Standing up to the resident yandere while suffering from such anxiety certainly takes guts.

Being a Slice of Life manga/anime, it should come as no surprise that Komi Can't Communicate still has its moments where you'll be standing up and clap out of how awesome some scenes are.

As per policy, moments subpages have all spoilers unmarked. You Have Been Warned.

  • After accidentally spooking Komi and causing her to run away in panic after accidentally hearing her mope to herself about her being unable to talk to the class, Tadano does an epic side slide and manages to stop her by simply asking if she's bad with talking to people. After that, he manages to hold an entire conversation with her through writing extensively on a blackboard. In the anime's Japanese version, said conversation is done with no dialogue, letting the music and visuals tell the story.
  • Komi delivers a clarification towards Yamai — a Yandere who is threatening both Komi and her friends with a knife — that she will choose her friends for herself after revelations that Yamai has kidnapped Tadano; this leaves Yamai frozen like a statue as Komi and Tadano leave her apartment before the girl slowly falls to the ground crying as she realizes just how badly she screwed up everything. The next day, Tadano echoes Komi's line when she is having doubts about whether she should still be friends with Tadano after what has happened to him.
  • In a snowball fight against the neighborhood children, Komi has to take the side of the children because they'd be uneven otherwise. The team of Agari, Tadano, Yamai and Yadano make quick casualties out of the kids, leaving Komi on her own. Tadano gets taken out and Komi approaches the fort of the high schoolers, leaving Yamai unwilling to attack her. Yamai treacherously turns on Yadano and Agari, taking them down with snowballs, and starts groveling to Komi, who mercilessly, and without a word takes her down. The mercilessness of the action against the treacherous Yamai gives Komi fame among the neighborhood kids, who dub her "Sile-kill-nee-chan".
  • Chapter 91: Komi and her cousin Akira are playing Hanafuda against their grandmother. Akira loses badly, leaving Komi - who had never played before - to pick up after her. Without even trying, Komi assembles a Five Brights handnote , winning all of Akira's holiday money back in one go.
  • After a failed attempt to come up with a good scenario if one of the Normies was dating Komi, their second attempt has the best they could do was to put everyone in a period drama setting, where Shinobino, Chiarai and Komi are underground revolutionaries against the Shogunate, only for the authorities to kick the door down on their hideout. Komi then throws a pinwheel at one of the samurai, unsheathes a dagger and is prepared to hold a You Shall Not Pass! while the others escape.
Komi: I'm your opponent. A lot of heads...will be sent flying.
  • Komi has a new umbrella and takes it out during the rainy season. Komi stumbles upon Tadano, who remarks on her new umbrella. Excited, Komi takes a few steps forward and makes a graceful twirl to show it off, which leaves Tadano floored by the sheer beauty of the scene. Realizing what she'd done, Komi leaves running embarrassed, leaving Tadano astonished and agape.
  • Manbagi is at an emotional nadir and breaks down crying in class out of loneliness, as she's had no opportunities to make any friends during the second year and her cakey makeup is keeping every classmate at bay. Tadano and Komi take her to the infirmary, but she throws up mid-way, leaving Tadano to clean it up. Komi brings her to the infirmary alone and hears the broken Manbagi tearfully and painfully lamenting her loneliness, so she makes the best gesture she can fathom: she asks Manbagi to be her first friend of the second year. Astonished and touched, especially due to the fact that she thought that Komi was unreachable to someone like her, Manbagi immediately regains her composure and accepts, ending up becoming Komi's best friend henceforth, second to almost no one else.
  • Komi's Father deserves a mention; in his youth, he manages to appeal to Shuuko out of sheer quirkiness - playing with origami figures on his desk - and utter kindness - taking the time to build an abandoned cat a house, and tenderly bandaging Shuuko's finger after she cuts herself in Home Ec; before they started dating, he organized Japan's first flash mob with dancing and music, all to present her with a rose. In the present, he manages to fluster his wife by delicately telling her that her food is delicious as always, and impresses Komi, Tadano, and Hitomi with a flourish of his bank card while in a Godfather-style getup; the narration even implies he has The Godfather's theme following him as a leitmotif.
  • Chapter 223: During the school play, Komi actually confesses to Tadano in front of everyone.
Komi (to Tadano): I think... I love you.
  • Chapter 228: Komi raises her voice (Komi of all people) and tells Manbagi that she would not allow her to give up her feeling for Tadano out of her consideration for Komi. While Komi does not like the idea of another girl around Tadano liking him romantically, she values her friendship with Manbagi more.
Manbagi: Why?! Wouldn't you hate having someone else around who likes Tadano?! Wouldn't you be jealous?!
Komi: I would hate it! And I would be jealous! But I would hate seeing you sad even more.
  • Chapter 256 is a big one for Tadano: The students in his class are forced to attend career counseling meetings with their parents, and Tadano (as class representative) has to be present for all of them to give his input. Tadano, who has a near superhuman ability to notice things about people, proceeds to give thorough and thoughtful positive opinions for each and every one of his classmates. The penultimate page of the chapter features an image of the entire class blushing and awed at Tadano's kind words.
  • Chapter 302: Tadano pretty much smashed the basic Harem Protagonist genre by confessing to Komi. Props to the author because her reaction spanned five pages of her processing the fact that the boy she loves just confessed to her, on Valentine's.
    • Tadano is confronted by Yamai Ren about him and Komi going out, to which he replies Blunt "Yes" without hesitation. When Yamai tries to kill him, Komi steps out in between. Doubles as Funny because Tadano and Komi are such sweethearts they start alternating between whom should protect whom.
  • Chapter 383: Komi finds herself in a serious funk after talking to Kawai, unable to approach Tadano or any of her other friends about it, so Shiina steps up as a "not-really-a-friend." In the course of this conversation, and her next one with Kawai, Komi does something she hasn't done in the entire series to this point - she raises her voice, an act that so surprises her that her next panel each time is stunned silence. Kawai's reaction? ALSO stunned silence!
