If you actually manage to do this, give yourself a pat on the back.

As hilarious as Tales of the Drunken Paladin often is, it's also got more than it's fair share of badassery to compliment the humor. Suffice to say, if you're not laughing your ass off while playing, you're probably cheering at the screen or staring in awe at what you just witnessed.

Moment Subpages are Spoilers Off. You Have Been Warned.

General Moments

  • Everything Dave says and does is pure awesome. EVERYTHING. Especially him threatening Greg with death if the latter even thinks about harming his friends.
Dave: "I will be watching you very closely, imp. If you do anything to harm my dear companions, you will not live to see your revolution."
Greg: "Duly noted... But I grow weary of you humans tossing around idle threats. I am beginning to think—"
[Dave's visage grows black as he whips out a cutlass and cuts Greg wide open]
    Greg: "Aahh!"
Dave: "I do not make idle threats. As I said before, the next one is your heart."
  • Anebriate, as you'll find out the more you play the game, has a surprising knack for intimidation and boasting. More often than not, he's able to back it up, as well.
    • Pretty much whenever he boasts about all the things he's killed after a while into the game, since there's more than enough truth to what he's saying. Even those who question his intelligence (Deemer, Greg and others) do not doubt his combat skills whatsoever.
    • Anebriate's accolades in of themselves become more and more well known throughout the game, to the point where even the narrator points out how many times he's saved the world by the start of the final arc of the game.
    • His intimidating of Mindy, a notorious Hobotropolis con artist/burglar, into compliance takes the cake, though; especially since she tried to weasel her way out of a deal she made with Anebriate just prior (for context: she agreed to accompany Anebriate and his group of professionals on a heist that takes place during the endgame, in exchange for Anebriate himself killing a box demon in her box stash).
Anebriate: "That sucked a thousand balls, so I hope you're ready to get your ass over to the joint."
Mindy: "Mmm... I've changed my mind. Thanks for the help, though!"
Anebriate: "WHAT?! We had a fucking deal!"
Mindy: "Perhaps you had it fixed in mind that we had a deal, but I make no promises. I am The Liar, and you are just another fool to help line my pockets."
Anebriate: [beat] "I may be a fool... BUT I CAN STILL RIP YOUR ASS IN HALF."
      Mindy: "Wait, what?!"
Anebriate: "You think you can just fuck with us and get away with it? I don't know how things usually work around here, but there is NO way you're walking away from this with both your legs."
      Mindy: "Holy shit, mister, wait!"
Anebriate: "Anebriate: Wait for what? You to lie to me again? I don't think so; it's time you reap what you have sown."
  • Practically anytime the player manages to take out an Optional Boss is an achievement in of itself. ESPECIALLY if it's a post-story Optional Boss.

Original Story Arc

Big Trouble in Little China, Maine

  • Deemer shutting down Anebriate and Palmer's petty argument right when they reach Augusta during the China arc is pretty satisfying to watch, especially since the former had largely sit back and allowed them to bicker up to that point.
  • Anebriate and the crew standing up to Theodore and beating him in battle at the end of the China arc. It's both a challenging fight, and a tremendous bit of karmic retribution, given the latter's lengthy and extensive manipulations over the past several months in-game. Even the fact that Theo's own death played into his plans doesn't take away the feeling of catharsis the player is likely to have for beating the smug out of him.

Hobotropolis

  • Despite never returning to his prime, Anebriate manages to attack and dethrone the Save God with the help of his friends. In a way, he managed to surpass his past self.
  • It takes a while, but Gorbochov does eventually reach feature parity with the Save Hobos, which ensures that the save mechanic stays alive even as the Save Realm struggles to regain order.
