"Don’t worry! I’ll make sure to protect Conan-kun. Not to mention, there’s no bullet that can shoot through Conan-kun’s heart right now. Or your heart either, of course!"
Masumi Sera

Dimensional Sniper provides examples of:

  • Actionized Sequel: Compared to its predecessor Detective Conan Film 17: Private Eye In The Distant Sea, this film is much more action-packed from beginning to end.
  • And This Is for...: As Ran beats Kevin Yoshino in the film’s climax, she names his innocent victims in a rage.
Ran: This is for Sonoko! And Ayumi-chan! And Sera-san!
  • Big Bad: While the entire serial killing is a plot by Timothy Hunter, the elusive sniper directly responsible for the murders is revealed to be Kevin Yoshino, his friend on a warpath of revenge.
  • Badass Biker: Masumi Sera makes her movie debut and shows off her biking skills.
  • Chekhov's Gun: As usual, numerous but the biggest one is Agasa’s variation on his Anywhere Ball Dispensing Belt which lights a firework that allows “Subaru Okiya” and Ran to see Yoshino in the blackout he created.
  • Dragon Their Feet: Kevin Yoshino is The Dragon for Timothy Hunter, and after Hunter is killed as the third victim in their plan together Yoshino carries on the rest of it on his own.
  • Foreshadowing: Ran, disgusted with the culprit’s actions swears she will never forgive them. In the finale, it is her who pummels Yoshino.
  • Greater-Scope Villain: Jack Waltz's criminal activities form the motivations behind Hunter and Yoshino's actions in the film.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: Jealous of Timothy Hunter’s better military performance, Jack Waltz set Hunter up so the silver star he earned would be revoked. He even ordered Murphy to assassinate Hunter, but the bullet failed to kill him, although a fragment of it remained in Hunter's skull and damaged his optical nerves, severely impairing Timothy.
  • Heroic Second Wind: After slipping to the ground, Ran gets up and really lets Yoshino have it.
  • Improbable Aiming Skills: With a title like that, this trope feels almost necessary and Yoshino and “Subaru Okiya” do not disappoint.
  • Negated Moment of Awesome: Ran charges at Yoshino but tumbles and falls, though it's promptly subverted when Ran gets back up and beats Yoshino into submission.
  • Red Herring: Timothy Hunter is blatantly sent up as the culprit behind the murders, but he is eventually killed by the real culprit in a sniper duel. Though this is subverted - Hunter is the mastermind behind the plot, and has the real culprit kill him, both as part of the culprit's training and to throw the investigation into chaos.
  • Taking the Bullet: Sera takes a bullet from Conan. She survives but is hospitalized, undergoes surgery and remains bed-ridden for the rest of the movie.
  • The Reveal: Quite notably, the film reveals that "Subaru Okiya" is actually a disguised Shuichi Akai, somehow having survived his encounter with Rena Mizunashi before this was revealed in the manga proper.
