Ruling Party: Kommunisticheskaya Partiya Sovetskogo Soyuzanote Communist Party of the Soviet Union
Ideology: Marxism-Leninismnote Communism
As the Soviet Union burned following its failure in the First West Russian War of 1955, its loyal Red Army and Politburo Members refused to yield to the German invaders. In the dark days after the Union's collapse, Mikhail Suslov, Marshal Zhukov, Nikita Khruschchev and Genrikh Yagoda carried on the dreams of the Union into separate entities, cast adrift by Traitors, Idealists and Fascists who wished to emulate the Horrid German ideology. Despite these setbacks, the loyal men of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics managed to reunite the country in 1972, putting an end to Russia's Smuta Era. Taking advantage of Germany's Stagnation and the Power Struggle which resulted from Albert Speer Sr.'s death, the Union launched Operation Bagration in 1981 and liberated Paktkommission Russland by 1984, which was still healing from the Slave Revolt and the Militarists' Rebellion. General Secretary Viktor Grishin, Mikhail Suslov's successor, signed the Treaty of Riga which ended the Second West Russian War with the cessation of Moscowien.

In-Game Biography Click to ShowWhen the Soviet Union collapsed in the aftermath of the First Great Patriotic War, even the laziest of speculators could have foreseen that, if the Motherland were to ever be reunited under the monarchical system of old, a man by the name of “Romanov” could return to the gilded summit of the Kremlin. Few, however, could have predicted this scenario would come to pass in a renewed Red Russia. In 1923, Grigory Romanov was born into a small peasant family from Novgorod. A soldier in the First Great Patriotic War, Romanov watched through tear-blurred eyes as an army of skull-capped barbarians tore his beloved country to pieces. Gravely wounded from the grueling fight, he hunkered down in Gorky, biding his time as the Red Army withdrew into the frigid Russian interior.Years later, as Mikhail Suslov began to reforge the ravaged pieces of the old Union, Romanov entered the ranks of what would, post-reunification, eventually evolve into the reborn Communist Party of the Soviet Union. Through the years, Romanov ascended through the Party ranks, eventually earning a reputation as one of the Politburo’s most prominent members for his role in presiding over the de-germanization and reconstruction of the Leningrad Oblast following the Soviet Victory in the Third Great Patriotic War.General Secretary Suslov would perish in 1982, followed by his successor, Viktor Grishin, ten years later. At last, it was Romanov’s turn to take the mantle of General Secretary — the third to do so since the Union’s reunification. As the year 2000 approaches, Romanov is determined to continue Suslov's vision of collective leadership and his grand synthesis. All the while, he eyes the occupied lands to the west, dreaming of the day when they, too, shall be liberated by proletarian arms.

In-Game Biography Click to ShowThe death of the Soviet Union should’ve also heralded the death of communism in Russia. Instead, the Union’s collapse created generations of young Russians who swore through clenched teeth to bring back the glory of the USSR, avenge the Great Patriotic War, and behead the despicable Teutonic serpent lurking to the west. Gennady Yanayev, Premier of the reborn Soviet Union, embodies the vengeful spirit of this generation to a tee.Born in Gorky in 1937, Yanayev was only a child when the USSR collapsed into a miserable mosaic of squabbling warlord states. Having studied as a mechanical engineer, he spent much of his young adulthood producing tanks for the Gorky Military Commission, and when Gorky finally reunited with the Communist Party of Komi in 1964, he joined the reformed KPSS and briefly led the Gorky Komsomol. An active member of the Defence Industry Workers Union in western Russia, Yanayev rose to become the Leader of the All-Union Central Council of Trade Unions after the Second Great Patriotic War. In this role, he was instrumental in rebuilding union organizations in the newly-liberated Moscow territories. With Grigory Romanov’s rise to power in 1992, Yanayev's success in integrating the Moscow territories and outspoken support for Romanov led to his appointment as Premier of the USSR. Now, as the second most powerful man in all of Russia, Yanayev’s long-held dream to emancipate the entirety of his Motherland’s stolen territories is, at last, within reach.

In-Game Biography Click to ShowWith each amber sunrise, the behemoth-sized shadow of the Soviet Union looms larger over the Volkshalle. But even the mightiest of giants are nothing without reliable allies by their side — and Alexander Bessmertnykh is one of them.Born in 1933 in the vast Siberian tundra, Bessmertnykh was just ten years old when he lost his father in the torrid fires of the Great Patriotic War. From then on, he was forced to rely on his mother, who moved his family to Chelyabinsk. There, (despite his moderate communist views) Bessmertnykh became an administrator in the West Siberian People’s Republic, quietly rising through the ranks until Khrushchev’s interparty coup of Kaganovich. Having somehow avoided the ensuing purges, Bessmertnykh played a minor role in the reunification negotiations between Khrushchev and Suslov and, much later, the final reunification of the entirety of Russia.Post-reunification, the light of Bessmertnykh's rising star fully shined during the USSR-Japan Treaty of Sapporo negotiations, during which his silver tongue secured Vladivostok and a handful of other Japanese-occupied territories for the USSR. In 1976, Bessmertnykh, assigned the post of US Ambassador, established full diplomatic relations between the USSR and the United States, forging an unbreakable partnership to oppose the murderous regime in Germania. He was shortly thereafter promoted to Foreign Minister under Romanov’s premiership, the position he continues to hold to this day.It is thanks to Bessmertnykh’s diligent alliance-building that, today, at the cusp of the Third Millennium, the USSR is more prepared than ever to end, once and for all, the scourge of National Socialism that has plagued the people of Europe for over half a century. Should the Third Great Patriotic war ever come to pass, Bessmertnyk will be the man to facilitate support from the soaring eagle across the Pacific

