A series of missing person cases have been keeping detective witch Inquiry on her toes. Frustrated with her lack of progress, Inquiry decides to go for a small break in her favorite café, Cherry Pie's Café owned by her good friend Cherry Pie. As the two of them talk, Inquiry begins to suspect that Cherry knows more than she lets on...

Cherrywitched! is a short horror visual novel, created by Smilestrawbunny. It takes place in the same universe as Smilestrawbunny's previous game, Berrywitched!. The game is available for free on its itch.io page.

Contains Examples Of:

  • An Arm and a Leg: In the Cannibal Addict ending, Cherry cuts off Inquiry's legs, to keep her from trying to escape again. After deciding to make the legs into a pie, she then sporadically decides to cut Inquiry's hands off too, since she wants to taste as much as possible of Inquiry.
  • Bittersweet Ending: Strawberry is adopted by Inquiry, and Cherry is locked up. But Strawberry now has to live with her sister locked up and with the knowledge that she was a cannibal, and the other endings imply that the conspiracy that connects the Everlasting and the Council of Witches is still running, meaning more people may be killed for their nuclei.
  • Cannibalism Superpower: By consuming another witch's nucleus, a witch can expand their own life-span considerably. The Everlasting know this and kidnap and harvest witches in order to become immortal.
  • Consuming Passion: In the Cannibal Addict ending, Cherry becomes addicted to the taste of Inquiry's flesh after sawing off and eating her legs, due to her twisted love for Inquiry and her addiction to eating other witches becoming mushed together in her addled brain.
  • Death of a Child: Strawberry is a child who gets crushed to death in the Strawberry Pie ending.
  • Foreshadowing: Cherry is oddly focused on Inquiry eating her pie. The pie is laced with magic blockers and sedatives, so Cherry can kidnap Inquiry.
  • I Never Said It Was Poison: Inquiry starts getting suspicious of Cherry Pie when Cherry mentions the Everlasting, even though Inquiry didn't.
  • I Ate WHAT?!: After hearing about Cherry's Dark Secret, Strawberry (who's a witch) becomes "beyond horrified" when she realizes that she's eaten several of her sister's pies, with no way of knowing how many contained murdered witches.
  • Mistaken for Pedophile: A Rare Female Example and Played for Drama (this is a horror visual novel). In the "Sisterly Love" ending, Inquiry hides with Strawberry in a closet. Cherry then finds them, mistakenly thinks Inquiry was trying to molest her younger sister, and later furiously kills her.
  • Multiple Endings: The game has six different endings. Which one you get depends on how you choose to interrogate Cherry Pie and what further choices you make along the way.
    • To Go: Inquiry is unsuccessful in her interrogation of Cherry. Discouraged, she decides to just take her pie and go home, much to Cherry's seeming disappointment.
    • Strawberry Pie: Inquiry gives the wrong password to Cherry's security system. As a result, Strawberry is crushed to death by the metal arms. Inquiry is devastated and finds herself unable to go on.
    • Cannibal Addict: Inquiry decides to not investigate and instead go look for a way out. She finds a secret tunnel behind one of Cherry Pie's paintings and investigates. Much to her horror, Inquiry stumbles upon a gruesome scene of Cherry consuming another witch. After crawling to the end of the tunnel, Inquiry finds a secret room with a single file cabinet inside. She decides to read all the notes inside and stumbles upon a document that warns the reader that the consumption of nuclei can become addictive. Inquiry realizes that this is the reason for Cherry's psychotic behavior, but before she can do anything else, she's knocked out from behind. When Inquiry wakes up again, she's discovers to her horror that Cherry has sawed off her legs. Cherry muses about how great it will be to make Inquiry's legs into a pie and eat them and wonders whether she should cut Inquiry's hands off, too.
    • Confusion: Inquiry decides to not investigate and instead go look for a way out. She reads a few of the notes inside and finds out that the Everlasting are consuming the nucleus, the organ from which magic stems, of other witches to achieve everlasting life. Inquiry stops reading and tries to flee, but Cherry finds and knocks her out again. When Inquiry comes to, she's Bound and Gagged and Cherry tells her that she has no idea how deep the conspiracy around the Council of Witches and the Everlasting really goes.
    • Sisterly Love: Inquiry decides to hide both herself and Strawberry in the closet. Cherry finds them almost immediately after entering Strawberry's room. She misunderstands the situation and becomes enraged with Inquiry for seemingly trying to get with her baby sister. When Inquiry argues that she was trying to protect Strawberry from Cherry, Cherry only gets more mad, raving about how her and Strawberry's parents ended up dying from using all of their magic to keep their daughters alive and how Strawberry is the only family she has left. She then proceeds to murder Inquiry to protect Strawberry.
    • True Ending: Inquiry decides to hide Strawberry away in a cupboard, also handing her her communicator. She advises Strawberry to use the communicator to call for help once no one is in the room any more. Shortly after Cherry enters and drags Inquiry back to the secret backroom. Luckily Strawberry does manage to contact the Council of Witches and Cherry's café is swarmed by the authorities, who arrests Cherry and free Inquiry and Strawberry. After the horror is over, Inquiry decides to adopt Strawberry, voiwing to protect the little girl from now on.
  • The Secret of Long Pork Pies: Cherry bakes the harvested nuclei into her pies to be consumed by the other members of the Everlasting.
  • Shout-Out:
  • Stealth Sequel: The game is said to take place in the same universe as Berrywitched!, with witches who specialize in one certain thing and a society build around that concept. The two main characters are Inquiry, a detective witch investigating a series of kidnappings, and her old friend Cherry Pie, a fruit witch running a café who knows more than she lets on. If a certain route is chosen, Inquiry ends up meeting Cherry's little sister - Strawberry, the Deuteragonist of Berrywitched. Revealing that Cherrywitched was really a prequel to Berrywitched all along.
