Laura

She kills the first werewolf, Kaylee. This not only always happens, but Laura, as far as the story goes, has no training and is running solely on determination to save her boyfriend.
Laura is able to take down most of the Hackett clan by herself; she sneaks up on Kaylee in werewolf form and shots her with a silver bullet, she can blow half of Constance's head off while they are fighting for her shotgun, snap Jed's neck with her bare hands after fighting off his attempts to stab her, after he has already shot her at least once, and with Travis, she can either decapitate him as a werewolf (while he is stabbing her with a silver mirror shard) or blow him away if she hesitates in killing Silas after he spitefully states that he "should have killed you when I had the chance."
After Max, as a werewolf, shreds her face, taking out an eye in the process, Laura is able to suture and bandage the wound despite being in a great deal of pain and bleeding heavily, with no training and only from what she gleaned from textbooks.
Chasing off Bobby before he can finish Ryan off, just by being damn scary. This is a guy who will fight his fully transformed brother in hand-to-hand combat.
If Silas is able to crash the car killing Travis and Ryan in the process, Laura will manage to crawl from the wreckage and can deliver a final shot to Silas to kill him before she dies of her own wounds.

Abigail

A werewolf infected and super-strong Nick won't let go of Abigail. She manages to shove him in the pool.
She escapes from werewolf Caleb, potentially by climbing a tree.
Despite having no training, Abigail wields a shotgun and can protect herself from Nick after he just tossed her like a ragdoll.
She'll also swoop in at the last second to pass Kaitlyn a silver bullet allowing her to kill Caleb.

Kaitlyn

Kaitlyn is a crack shot with a shotgun and shoots four targets in a row without breaking a sweat.
Considering she's alive by that point, Chapter 10 is the time where Kaitlyn truly establishes her Action Girl cred. While several other characters can be there at the lodge at the same time if survived up to that point, the player is in control of Kaitlyn for the duration of what is essentially the climactic encounter of the game. She can survive a dangerous game of cat and mouse with the werewolf running throughout the lodge. Depending on player choice she can either shoot werewolf Caleb dead with silver shells or use a decoy to lure him into the freezer with no way out. Note that she can accomplish the latter even if she's all alone. There's a reason why Kaitlyn has an achievement for being the Final Girl.
Her Final Girl stripes can also be clearly seen if she's left alone in the scrapyard in Chapter 9. In a perfect playthrough she will shoot Silas before toppling a container on top of him.

Nick

Nick does show himself to be very capable with a shotgun; unfortunately circumstances mean he never gets to use one to help the group.

Emma

Emma can evade a werewolf Max without taking a single bite. During the chase she will fight off the werewolf head on by using a taser and bear mace. Even while being bitten she'll tase the werewolf to get it off her.
In Chapter 6, during Jacob's playable segment, should he miss the first quick time event, the werewolf will tackle and infect him. Emma will then (without player input) channel her inner Leonidas/Kassandra/Alexios and Sparta kick the werewolf off of the bridge, saving Jacob's life in the process. She then immediately does the smart thing and jumps into a river to escape.
Later on she can potentially throw a firework onto either the hunters or werewolf Caleb to enable her escape to safety.
If Jacob is infected but has the silver bracelet she dropped earlier, when he transforms he'll take it off as it starts to burn him, she'll take the opportunity to fend him off with it.

Ryan

Ryan manages to escape from Bobby Hackett while bleeding out and can even turn Bobby's knife back on him.
He is also the only one who can cure Laura, Max, and potentially himself and Emma by killing Chris.
If Travis kills Laura, the Aggressive dialogue option gives Ryan an excellent threat that can potentially precede him blowing Travis' head clean off.
"Okay. Bring it on motherfucker. You crooked ass cop piece of shit. I'm not scared of you! Come on!"

Dylan

By making the correct choices Dylan is able to not only save Kaitlyn from certain doom in the scrapyard by properly operating a crane and dropping a car onto an attacking werewolf, he will also successfully defend himself despite being in a compromising position with a blowtorch. Doubly awesome if he is a Handicapped Badass from amputating his hand in an earlier chapter as it doesn't slow him down a bit with his improvised tactics.
Dylan is also out in the open without any weapon to defend himself in the lodge confrontation with Caleb and will manage to survive provided Kaitlyn is able to deal with Caleb.
Unlike most infected characters who turn on their friends before their transformation, Dylan instead fights back against the curse and pleads with Kaitlyn to run to save herself.

Jacob

Jacob can get caught in a beartrap but can focus enough to force it open and escape on a badly injured leg. And if he's not infected, he can't heal it.
In Chapter 10, if Chris is still alive, he hunts Jacob in the woods. Jacob can trick Chris into getting caught in a snare trap. And he comes up with this plan on the fly while being chased by Chris.

Travis

Despite being badly injured and staring down the jaws of a werewolf Laura, he has enough sense to recognize the mirror he was smashed into is backed with silver and can finish her despite his injuries^note.
He makes the confrontation with Silas easier by running over the werewolf after he had nearly been decapitated by him.

Chris

Bobby

The fact that Bobby can fight his fully transformed brother Chris with his bare hands and live to tell the tale.
