In-Game Biography Click to Show Sejima Ryūzō's rule of Manchukuo, the Crown Jewel of the Empire of Japan, has been turbulent at best. Following Puyi's death in 1967, Sejima came up on top in the power struggle for leadership and abolished the Monarchy, removing the last semblance of legitimacy for Manchukuo. He built up the Military-Industrial Complex of the country with high efficiency, purging the Concordia Association in the process, effecting ruling Manchuria as a military dictator. Sejima's work was cut short with the Great Asian War, as he witnessed Morita switching sides to the traitors in Nanjing to preserve his fiefdom in Guangzhou, along with the ROC capturing Jehol Province from his rule. Unlike the rat Morita, Sejima will never be a traitor to Japan, and he will do his utmost to ensure Manchukuo will remain a loyal subject in defending Tokyo's interests against the backstabbers in Nanjing or the Bolsheviks in Moscow.

In-Game Biography Click to ShowWhen Norio Ōga wrote a letter to the Sony Corporation complaining of the quality of its tape recorders and its failures, the last thing he expected back was an offer for a job at Sony. Yet a job opportunity he got, and how Ōga is the CEO of Sony and, more importantly, Chief Executive of the Pearl River Delta SEZ.
Starting off as a Sound and Electrical Engineering consultant, Ōga rose rapidly up the company, becoming a Director and even leading Sony’s Music Division during the 1970s. He helped Sony expand swiftly into the Chinese Music Market and establish stakes in new markets such as Australia and even the Russian Far East. He also assisted with creating Sony’s Video Game Division.
He was made Sony President in 1985, the second highest position within the corporation. When CEO Akio Morita stepped down in 1989, Ōga was his replacement as CEO, but also as Chief Executive of the Pearl River Delta SEZ, leaving him with massive shoes to fill. That's not to mention the balancing act between China, who could dissolve them with a squad of Soldiers, and Japan, which could cut off their market access to the CPS with the flick of a pen. Few envy him, but that's not to say no one else wants his job.

Chuan Leekpai
Role: Presidentnote Head ofState
Party: Prachatipat Partynote Democrat Party
Ideology: Free-Market Conservatismnote Conservatism
In-Game Biography Click to Show A Hokkien descent from a third-generation Peranakan family, Chuan Leekpai was born in the year 1938 in Thailand’s coastal Trang Province. One of nine siblings from a devoutly religious family, Leekpai spent much of his early life studying at a prominent Buddhist school in Bangkok.
Having always held a keen interest in government and law, Leekpai would later attend Thammasat University, another prominent Bangkok academy. Admitted to the school despite a less-than-stellar entrance exam score, Leekpai's indefatigable work ethic would redeem him over the following years. After several exhausting years of study, he would eventually earn his keep as a barrister at the Thai Bar Association.
Within the world of Thai law, the newly-minted barrister would quickly make a name for himself by presiding over several high-profile civil and criminal cases. His charm and quick wit popularized his name throughout the nation — and Leekpai, energized by his newfound fame, began the arduous climb toward the prestigious office he could only dream of holding as a boy — the Thai Presidency. A few campaigns and a brief stint in the National Assembly later, fortune would smile upon him, and he would at last achieve his dream to be sworn in as the President of Thailand.
The eyes of the nation now closely scrutinize the charismatic barrister who charmed his way to the highest office in the land. Some say that his voluminous legal expertise and seemingly-infinite charisma is already enough to cement his legacy as one of Thailand’s greatest leaders. Others, however, suspect President Leekpai’s administration to be naught but a paper tiger, ready to collapse into a heap of ashes at the slightest spark...
Chavalit Yongchaiyut
Role: Prime Ministernote Head of Government
Party: Prachatipat Partynote Democrat Party
Ideology: Transitioning Democracynote Paternalism
In-Game Biography Click to ShowLong before he became a household name, Chavalit “Big Jiew” Yongchaiyudh was already commended as a diligent, admirable role model for the Thai populace.
