Awesome / A Devil Amongst Worms

Go To

While it definitely leans more towards horror, A Devil Amongst Worms is still a Chainsaw Man and Worm crossover, so there's definitely going to be some awesome moments to be had.

As a Moments subpage, all spoilers are unmarked as per policy. You Have Been Warned.

  • How Makima opens things up: Leviathan's just launched a gargantuan mega-tsunami that's pretty much guaranteed to completely demolish the defenders before the fight even starts. But right before it hits, she completely blows through it with a single shot, saving everyone in the area.
    Makima: Bang.
  • While it definitely falls under Nightmare Fuel, seeing Leviathan going all out is pretty damn cool in its own way. Those familiar with Worm's setting will remember that the Endbringers were stated to never really put more than a token effort in their attacks and that if they did, they'd be completely unstoppable. Well, here we get to see what happens when they decide to roll up their sleeves and get serious.
    • For starters, instead of going with a dramatic pre-battle stare-off as he does in canon, here he opens things up with a gargantuan mega-tsunami that would've completely flattened the defenders before the battle even really started had it not been for Makima.
    • Perhaps more impressively, is the sheer level of tactical prowess he displays. After Makima blows apart one of his waves, he proceeds to detonate it into a liquid smokescreen to cover his movements. It's so effective that he's nearly able to catch Makima by surprise despite her Super-Senses and the fact that he's a giant monster the size of a building.
    • Furthermore, instead of rushing in headlong, he instead spends the first few moments of their fight using probing attacks to gauge her abilities, in a similar manner to a Devil Hunter. Also serves as one for Makima by proxy, showcasing just how much of a potential threat she poses for an Endbringer to be genuinely cautious around her.
  • Makima's one-sided "fight" with Lung is also this. The Devil utterly dominates the otherwise near-unstoppable cape. The first time, he ramps up to the same level at which he can take on the entirety of the Protectorate at once, only to get utterly pulped by a single palm blast from Makima. Then, he swells to a level of power eclipsing even what he had in Kyushu when he fought Leviathan (which is over 50 ft. tall), only to get utterly destroyed again, this time being reduced to a bodiless head. The fight proves to be a Curb-Stomp Battle in the Control Devil's favor.
    • Lung gets a second Trigger Event and becomes much stronger. This is something Makima takes advantage of after she masters him to help defeat Leviathan and now plans to create her own Parahuman army.
  • Makima pulls a Villainous Rescue on the people at the shelter, to the Wards and the Undersiders she just pulled a Big Damn Heroes for them. She also offers ideas on how to help them.
  • The fight ends with Makima defeating the Endbringer. How does she win? She actually manages to take Leviathan out of Earth's atmosphere and blast him into Mercury with her finger gun, causing the planet to be blown to pieces! He won't be coming back to Earth anytime soon.
  • In less than a day on Earth-Bet, Makima has become one the most beloved heroes in the world thanks to taking out an Endbringer and many across the world know her name and face. She's already set up shop with her own Public Safety Bureau here, outshining the local heroes.
  • The Brockton Bay PRT's new director, James Tagg, of all people, is able to figure out that Makima is not as benevolent and heroic as she makes herself out to be and can Master other people into doing her bidding. He goes as far as to make himself as bait to try get her to reveal her true colors. This earns some genuine Villain Respect from the Control Devil.
  • Later it appears the Control Devil has enough contracts in Brockton Bay to regain her semi-immortality back like she had back in her own world.
  • An assassin sent to kill Makima, while doing serious damage to her but ultimately failing, manages to kill Oni Lee in a car crash before dying to the Control Devil's hands.
