  • Babies Ever After: Between the prologue and Part II of The Forests of Silence Endon and Sharn have Lief.

  • The Dutiful Son: He was described by Jarred to be very dutiful.
  • It's All My Fault: Endon blames himself for the Shadow Lord's invasion of Deltora and his people's suffering, thinking that if he had been a stronger king and had listened to Jarred, it wouldn't have happened.
  • King Incognito: For the sixteen years of the Shadow Lord's rule, Endon is disguised as a blacksmith, which is ironic, since the first King of Deltora was also a blacksmith.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Endon's basic reaction to the loss of the Belt and the Shadow Lord's invasion.
  • My Greatest Failure: Endon's greatest failure is not realising in time that Deltora is in danger of being invaded by the Shadow Lord and reclaiming the Belt of Deltora to prevent this.
  • Near-Death Experience: Had a run-in with a falling tree which left him with a stiff leg and a limp.
  • Perfectly Arranged Marriage: To Sharn.
  • Puppet King: During his seven year reign, due to the Rule rendering him reliant on the evil Chief Advisor Prandine, who is a servant of the Shadow Lord.

  • The Only One I Trust: No matter what, Jarred is always there for Endon and is always willing to help him. On the night of the Shadow Lord's invasion Endon sends for Jarred because he finally realises this and has no one else to turn to. Endon even tells this to Jarred word for word:
"For the sake of our old friendship, I beg you to forgive the past. You are the only one I can trust. Please help us!"
  • Secret Identity: During the dark years he is forced to hide his true identity so that he and is family won't get killed, and pretends to be his close friend Jarred.

  • Cold-Blooded Torture: It is implied that this happened to Sharn after she and Endon were arrested and imprisoned in the Del Palace dungeons.
  • Determinator: Sharn nevers gives up hope that the Shadow Lord will be defeated one day and her family will come out of hiding. She is described as a very brave and determined woman, and Jarred comes to admire her because of this.
  • Died in Your Arms Tonight: Amarantz dies in Sharn's arms after swallowing one of her own poisoned cakes.
  • Eerie Pale-Skinned Brunette: Sharn has the appearance of a Toran, who all have pale skin and dark hair.

  • Perfectly Arranged Marriage: To Endon. It's amazing how perfect they are for each other.
  • Pregnant Badass: During the first book's prologue, she manages to kill Prandine, the Chief Advisor, by tipping him out the window of the tower in which the Belt of Deltora was kept. She also manages to convince Endon to listen to Jarred, something which Jarred was never able to do. And all this while she is heavily pregnant.
  • Royals Who Actually Do Something: She and Endon plan the quest for the gems and prepare Lief for it. After the Shadow Lord's defeat Sharn helps Deltorans recover from the Shadow Lord's rule, and becomes well-loved and respected by the people because of it. In Dragons of Deltora she travels to Tora to support relations between the two great cities, and when she returns serves soup to the poor and needy, which unfortunately results in the creation of the Toran Plague myth as Sharn was poisoned soon after.