Born in 1932 in Thailand’s metropolitan Nonthaburi province, Yongchaiyudh has long been lionized throughout his country as one of the nation’s most accomplished military officers. A highly skilled serviceman, Yongchaiyudh honed his martial expertise while training with the Imperial Japanese Army in Okinawa. Though he began his career as a lowly private, Yongchaiyudh’s zealous patriotic spirit lifted him swiftly through the ranks of the Thai military. In a matter of years, he had attained the Royal Thai Army’s second-highest rank of “Phon ek” — General.
After retiring from military service, Yongchaiyudh entered the political sphere, where he became known as an honest politician who firmly upholds democratic principles. Yongchaiyudh, once considered a shoe-in for the Thai Presidency, has multiple times taken his name out of the running or outright declined the office when it was offered to him, much preferring to work behind the scenes. As President Leepkai’s second-in-command, he can do just that, working round-the-clock to ensure the eternal preservation of Thai democracy.
Surin Pitsuwan
Role: Minister of Foreign Affairsnote Foreign Minister
Party: Prachatipat Partynote Democrat Party
Ideology: Social Democracynote Progressivism
In-Game Biography Click to ShowSurin Pitsuwan, President Leekpai’s dependable Foreign Minister, was born in 1949 among the craggy hills of Nakhon Si. Though Pitsuwan seldom seeks media attention, he is an essential asset within the Leekpai administration, renowned as an immensely-skilled envoy whose shrewd negotiation skills have consistently yielded favorable outcomes for Thailand and its people.
Pitsuwan's remarkable soothsaying abilities have allowed Thailand to forge a number of strong alliances with its East Asian neighbors, but none are more robust than Thailand’s affable relationship with the Republic of China. The precise reasons for this diplomatic closeness are complex and multifaceted, but one thing can be said for certain — Pitsuwan’s Chinese heritage certainly hasn’t dampened things.
Chawarat Charnvirakul
Role: Minister of Financenote Economy Minister
Party: Prachatipat Partynote Democrat Party
Ideology: Corporate Paternalismnote Paternalism
In-Game Biography Click to ShowChawarat Charnvirakul, born in 1936 in Thailand’s bustling capital of Bangkok, is widely regarded as one of Southeast Asia’s most gifted entrepreneurs.
Charnvirakul’s fervent passion for all things architecture has left an indelible impression on Thai skylikes from Chiang Mai to Narathiwat. His extensive portfolio of constructions is truly a marvel to behold — in fact, Charnvirakul’s craftsmanship and attention to detail is so remarkable that Thai citizens often mistake any impressive structure as one of his.
Charnvirakul embarked on his entrepreneurial journey in his mid-twenties, overseeing the construction of several notable projects such as the Suvarnabhumi Airport and the Sappaya Council University Lecturer Development Project. He would find a great deal of success in his various business ventures, and over the years, would amass enough wealth and influence to make significant “contributions” to various government policies — especially with regard to taxation, zoning laws, and construction contracts.
Whether or not his conduct over the years has been entirely ethical, Charnvirakul’s profound understanding of mathematics and astute business acumen have positioned him as a go-to expert for directing the complex economy of Southeast Asia’s largest nation. Is it any wonder how this economic whiz kid ended up in the cabinet of President Leekpai?
Surayut Chulanon
Role: Minister of Interiornote Security Minister
Party: Prachatipat Partynote Democrat Party
Ideology: Right-Wing Populismnote Paternalism
In-Game Biography Click to ShowBorn into a proud military family, Surayut Chulanont’s earliest childhood days were spent playing soldier in the low-lying river valleys of the Prachinburi province. Young Chulanot’s world was shaken, however, when the father he idolized — a highly-decorated officer in the Royal Thai Army — renounced his military ties, abandoning his family to defect to the Communist Party of Thailand.
