Thresher gets angry, and tells Jane that all 200+ of the applicants are desperate, and that he doesn't buy or care for her melodrama. He complains about how the applicants are "acting," pretending that they don't know where their next meal s are coming from, and he considers all of them part of the mass of unemployment. He's disgusted with how she came in her with her "perky" face and her "bouncy" breasts, and plans to kick her "sweet little butt" out on the street. He hates how Jane turns on the waterworks to get what she wants, and he accuses her of being a Daddy's Girl who gets what she wants by crying.

As the lighting and picture quality plummet, Jane tries to politely thank Thresher, but he continues by saying that jobs are few and precious, and he hopes that she'll consider this lesson in her next job- if she ever gets one. Jane gets up to leave as he launches into a rant about employers paying for employees' insurance, and workman's comp. She closes the door, cutting him off as he's asking her who she thinks creates jobs.

Jane decides to go after the guy in the parking lot, desperate to marry him so that she won't have to work, and thinking about what kind of guy he is. Unfortunately for her, she reaches the parking lot in time for him to drive away on his motorcycle. She laments not knowing his last name and that she'll never see him again, and asks who picked the story, blaming the player for ruining her life. Meanwhile, John writes her off, saying she's "too classy" to go for a guy like him, and would choose a guy who wears a tie every day over a plumber. It's unclear what happened to change his attitude, since he, while somewhat angsty about the possibility of being rejected, was confident enough to make advances on her in the ending in which Jane was hired.

Harry comes in with a chicken mask on his head, blaming the player for choosing this, suggesting that the player's not fit to write stories for a living and has at least one failed relationship under their belt. He's just as harsh on the player as he was in the "hired" ending, but this doesn't compare to the only remaining option- which is also the only one that enables you to advance the story.
