Player Characters

    Amaya/Polaris (Naomi, Tamiko, and Amber)
(I swear I'll get to filling this out more, it just takes a while and I have Naomi on my mind right now.)

Naomi Novosad

Ancestry: Mutated Fleshwarp
Class: Forensic Medicine Investigator
A shrouded medic, kind but with a number of alarming traits and tics. Later becomes the head of the Paracelsian Clinic.
  • Amnesiac Hero: Doesn't remember much of anything before the aftermath of the accident which caused her condition, and even that event is obviously painful for her to recall.
  • Amnesiac Resonance: ...though some things do come unbidden, and sometimes seemingly without her notice.
  • Black Speech: Often mutters incomprehensible things in Aklo, usually in the middle of something else she's saying, and never consciously. Amusingly, Aklo is merely somewhat rare (though mostly spoken by appropriately sinister creatures), and this tendency usually isn't commented on.
  • Cloudcuckoolanguage: Downplayed. Occasionally mixes, substitutes or slurs her language, especially when stressed in some way, but she's aware of this and usually keeps herself in check. This trope became less prominent in general as she became more inactive (see below) and had other problems crop up.
  • Heroic BSoD: Falls into a pretty deep depression for several months following Carmillon's death. She herself acknowledges that it's an unusual case, since death isn't unknown to her as a doctor.
  • Mundane Horror: At least one scene taking place from her point of view paints a worrisome pictures of her mental state, but she doesn't usually seem inconvenienced or even phased by this unless she's under significant strain.
  • Sleepy Depressive: Throughout her long grieving period, as she's still running the clinic and rarely lets herself rest properly.
  • Trauma Button: Steadily refuses to acknowledge the existence of alchemy or otherwise think about her backstory. Pushing or prompting her on this usually goes poorly for her.

Miyagawa-Sato Tamiko

Ancestry: Empty Sky Kitsune (former Celestial Envoy)
Class: Life Oracle
Cursed with vague knowledge of the nature of life at a young age, Tamiko is a bright young noble with a penchant for stories who uses her power to keep them flourishing. Has a pet fox named Mikato and two oxen, Sho and Michi, which help pull her wagon.
  • Heroic Resolve: In both gameplay and story terms. High HP, tons of healing, a tendency to barely stay standing after an attack or help someone else do so, and most notably finding the will and magic to go on after her spirit was nearly ripped to shreds within the Shadow Plane, courtesy of her connection to Daggoth.
  • Immortality Through Memory: A firm believer in this, due to the nature of her oracular mystery. Extending it to everyone she reasonably can is one of her primary goals as an adventurer.

Amber Cassidy Claie

Ancestry: Oread Human
Class: Vanguard Gunslinger
The lost daughter that Beth was seeking, and a former bandit driving away her mother with the help of her wife. Amber is still foul-mouthed, bloodthirsty and generally unpleasant, but she's also started to settle into a gentler life with her remaining family.
  • Heroic BSoD: Breaks down once she learns the truth about her mother, and is still in this state once taken on by a player.
  • Promoted to Playable: Introduced as an NPC on a quest, and the subject of Beth's personal storyline. After a lot of soul-searching, she decided to stick around as an adventurer for the Guild.
  • Sir Swears-a-Lot: Usually can't go a sentence or two without cursing.

Alciri Sekhomat

Someone from Naomi's past.

    TheNinjaPhilosopher (Uzuto)

Sukemoru Uzuto

Ancestry: Versatile Human
Class: Monk

    Elvira
Ancestry: Shoony
Sole proprietor and bartender of The Blinking Pug, a Guild-sponsored inn and tavern which features free room and board for all of their adventurers. Needless to say, she is very busy, everyone knows her, and few dare to trifle with her.
  • Almighty Janitor: Sometimes implied to be an incredibly powerful spellcaster, and the reason why The Blinking Pug has seemingly infinite rooms and food and can supply so many people without ever being cramped. How much of this is a joke is unclear.
  • Nice Girl: Genuinely pleasant and kind to almost everyone, despite her constant and sometimes thankless work.