Chulanot is known throughout the Thai military as a man of few words, but after a drink or two, even he can’t help but rant and rave about his “rotten commie bastard” of a father. It’s no surprise, then, that the patriotic Chulanont would embark on a lifelong military career as soon as he could, attending the prestigious Army Staff Course in Japan after serving as a second lieutenant during the 1960s. Chulanont actively participated in combat operations against communist insurgents in the Thai countryside — simply, some say to, spite the man who betrayed him and his kin.
Chulanot would serve a number of years as a General in the Royal Thai Army before attaining the position he holds today — the Commander-in-Chief of the Army and President Leekpai’s hand-picked Minister of Security. In this role, Chulanont draws a hard line against any slight whiff of communist activity. Whether or not his father still lives is none of Chulanot’s concern — the wretched ideology which led father astray, however, is another story.

In-Game Biography Click to Show“Glory belongs to the young people who realize themselves early, dare to set out to overcome all difficulties and hardships, and commit to the Fatherland.” How did Võ Văn Kiệt make his way to this current position? He was born in a poor family in Vĩnh Long; at the age of 16, he soon took part in the anti-imperialist movement. Kiệt was rescued from a Kempeitai post in 1951 and discovered the death of his wife and children upon being freed. Having no time for grief, he immediately began his tiresome journey to the headquarters in the north. Võ Văn Kiệt was deeply admired by the Party members because of his imagination and intrepidity. He dominated almost every debate with his far-sighted rhetoric and idealistic visions. During the war, he oversaw infrastructure projects and became the head of the provisional administration of Huế in 1978. After the war, Kiệt became adored by the people thanks to his economic and social reforms in the late 1980s. His ambitious plan to construct a grand network of power grids across the country was a massive icing on the cake for him, thanks to his management and the coordinated support from the ROC and USSR. The Party elevated him, eventually he was promoted to General Secretary in 1991. He wants to turn Vietnam into a truly progressive, equal and prosperous nation through “Đổi Mới” - a series of liberalization and renovation of the country. Although its effectiveness has been largely reduced by many conditions, the reforms succeeded in bringing unprecedented growth. Kiệt's diligent effort to weed out the 'extremists' from the Party has largely succeeded. For the time being, under his benevolent leadership, all factions within the Party are working together for the sake of the nation.
Đỗ Mười
Role: Head of Government
Party: CPV(C)note Communist Party of Vietnam
Ideology: Marxism-Leninism note Communism
In-Game Biography Click To ShowĐỗ Mười became the President in 1991. He was renowned for being a devout follower of Marxist-Leninist doctrine and a staunch supporter of a return to communist orthodoxy. On a particular occasion, he struck a chord after saying: "Capitalists are like sewer rats; whenever one sees them popping up one must smash them to death!". Now to answer the rather tricky question: How did a hardliner like him become prominent in an increasingly reformist environment? As it turns out, he nominally allied with the reformist wing since 1992 and showed a supportive stance towards Kiệt’s reforms - hence he became trusted by Kiệt thanks to his architectural skills and dodged multiple political purges. But as Võ Văn Kiệt grows older day by day, Mười slowly expresses his true ideological intentions and consolidates his position as the de-facto leader of the conservative faction within the CPV.To him - ‘Đổi Mới’ is but an insidious conspiracy to defy and contravene the true principles of the revolution and bring corrupt capitalism to Vietnam. Mười has plans to transform Vietnam into the immortal bastion of communism in Southeast Asia, regardless of how long it takes him to prepare.
