OPs and EDs
- The OP "Rage On" and ED "Splash Free" are magnificent. Splash Free" received a short orchestration by chongthenomad that turns the fun, catchy song epic.
- The season one finale's EVER BLUE is a serene ode to friendship.
- Future Fish is ten kinds of catchy.
- Akin to EVER BLUE, the Eternal Summer finale brought us Clear Blue Departure, which is all about cherishing the time spent with your friends and always remaining connected to them - perfect for an ED sequence involving most of the main characters graduating from high school.
- After a two-year hiatus, the Timeless Medley duology brings us Rising Free. Style Five is BACK.
- Take Your Marks gives us the excited Free-Style Spirit.
- Blue Destination, the finale song of Dive to the Future, is utterly soaring.
- Gold Evolution, the season 3 ED, is epic. Especially with the characters performing on stage all suited up.
- Brave Dream, the ending song to the Road to the World: The Dream recap movie, goes in a new dubstep direction like the rest of the third season's soundtrack and features a Call-Back to the chorus of "Splash Free".
Image Songs
- Over The Dream is Rin's "I Am" Song, and the chorus could be in a shonen anime theme song. Gratefully, by contrast, is a sweet thanks to his teammates for being True Companions.
- Rin and Haru's duet REAL WAVE is catchy and pumped-up regardless of how you want to interpret it.
- Summer End’s Evening Twilight, a very romantic and just plain adorable Rei/Nagisa duet.
- Rei's Coming Soooon!! is hilarious yet catchy.
- Asu e no Last Race, one of Sousuke's only two character songs and probably the saddest of any Free! songs. If Yoshimasa Hosoya's beautiful vocals don’t make you cry, the lyrics (in the comment by JoJiJoJo) will. His other, "Just Wanna Know" is less dramatic but just as much of a Tear Jerker. In both, his voice breaks at the final pre-chorus.
- NEO BLUE BREATHING, featuring Makoto, Haruka, and Rin, is badass yet emotionally cathartic.
Soundtrack
- From Rin's first appearance in ISC (season 1), we have the badass "Bring On Fuzz" by Reinhold Hoffmann. Early on in ES, it was heard again... this time for one of Sousuke's scenes. For the ES addition it seems to have been renamed "Aggressive Groove".
- Melody of Ever Blue from the climactic race of Iwatobi Swim Club is an upbeat, hopeful, instrumental arrangement of the aforementioned EVER BLUE.
- Beginning Beat from Eternal Summer is a good track to listen to for getting pumped.
- From the Dive to the Future OST, "Rhythm of New Sensation", an upbeat electronic remix of the relaxed soundtrack staple "Rhythm of Port Town".
