Awesome / The Mummy (1959)

  • Kharis when he attacks. It might also double as Nightmare Fuel considering the reason for his attacks, but the way he breaks through the windows, breaks down doors, is unaffected by gunshots, receiving a harpoon through the side, and plows through the scenes like a beast are a sight to behold.
  • The fight between Kharis and John Banning. The suspense and tension build up as Kharis approaches the Banning mansion as John paces around with a limp, waiting. The action officially starts as John Banning catches sight of the mummy's shadow appearing just outside the curtain concealed glass doors before Kharis smashes the glass doors and lumbers menacingly towards him as he drops his cigarette case to grab his elephant gun, emptying two rounds into him in the process. The shots only stop Kharis for less than a second before he advances on John once again, causing the latter to drop his now empty gun and leap over the table just in time to evade being grabbed. Despite his bummed leg, John manages to grab a spear from above the bookshelf, and impale Kharis, to no effect. All seems lost as Kharis grabs him by the throat and proceeds to strangle him as he struggles, however, Isobel, hearing the commotion, enters the study despite her husband's earlier warning to stay away. Upon seeing her husband being strangled, she cries out, the sound catching Kharis's attention, and when he sees her, the look in his eye's changes from ice cold rage to surprise and recognition, causing him to release his prey, and approach Isobel as she backs away in fright. Kharis reaches for her as if to prove to himself that he isn't dreaming, but when he realizes that she is real, he turns and walks away, his stride more human, and less zombie like than before.
  • Kharis attacking John a second time with Mehmet Bey in tow. This time, John doesn't manage to fire any shots at Kharis since the latter manages to grab the barrel of his gun, causing the shots to fire upwards. Isobel rushes in again, and lets her hair down so her resemblance to Ananka is more pronounced, causing Kharis to release John, and stare at her.
  • Kharis turning on Mehemet Bay when he foolishly orders the mummy to kill Isobel. At first Kharis only stares sadly at Isobel, since she reminds him of his lost love Princess Ananka. But once Mehemet tries to do the deed himself, Kharis quickly steps in, breaks his neck, and kills him. The sight causes Isobel to faint, and Kharis scoops her up in his arms as she does so, proceeding to leave the house with her.