Lê Đức Anh
Role: Minister of Defence
Party: CPV(M)note Communist Party of Vietnam
Ideology: Stratocratic Communism note Communism
In-Game Biography Click To ShowHaving led the armies of the Việt Minh through the hardest battles of the Liberation War - Lê Đức Anh is considered one of the ‘top dogs’ of the military, a war hero and charismatic figure within the Communist Party of Vietnam. Being a staunch conservative, Anh narrowly avoided persecution by the reformist faction - thanks to his reputation amongst senior Party members and most of the military officers. Anh is considered even more uncompromising than Đỗ Mười, and repeatedly recommended maintaining a tight leash on both domestic and foreign affairs. As a man who has fought tirelessly in the brutal war - he wants the armed forces to gain the authority to become more involved in politics and governmental affairs. But unfortunately, his militarist clique has experienced a significant decline in influence and members - which has forced him to make a pragmatic deal with Đỗ Mười’s conservative wing. However, his belief remains unchanged. Lê Đức Anh has always considered the army to be the true cornerstone of the revolution - and no politicians could ever have a better backbone to carry out such an important task.
Lê Minh Hương
Role: Minister of Public Security
Party: CPV(S)note Communist Party of Vietnam
Ideology: Bolshevismnote Communism
In-Game Biography Click To ShowLê Minh Hương himself is an interesting man. Hương didn’t commit only to the People’s Public Security - but surprisingly, he also served as head of the People's Committee of Hà Tĩnh, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs and was a member of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for many years. Hương’s attitude towards the power struggle within the Party is nonchalant, as he knows his sole job is to protect and serve the nation as the Minister of Public Security. But does he have his independent ideology? Hương believes in the creation of a counterintelligence state in Vietnam - dominated by the MPS, and functions based on a pragmatic socialist system - technically speaking, something of a totalitarian communist regime, but with a mixed economy. Hương is fine with serving under either a Reformist, Conservative or a Militarist government. But should the Party find itself torn apart by the race for influence between these three factions - Hương knows exactly what to do.

In-Game Biography Click to ShowBorn in Sa Đéc, 1925, Dương Hiếu Nghĩa studied in Đà Lạt military school and became a renowned tank commander during the war - thanks to his trophies in the battles of Thanh Hóa and Huế. Well-known by most people, Nghĩa was a staunch supporter of Nguyễn Khánh’s junta, Nghĩa himself ordered his tank division to blockade Huế and shoot down several buildings suspected to be the shelters of pro-monarchy forces. During the war, his armored division successfully penetrated the exposed fortifications of the Việt Minh in Thanh Hóa, and performed remarkably in the long and brutal defense of Huế in the final month of the conflict. As a considerably influential figure in the ARVN and a trusted partner of Nguyễn Khánh, Nghĩa consistently remained as an important military general who had a concrete political position under the administrations of Nguyễn Văn Thiệu and Nguyễn Cao Kỳ. After officially coming to power in 1991, Nghĩa proved himself to be an autocratic and militaristic leader. He somewhat reminds the South Vietnamese people of the NMC’s leadership from 1965-1978 - mainly due to the increased presence of the military and new regulations of political parties. Nghĩa’s prevalence as the most powerful man in the government occurred in quite an unenviable period where there is a renewed wave of disorientation, looming economic stagnation and an ongoing crisis within the apparatus. With the ‘National Malaise’ still in full-swing, Nghĩa has to deal with the situation while balancing the interests of factions within the government.

Ideology: Authoritarian Developmentalismnote Paternalism
In-Game Biography: Click To ShowBefore becoming the second most powerful man in the Republic, Bùi Diễm was the ambassador to the Empire of Japan for 10 years. In the early 1980s, facilitated by the growing influence of the NPGV within the government, Bùi Diễm’s role became much more important. Diễm served as an advisor on foreign policies and sometimes even essential internal policies. During Nguyễn Cao Kỳ’s reign, he was a moderate politician within the cabinet that advised Kỳ to loosen his grip to implement minimal reforms, which succeeded to some extent. Diễm is and has always been fighting to save the image of the Republic - and he is considered the strongest reform-minded figurehead under Nghĩa’s presidency. Influenced by his previous visits to Guangdong and Chōsen, Diễm believes that in order to thrive, the Republic has to follow these models, prioritize larger corporations with high competitiveness and productivity while absorbing or regulating smaller, uncompetitive ones to secure maximum growth. Diễm himself has several plans to further integrate Vietnam into the Sphere’s economic bloc while strengthening self-sufficiency and empowering state-sponsored oligarchic families. With the turbulence in the country becoming more severe than ever, what’s in store for him?
