Broken Base in Disventure Camp.

It's virtually impossible to list tropes for Broken Base in Disventure Camp without spoiling everything or creating Self-Fulfilling Spoilers due to constant mention of Player Elimination, contestants' performance or Face–Heel Turn.

Season 1

  • Did Nick's Adaptational Jerkass personality in the remastered version of Season 1 do more good for his character, as it fleshed out his personality more in a fitting way for a Rich Bastard stereotype, allowing him to be a love to hate character for some and making him better utilized as a character than his original largely Out of Focus counterpart? Or did the drastic change in personality do more harm than good for him, portraying him as an outright Hate Sink? Furthermore, regardless of one's opinion, there's also the fact that Nick was only really portrayed as a Hate Sink in Episode 4 whereas earlier episodes still gave him more sympathetic depths. If his personality was changed so much, should it have been done from the start so that it doesn't come out of nowhere and remains consistent? Or was it better that we were still able to sympathize with him for the first three episodes before he became a Hate Sink?
  • Who's more in the wrong regarding the Jake and Ellie debacle in Season 1? One side claims it's Ellie, since she effectively threw away the bond she was developing with Jake all just to keep herself in the game, which resulted in her trusting a pair of well known traitors who had betrayed her before. Another side claims that it's Jake, because despite having a greater bond with Tom than he has with Ellie, he still chose to trust a woman he was just starting to get to know compared to the guy he had feelings for, with his nasty attitude to Tom afterwards and the fact he never doubted Ellie's words doing more to damage his perspective.

Season 2

  • Was Tess's decision to keep quiet about the trio of Lake, Rosa Maria, and Riya teaming up with James and Aiden to vote off either her or Ally a correct one? On one hand, the Love Triangle trio had disadvantage in numbers with the other 5 contestants teaming up against them. At least they didn't have to lose dignity begging anyone to join their side and didn't make deals with potentially drastic consequences with anyone. Furthermore, some claim doing any of that would've failed since Aiden prefers to side with Lake's trio and James followed suit. Avoiding doing so also allowed Tess, a girl who suffers from depression, to spend her last moments on the show happily with her friends instead of stressing over strategizing and being in the game. On the other hand, some could argue that even if Tess was fine with leaving the show with a smile, it was a selfish decision as it further worsened Ally and Hunter's chances to stay in the game. Some could also say that while convincing the girls' trio and Aiden to vote for anyone else would've been impossible, they still had the option to try to convince James (who likely didn't stick with his alliance anyway and voted for Ally instead of Tess) to vote with them for either Riya or Rosa Maria (as James likely wouldn't have wanted to vote for Lake to avoid angering Aiden), thus causing a tie. While it still doesn't guarantee the Love Triangle trio staying in the game (especially if they chose to vote for Rosa Maria since, as the following episode reveals, she already had immunity totem by this point), it would've at least given them a 50-50 chance during a tie-breaker for things to turn out positively for them, which some could argue would've still been better than accepting the outcome and doing nothing.
  • Hunter's post-merge streak of winning immunity in the most contrived ways (first time because Lake's ring happens to quickly fall off so her victory isn't counted, second time because Nina tells Karol to share her immunity with Ally and Hunter for more drama, and the third time solely for being the only person to cross the finish line despite losing his partner along the way and accidentally having his blindfold taken off). There's one side of his fans who'll be relieved that he's safe for another episode, especially since the Love Triangle trio is constantly targeted for elimination post-merge. However, others may easily find it annoying and compare it to equally contrived winning streak of Zoey in Total Drama All-Stars. There's also the third camp of Hunter's fans who, while relieved that their favorite is safe, will admit that he keeps winning for the dumbest reasons and may be disappointed since that is bound to cause some fans to hate their favorite character for reasons outside of his control. On the other hand, while him winning immunity for the 4th time in a row in Episode 10 can be equally annoying to some, it's generally agreed that this was the one time he at least genuinely earned his victory.
  • Riya's Face–Heel Turn. Is it a great change to her character which finally gives her more plot relevance with an interesting arc which suits her character, and was it properly foreshadowed throughout the season? In other words, was she an actually well-written Scarlett from Pahkitew Island? Or was she perfectly fine being a nice girl with I Just Want to Have Friends plot, meaning the change perhaps even ruined her character, and was this change in personality too subtely foreshadowed, to the point it feels out of nowhere and out of character? Furthermore, which version of post-Face–Heel Turn Riya is better? The one from Episode 8 where she feels remorse for choosing strategy over friendship after not warning Rosa to use her immunity totem on Lake and where she does so fueled by her paranoia of being left alone since Rosa only now revealing to her friends that she had found the totem means that she probably likes Lake more than her? Or the one from Episode 10 onwards where she's portrayed as a sneaky Jerkass?
