulative Bastard: He has a habit of gaslighting and manipulation for his own benefit.
  • Neutral Evil: In-universe alignment.
  • Resurrection/Death Loop: Dumuzid will always die in the summer and return in the fall. This creates an endless death and rebirth loop which he, very audibly, abhors. (This also falls under Resurrective Immortality)
  • Shapeshifter Default Form: Defaults to one of two sheep-like appearances, neither of which are his truest appearance.

    Erys

Erys

Erys is a demiurge of darkness and chaos; a primordial force who transcends even godhood. He embodies all which is despised and all the evils of the world. Due to his nature, he lacks a will. Instead, he acts only as a force rather than an entity with goals.
  • Blue-and-Orange Morality: He does not act on a typical moral compass, and may even appear to lack one entirely. His motives cannot be understood by mortals; he is entropy itself.
  • God of Chaos: Erys is the embodiment of chaos itself.
  • No Biological Sex: He is a conceptual being lacking in sex organs.
  • Non-Human Non-Binary: He does not have a set gender nor sex.
  • You Cannot Grasp the True Form: Because he is merely a concept, he cannot be perceived nor truly understood. The form he takes is vaguely comprehensible, and yet even then, not at all. Erys states that the appearance he takes before mortals is, "their general conception of him," rather than what he looks like.

    Ingrid

Ingrid

The face of a god slayer.

Ingrid is a teenage girl, unique in her home for having a lack of magic. She carries a ridiculously oversized sword with her at all times, even though it seems too large for her to do anything efficiently. She has no recollection of her past, and begins her journey with the hopes of finding answers.
  • Amnesiac Hero: Everything is a blur to her, except for randomly picked parts of her identity.
  • BFS: In place of magic, she has the sacred power of wielding a sword that she really should not be able to carry.
  • Blessed with Suck: Even though she is in a "one-of-a-kind" situation, Ingrid's lack of magic hinders her greatly. She is unable to use magic-infused weapons, and is put at great risk when even exposed to such forces.
  • Conditioned to Accept Horror: Although initially she is frightened by even peaceful animal encounters, she gradually becomes more accepting of the actual unspeakable horrors that inhabit the world; Especially since she works with some of them.
  • Kid with the Leash: Somehow, even with Ingrid's below-average strength and complete lack of experience in everything due to amnesia, she is able to recruit two beings of divine origin to her side; One of which turns out to be a widely-considered-to-be-evil god that was sealed away tens of thousands of years ago. Somehow he will listen to her.
  • Little Miss Badass: 17 years old and standing at just barely 5'2, and yet her rather unique combat strategies make her a formidable opponent.
  • Pals with Jesus: Literally roommates with her universe's equivalent of God.
  • You Can't Go Home Again: The truth of Ingrid's lack of power lies in the reveal that she was never from the setting world to begin with, but rather a version of it with laws and concepts more closely related to those of earth's- which, unfortunately, was completely and utterly obliterated prior to the beginning of the story.
