  • Julian should go to work for Sherlock Holmes; the guy's able to determine that the letter Preminger "found" is a fake by its scent: Anneliese always used rose-scented paper, not lilac. He's also able to deduce that Preminger had been to a specific forest recently by simply examining a twig that'd fallen off his shoe.
  • Erika manages to engineer her own escape after being thrown in the dungeon for masquerading as Anneliese. This is followed by Dominick of all people showing up to rescue her in disguise when she can't get away from the guard after her.
  • After the events of the movie, the castle quits buying dresses from Madame Carp, presumably because of how Erika was treated there. So what happens? The old hag goes out of business. Ah, sweet karma.
  • Serafina, despite living a very pampered existence up to the point of Anneliese's kidnapping, convinces Hervé to boost her all the way up to the roof and then jumps down a dark, dirty chimney in order to reunite with her mistress with minimal hesitation.
Serafina: A girl's got to do what a girl's got to do!
  • After being kidnapped, Anneliese not only escapes on her own (using a Bedsheet Ghost, no less), but when she's locked in Madame Carp's dress shop, she's smart enough to send Serafina for help with her ring to prove her identity and a dress label to let whoever Serafina finds know where she is. She just didn't count on her kidnapper finding Serafina first.
    • Also, despite knowing almost nothing about dressmaking and never having done that kind of menial labor in her life, Anneliese knuckles down to help Madame Carp's seamstress with her work, simply because it's the right thing to do.
  • Preminger gets a villainous one for managing to hide his involvement in Anneliese's kidnapping until the very end of the film and continually adjusting his plans on the fly so that he nearly comes out on top even after his original scheme goes up in smoke.
  • Anneliese crashing Preminger's wedding to reveal his scheme.
    Anneliese: Stop the wedding, Mother!
    Queen Genevieve: (shocked) Anneliese?
Preminger: (shaken) B-but she's dead, your highness. The imposter must have escaped!
Anneliese: No, Preminger! (She rolls down her sleeve to reveal her birthmark)
  • When Preminger tries to escape after his plot is exposed, both Julian and Dominick immediately give chase, with both men jumping on their respective horses and running the treacherous advisor down.
    • And finally, Hervé at the climax—when Preminger starts whipping him while trying to escape his pursuers, Hervé decides that enough is enough. So he stops, tears Preminger's riding crop out of his hand, turns around, runs back to the palace, and bucks him facefirst into the wedding cake.
Seraphina: I like your style, Hervé.
    Hervé: So do I!
