    Inquiry

Inquiry

A "detective" themed witch, currently investigating the disappearances of other witches.
  • Contrasting Sequel Protagonist: Inquiry differs from the protagonist of Berrywitched in several ways. Whereas they were little more than a blank slate for the player to project themselves onto, Inquiry has an established personality and actually appears on-screen. Where the protagonist was depressed to the point of being suicidal, Inquiry is mentally stable, if a bit worn down from her job. Inquiry seeks out Cherry Pie by choice, the unnamed protagonist is found by Strawberry. Strawberry and the protagonist are strangers whose relationship depends on the protagonist's behavior, Cherry Pie and Inquiry are old friends whose relationship sours after Cherry kidnaps Inquiry and reveals herself as a criminal.

    Cherry Pie

Cherry Pie

A "cherry" themed witch who runs her own restaurant. She's Inquiry's old friend, but it quickly becomes apparent that she's connected to Inquiry's current criminal investigation.
  • Addled Addict: Cherry's erratic behavior is due to her having consumed too many nuclei and having become addicted to the high eating one provides.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: Insane as Cherry may be in the game's present, she's still furious and disgusted when she thinks Inquiry is making the moves on her child sister.
  • I'm a Humanitarian: Has been hunting down and eating the nuclei of other witches to increase her magical energy and thus her lifespan.
  • Immortality Immorality: Extends her lifespan (and possibly that of Strawberry) by eating the nuclei of other witches.
  • Yandere: Cherry has been in love with Inquiry for a long while, due to Inquiry being one of the few stable parts of her life. This love eventually turns into an obsession, causing Cherry to drug and kidnap Inquiry, so she can force Inquiry to love her back.

    Cherry Pie's sister (Unmarked Spoilers)

Strawberry

The younger sister of Cherry Pie. For Tropes applying to her after she grows up, please go here.
  • Children Are Innocent: Remains upbeat and cheerful despite the horrors surrounding her and is completely oblivious to her sister's actions. Inquiry notes in the true ending that the severity of what's happened to her, namely finding out her sister is a cannibal Serial Killer hasn't set in yet.
  • Death of a Child: In the Strawberry Pie ending, she gets crushed to death by metal arms after Inquiry gives the wrong password for the cafe's security system.
  • Happily Adopted: In the true ending, Inquiry adopts her after Cherry's arrest.
