Awesome / Binging with Babish

Binging with Babish is a show dedicated to recreating food dishes from film and television, many of which were never even intended to be possible to make for real. Any time Andrew manages to use his cooking skills to replicate something that should (by all rights) be impossible to replicate, it's truly an awesome sight to behold—especially when he takes a gag recipe that was supposed to be disgusting and manages to make it delicious.

  • Jake's Perfect Sandwich from Adventure Time contains the soul of a recently deceased lobster. Andrew gets the recipe as close as possible to the source material by using lobster aioli. He even includes his own tears for added saltiness, just like in the show.
  • Bachelor Chow from Futurama was originally a one-off gag with no clues about its ingredients: it's just non-perishable dry food for unmarried men who can't cook, which is sold in bulk and comes in a giant bag like dog chow. Andrew manages to make a real version by making freeze-dried boeuf bourguignon.
  • Moon Waffles from The Simpsons were originally just waffles with melted caramels and liquid smoke, wrapped around an entire stick of butter, which (as Andrew attests) is absolutely disgusting when made accurately to the show. Andrew successfully turns it into a gourmet breakfast dish by making homemade waffles with brown butter, caramel drizzle, and smoky sea salt. Even he's shocked by how delicious it turns out.
  • He successfully replicates the Tortilla Chip Sombrero from Despicable Me 2—and makes it big enough to fit on his own head, just like in the movie. He even manages to successfully deep-fry the thing (or as close as he can reasonably get) by carefully spooning hot oil over it until it's crispy.
  • In one of the most audacious Self Imposed Challenges on the show, he successfully makes a "gourmet version" of the instant macaroni & cheese that Cliff Booth eats in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood: homemade fresh macaroni with a cheese powder made from a blend of real dehydrated cheese (made with a dehydrator that he bought specially for the episode). Even better: since Cliff eats his instant mac & cheese without milk or butter, Andrew includes butter powder and milk powder in his homemade cheese blend—allowing him to keep it as accurate to the movie as possible while still being "gourmet".
  • For his 2019 April Fool's Day joke, Andrew recreates the "Jelly Donuts" from the infamous Pokémon: The Series episode where the English dub referred to onigiri as jelly donuts. Against all odds, he successfully manages to make jelly donuts that look almost exactly like onigiri — using a coconut flake coating to simulate rice, and green marzipan to simulate seaweed. The end result is both hilarious and awesome.
  • "Cheeto Root Beer Pasta" from The Simpsons is one of the most impressive "gourmet upgrades" in the history of the show. The original version of the recipe (pasta boiled in root beer, with Cheetos and hot dogs) is so disgusting that Andrew can barely take a bite without retching. The gourmet version features short ribs braised in a mixture of root beer and chicken stock, with homemade cheese-flavored pasta—complete with masa and cheddar powder mixed into the pasta dough to approximate the taste of Cheetos. He describes the final version as "addicting". It even ends up in the Clean Plate Club!