In-Game Biography Click to ShowWhat better place to put your fiercest rival for the top job than your very own cabinet? You get to keep a constant eye on all of their business, and the moment they commit any blunder, big or small, you’ve got a free excuse to toss them out with next week’s trash. That’s what Anatoly Lukyanov believes is happening, at least. Why the hell else would Grigory Romanov, of all people, offer him the cushy post of Finance Minister?!Driven from his hometown of Smolensk during the First Great Patriotic War, Lukyanov and his family — sans the fresh, shrapnel-ridden corpse of his father — fled to the Far East before finally settling down in Magadan. Once Yagoda’s forces finally liberated the area , Lukyanov joined up with the local Communist Party branch. He soon ascended to the rank of Port Manager for Magadan, helping to liberalize the economy and establish “Special Economic Zones” within certain parts of the city. Post-reunification, Lukyanov, a supporter of the state capitalism brought in by Yagoda, rocketed up the ranks of the Communist Party. After the death of Viktor Grishin, Lukyanov was one of the favorites to succeed him as General Secretary, but he was ultimately bested by Grigory Romanov...the rat-faced bastard.Lukyanov may not be General Secretary just yet, but even so, what better place to be than the cabinet of your fiercest rival? While he may have put you there to shut you up, he’s got to spend a large chunk of time and effort keeping a close eye on you. If you know what you’re doing, of course, you can still get away with some shady dealings here and there — not that Romanov’s dependable Finance Minister would ever deign to sink so low.Yes, Anatoly Lukyanov may not be running the show just yet, but he’s already got the next act scripted and ready to go once old Romanov exits stage left.

Party: Kommunisticheskaya Partiya Sovetskogo Soyuza - Ministerstvo Gosudarstvennoy Bezopasnostinote Communist Party of the Soviet Union - MGB
Ideology: Marxism-Leninismnote Communism
In-Game Biography Click to ShowCritics of the USSR say that the MGB is simply a cudgel weighted to crush any and all dissent. The MGB, of course, flatly rejects these baseless criticisms. After all, under Vladimir Kryuchkov’s watchful eye, dissenting opinions are allowed to be spoken freely...as long as they happen to be the correct ones.Born in 1924 in Stalingrad, Kryuchkov originally studied to be a lawyer, but was forced, alongside his family, to flee eastwards as German troops laid siege to the city. Eventually settling in Irkutsk, he finished his law studies and worked for a time as a prosecuting attorney. Kryuchkov’s uncanny ability to break down even the toughest of defendants attracted the attention of Yagoda’s NKVD, and, after a handful of enticing offers, Kryuchkov soon donned the badge of an NKVD agent.Kryuchkov’s first missions primarily involved breaking Sablin’s Mutiny and smothering dissent against the Presidium. After reunification, Kryuchkov worked to sow dissent in Eastern Europe in the leadup to the Second Great Patriotic War, all the while climbing the ranks of the NKVD. In 1988, he was finally promoted to head of the reorganized MGB.With the post-reunification dissent from right-wing groups now residing comfortably in the past, Kryuchkov’s MGB now turns its gaze inward. A hardline Communist, Kryuchkov fears what the reforms of Lukyanov and his “Pragmatists” could bring to the USSR — and he will not hesitate to “offer a helping hand” should the reforms go too far...

In 1975, the Empire of Japan and the Soviet Union agreed to discuss the status of Outer Manchuria, due to the decades long Partisan warfare ravaging Manchukuo. Their negotiations ultimately culminated in the Treaty of Sapporo, which reinstated the long-forgotten Far Eastern Republic of the 1920s. Though technically under de jure Soviet control, the territory was fully demilitarised in order to calm Japanese concerns that Vladivostok could once again 'be wielded as a naval dagger at the Heart of Nippon'. Though the treaty was far from perfect, Soviet officials, more concerned with the upcoming Second West Russian War, agreed without much pushback. Nowadays, however, many in the Politburo have expressed dissatisfaction with the current arrangement, equating the demilitarisation to the humiliation Russia suffered in 1905. Nevertheless, so long as the fascist menace of Germania occupies Eastern Europe and the Caucasus, the status of the Far Eastern Republic seems destined to languish on the political backburner.

Role: Head of State
Party: Kommunisticheskaya Partiya Dalnevostochnaya Respublika - Pragmatistnote Communist Party of the Far Eastern Republic - Pragmatist
Ideology: Yagodschinanote Communism
In-Game Biography Click to Show Yevgeny Ivanovich Nazdratenko was born in the far away land of the Pacific, distanced from the Union's crushing defeats in the First Great Patriotic War against the fascist beasts of Germania. Nevertheless, he and his family experienced the repercussions of the Soviet collapse. Born in 1949 at the town of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, he was but a boy when Yagoda's Presidium of the Supreme Soviet was torn apart by the heirs of Harbin, leaving the Soviet Pacific Navy stranded in Kamchatka. Despite these setbacks, Yagoda managed to recoup and regroup, reclaiming the Far East and reuniting with the Red Fleet, bringing about some semblance of stability.
As the Soviet Union reunited, Nazdratenko attended the Vladivostok State University of Economics and Service, renamed from the Urajio State University when the Union successfully negotiated a return of Outer Manchuria from Japan. Nazdratenko graduated in 1983 with a specialization in Economics, and took interest in Yagoda and Kosygin's System of Cost Accounting, whereby corporations and limited open markets would be tolerated by the Presidium to accelerate the “developmental” stage of Socialism.
With a promotion to the position of Chairman of the FER in 1993, Nazdratenko will aim to build on the Legacy of Yagoda and his System of Cost Accounting, and if he performs his duties to a high standard, perhaps even Moskva can take inspiration from Yagoda's Theories in full…
