This is where we address the tropes of individual people/countries from Aeia.

Aramas

  • Corrupt Church: The Alydian church in Aramas is notable for its vast connections to the military regime.
  • The Generalissimo: President Gelormo Muscat is the all-knowing, all-powerful ruler for life of Aramas.
  • General Failure: Whilst President Muscat may be the most feared and powerful man in the country, his military strategies usually leave much to be desired.
  • La RĂ©sistance: The rag-tag band of brothers that make up the Free Republic of Aramas are always looking to overthrow the evil Muscat regime.
  • Military Coup: The current military regime took control in a coup to stop those dirty communists taking power.
  • Mountain Man: The inhabitants of the Abjad mountains are notable for their more naturalist way of life compared with the rest of the country.
  • Qurac: Aramas is always causing trouble on the international scene be it through international terrorism, or border disputes with its neighbour Atresca.
  • Your Terrorists Are Our Freedom Fighters: The lines between terrorist and freedom fighter are regularly blurred among those fighting within the Abjad mountains.

Brilliania

  • Artifact Title: The Freedom Movement in its later years when it evolved from an independence movement into a dominant party until the Blue Revolution in 2000.
  • Cannon Fodder: The Brillian army has been seriously weakened due to a lack of conscription and mass avoidement of the conscription decree issued due to the Triskaideka War, causing a narrow plurality of the army budget to be spent on the development of military rations.
  • Royally Screwed Up: The Brillian monarchy ended in 1933 after a son of the king murdered the Prince and several relatives. The murder kickstarted the bombing of the Parliament during a session and a communist coup. The murderer was a communist himself and lived peacefully in the ASU until his death in 1956.
  • Strawman News Media: Jendea (The People) is often regarded as gutter feed journalism. Depending on your political views, Egunkari Hobea (The Better Newspaper) and Estiloik Gabe (Styleless) might qualify as well.

Crylante

  • Balkanise Me: After the Great War, Lilledel, Rigjord and Nausikaa, Crylante's three cultural regions, were split from each other, unifying fifteen years later into Crylante.
  • Decided by One Vote:
    • The previous High Jarl's son was chosen as High Jarl by one vote in 1301... this led to unrest and the runner up starting a civil war, in which he was successful, ending the elective monarchy in favour of a hereditary system.
    • The centre-left Socialist Party and the classical liberal Reform Party came first and second in the 2013 and 2017 elections by a very small margin.
  • Elective Monarchy: Used between 1021-1302 and 1915-1941 (1900-1915 in Lilledel as well) as a system of government; in the first period the monarch was elected by the nobles while in the second it was elected by the people as a whole.
  • Non-Heteronormative Society: The influence of Truathi on Crylantian society has led to a lack of stigma about gay sex, leading to a very liberal attitude towards homosexuality in Crylante.
  • The Federation: Crylante's official name is the Crylantian Federation, consisting of 21 states and one overseas territory.
  • Multiple Government Polity: Crylante's states range from the very liberal cities of Lentini and Nebligen, to the financial haven of Lillehavn, to the isolated, traditionalist islands of Viikmaa, to the agrarian, rural states of Glostrup, Gunderslev and Vestplan.
  • Norse by Norsewest: Crylante is strongly influenced by the Nordic countries, especially Denmark and Finland.
  • Vice President Who?: Crylante's head of state is supposedly a council of seven people, yet Director for Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade Jenný Anadottir gets mentioned much more than the other six.
  • We ARE Struggling Together: Crylante being the union of three distinct cultures that don't always get on can lead to this.

Liberimery

  • All Elections Are Serious Business: Zig-Zagged: For a Semi-Direct Democracy, Liberimery has very low voter turn outs, though elections happen 3 times a year, every year. Most of these are state or local level elections, so they don't get national attention... though since recalling elected officials is a right of their constituency, breaking news of an important politician's successful recall can come from out of no where.
  • Badass Army: Averted. As an island nation and one that is neutral, Liberimery has not been in state of war since it's founding and does not have a standing army full time. Both out of cost cutting concerns and state governments being historically better equipped to handle any needs a traditional army would provide in defensive capacities, Liberimery's individual states do all have standing armies similar to the United States' National Guards. This also frees up the Federal Government to spend more on a more sensible defense: A Badass Navy!
  • Drives Like Crazy: A common joke is Liberimerians will make Right Turns On Red, despite the law clearly saying they drive on the left.
  • Hegemonic Empire: While the initial formation was of a collection of colonies of Asuran powers that more or less shared cultural elements, it's later expansions were from islands who's colonial powers had all but abandoned them following the first Great War. Liberimery kept them supplied and offered much needed aid and they subsequently petitioned for joining the nation.
  • Talk Like a Pirate: This is what the Liberimarian Accent sounds like. In universe, September 19th (Talk Like a Pirate Day) is the major Patriotic Holiday, celebrating the first seating of the modern government.

Midrasia

  • Badass Army: The Midrasian army is known for its imitation of the Fiorentine legions, giving rise to some incredibly harsh disciplinary measures.
  • Full-Circle Revolution: The Midrasian Civil War in the 17th century saw the deposition of an authoritarian monarch in favour of an equally as authoritarian republican dictator.
  • Hereditary Republic: Despite being one of the first Asuran Republics, for much of the Old Midrasian Republic the country was ruled by the House of Devreux.
  • Mutually Assured Destruction: Midrasia is one of the few nations in the region to have nuclear weapons.
  • Nasty Party: Midrasian history is full of massacres at banquets or weddings, from the Betrayal at Mydroll to the Sixty Years' War.
  • Smart People Know Latin: The Midrasian Renaissance saw an active attempt by the country's elite to make the country more Fiorentine, much to the chagrin of Aquidneck.
  • The Republic: Midrasia was the first country to undergo a transition from monarchy to republic.
  • You Were Trying Too Hard: Midrasia has a tendency to do very well at the annual Copa d'Aeia, only to fall at the final hurdle.
