Almarie Faith Goodwin-Gaines
A diner worker and fast-paced, impulsive party girl who brought Tom to Las Vegas, where they got drunk and quickly "wedded". She is also the one who had the premonition of Merlin's Tower elevator collapsing.
- Final Girl: Subverted, the ending implies that she'll die of AIDS.
Thomas Gaines
A carpenter who impulsively married Faith while on vacation and is more responsible than his wife.
- Look Both Ways: Get hit by a speeding truck while changing a blown-out tire.
Arlen Ploog
A low-life self-professed loser who works at The Big Apple Laundromat.
- Bring My Brown Pants: Arlen Ploog pisses his pants after he's smacked around and almost killed by a criminal.
- Butt-Monkey: An unlucky man without much cussess in life who is threatened by a serial killer and then becomes targeted by Death.
- Out with a Bang: Dies when a neon sign swings down, causing him to kick the accompanying prostitute having some...activity with him. What she bit off from him eventually causes him to die from his injuries.
Warren Ackerman
A burnt out cop heralding from the Las Vegas PD who is over-eager to arrest a child murderer and planning to retire after solving that case.
- High-Voltage Death: Electrocuted by cables damaged during a gunfight with a criminal.
- Retirony: He closes the case, but then it's his turn to face Death.
Shanwna Engels
An exotic dancer featured in "Magipalooza!" who is also Warren's girlfriend.
- Death by Irony: Shawna despises big felines, yet she gets killed by a Jaguar. And no, we don't mean the cat
. - Kind Hearted Cat Lover: She loves small cats, although she's afraid of big ones.
Isabelle Montoya
A transfer cop stationed in the Las Vegas PD and Warren's partner.
- Action Mom: A capable police detective in the thick of things whose married with three kids.
- Uncertain Doom: It's likely but unconfirmed that she was also infected with a lethal strain of AID's by Murphy.
Sean Murphy
A young Las Vegas PD cop who escorted the survivors of the Merlin's Tower elevator accident in his patrol van.
- Half the Man He Used to Be: Gets bisected in the waist thanks to smashing through his van's windscreen.
- Small Role, Big Impact: While driving down the street in his van, a traffic light falls down and slams through the left side of the van, smashing through the window and severing Sean in half at the waist. His blood sprayed all over the survivors and Allie and Izzy ended up contracting a deadly form of HIV from his infected blood.
Aldis Escobar
A high school drop-out working as a waiter in The Lady of the Lake, a restaurant at the top of Merlin's Tower.
- Decoy Protagonist: The entire first chapter is dedicated to him... and he dies in a car accident on the last page of it, long before the book's disaster (the collapse of a glass elevator) even occurs.