Lê Minh Đảo
Role: Minister of National Defense
Party: ONROnote Organization of National Revolutionary Officers
Ideology: Revolutionary Nationalismnote Fascism
In-Game Biography Click to ShowWho was the intrinsical guardian of the Republic during its most perilous time? To hardliners and veterans alike, the answer is undeniably, Lê Minh Đảo. April 19th, 1978, will be forever remembered as the day when Đảo’s ascendancy as top military commander of the ARVN became a reality. Đảo led the ARVN’s most experienced division during the bloody battle of Đà Nẵng, in which he effectively demobilized the Việt Minh and took the initiative to retaliate. Đảo then slowly rose up to power and became the Chief of the Joint General Staff in 1990. Đảo has never been on the same wavelength with politicians. To him - they’re just a bunch of sheeps, too afraid and greedy to act for the benefits of the nation. While he and his sons were shedding tears and blood in the battlefield - their so-called leaders were enjoying the spoils behind the line; and his peacetime proposal to purge the military and government of corrupt people even fell on deaf ears. Đảo is leading the ONRO - a nationalistic, radical and hawkish clique of officers who seek to finish what the previous junta couldn’t: completely unroot weakness from the core of the state. Will Đảo choose to grin and bear under this nascent regime? Or will he rise up and reshape the Republic under his iron-willed vision? Only time will tell.
Nguyễn Xuân Oánh
Role: Minister of Finance
Party: NSDF(D)note National Social Democratic Front
Ideology: Market Liberalismnote Liberal Conservatism
In-Game Biography Click To ShowNguyễn Xuân Oánh was an exceptional pupil at Kyoto University and the National College of Japan from 1944 to 1955. According to Japanese documents, he was even persuaded to stay in Tokyo to teach economics as a university lecturer. Upon returning to Vietnam, he was appointed Governor of the Central Bank in 1965, following Nguyễn Khánh’s military coup d'etat and the establishment of the Republic. In 1990, Oánh got the promotion to Minister of Finance and was completely put in charge of the nation’s economy. Oánh is not happy with the Republic’s distressing entry into the 1990s. He indicates that South Vietnam needs to completely alter its economy, in a way that differs the rushed reforms under Nguyễn Cao Kỳ’s presidency. Oánh likes neither Bùi Diễm’s idea of an oligarchic economy nor the current outdated policies. According to him - individual freedom must be commonplace and absolute, regardless of the potential risks. Based on his extensive knowledge about economics, the Republic can implement privatization at a much faster rate than its northern rival - and ignoring this potential would be such a foolish act.Oánh is the spearhead of the liberal wing of the Nationalist Party of Greater Vietnam, and is reinforced by the strong support from the intelligentsia. Many are still wondering if Oánh can establish a concrete position - especially in a sea of despots and radicals.

In-Game Biography Click to ShowHà Thúc Ký was born in Huế and was the youngest of eight children. Ký studied in the University of Hanoi and succeeded in getting a bachelor’s degree in engineering. After the Japanese takeover of Indochina, Ký became a member of the Nationalist Party of Vietnam and took part in the fight against the Việt Minh. Many people defined Ký as a ‘man who is at war with everybody’ due to his perplexing relationship with almost every leader of the Republic. Under Vũ Ngọc Anh’s administration, he was at odds with the corrupt nature of the government and disdained the display of weakness toward the communist insurgents. When Nguyễn Khánh abolished the monarchy in 1965, Ký was re-invited into the government to serve as Minister of Internal Affairs; however, this quickly ended as Ký and Khánh failed to find a common ground. In 1980, Nguyễn Văn Thiệu signed a decree which outlawed other political parties - and Ký was persecuted in the process, as Thiệu saw him as a threat. However, under the presidency of Dương Hiếu Nghĩa, Ký was reinstated and nominated as the new Minister of Foreign Affairs because of his previous effort to strengthen unity within the Sphere in the struggle against communism. Being highly admired by his passion, Ký utilizes this reputation to call for national unity, reforms in economy, politics, culture and education.

Before coming to power, Boret was commonly considered as an idealistic and buoyant politician. He even became popular for his illustrious poems about romance, which were widely disseminated through newspapers. During his time as Sihanouk’s economic advisor, Boret strongly disapproved of the nationalization of banks and was a staunch critic of authoritarianism. He was demoted due to this reason. However, the late 1960s marked his return. In 1967, the nationalist Khmer Serei ousted the government, and following the restoration of democracy, Boret became the Minister of Information. Having witnessed the strife and depression caused by the second military coup and the Great Asian War - Boret became more connected to reality. Under the domestic and foreign communist threat, the democratic system of the Khmer Republic must learn to adapt, grow and deepen its roots inside the nation. Now, as the Prime Minister, Boret sets his heart on creating an efficient democracy, enacting minimal reforms to stabilize the country and consolidate the country’s position in the Sphere.

In-Game Biography Click to Show So Satto was born in Ang Tasom, 1933. He spent 21 years of his life dedicated to his career in the Royal Air Force, from 1954 to 1967. Satto continued serving in the air force following the Khmer Serei coup as the new government believed he would be the key to the success of the Khmer aviation efforts. Satto indeed, didn’t fall short of the expectations. His remarkable feats helped him to get the promotion to Brigadier General in 1972. During the Great Asian War, he and his aviation forces were in charge of combatting the communist uprising from the air. As the leader of the Air Tactical Group, he immensely contributed to the destruction of the rebels’ vital bases of operation which forced them to completely go into hiding. In the 1980s, he was completely in charge of the national air forces, and in 1990, he was chosen to be the new Minister of Defence - due to the shortage of experienced officers at that time. Lim was also well-known for his prestigious research about the cure for diabetes. Now being the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Lim wants to do more for his country. Lim still considers Japan as a close friend, but he doesn’t necessarily value Pan-Asian ideals and is always ready to hold talks with the United States of America or even the Republic of China - in exchange for some economic benefits. In-Game Biography Click to Show Australia is diseased. Putrescent to the palpitating, rotting core. Its institutions - keeping its satrapies flush with millions of taxpayer dollars - only serve to perpetuate this shambling husk of a nation. Australia is built off the tears and blood of a class assailed. Not just by the traitorous Communists and their fellow travellers in the Australian Labor Party - who would have our great people subjugated to a dying, decrepit ideology spouted by half-frozen Russian fanatics and yellow-bellied peaceniks but from above. Yes, above. The Canberra Elites, with their imported cigars and decadent orgies of backroom scheming and chardonnay, laugh from their ivory towers. They cackle as their puppets play politics while they continue to put their diamond-encrusted boot on the hard-working taxpayer. What has this land become?
No more. No more cries Joh. Like the tatters of the Constitution that line Joh's feet, these twin snakes will be strangled with the full might of the Executive Branch. Critics whine about the 'brazen' disregard for democracy by destroying that Constitution, live on air. Good, says Joh. Good that the ultimate symbol of elitism and champagne-soaked 'intellectualism' reels in agony. Good that the mainstream media, with their pockets lined with blood money, detests him so. Good that nobody will be able to stop him now.
Even now, a transformation is occurring in Australia. Those who refuse to cooperate with Joh's new order, will be crushed underneath his boot. Police, armed to the teeth with lethal firepower, storm the offices of unruly journalists. In candlelight, Country Party enforcers redraw the lines of districts into grotesque salients and blotches, making sure that Australian Democracy only has one master. Corruption is a dirty word in Politics, but in Joh's Australia, it will be a curse that is uttered often and soon.
Storm clouds have broken over Australia. Whatever emerges into the sunlight will be truly unrecognisable.
