Der Film Part 2: Pray That I Don't Alter It Any Further

Yukari says that the group begins a new semester next week, which seems to imply that it's summer- you can see Saori's radio operator license was issued in August. Most anime that are set in schools keep better track of the date, especially with various school-related milestones (exams, changing from winter to summer uniforms and back, vacations, graduation) and holidays (Christmas, New Year's and Valentine's Day) that might factor into the plot. Saori complains about not having done her homework and Mako complains about having to get up, but Hana reminds them that they fought to keep the school open, implicitly saying that they should be grateful.

The PA comes on and summons Anzu to the school, and while everyone else is concerned, Anzu seems fairly calm about it. Anglerfish Team drives its tank past a large group of trucks, and is confused as to why the school is unpacking. The group sees a fairly excessive amount of tape saying "KEEP OUT" in English on the school gates- Sodoko thinks it's vandalism, and Rabbit Team doesn't understand it. As far as I know, disregarding why the school didn't put the Japanese equivalent on it, Rabbit Team should have recognized it. The MEXT official the student council met with in Episode 9 arrives, coldly informing them that they're no longer students there, leaving Anzu to tell them the finer details. Anzu informs them that Oarai will close on August 31, because apparently, the offer to keep it open "wasn't a definite promise". Duck Team asks why they didn't wait until March (when all the third-years would be able to graduate and the others would be able to find new schools), but Anzu says that it "would be too late," with no apparent explanation. The others protest and vow to fight back, but Anzu says that if they resist, he'll fire everyone on the carrier (One would think that the ship closing down would put them all out of a job anyway). Yuzu tells all the students to return to their dorms or their homes, and get ready to move. Meanwhile, MEXT is planning to repossess the tanks, and can only offer an apology.

Night falls, and the student council takes what it can. Meanwhile, Rabbit Team deals with the rabbits despite them not being part of their jurisdiction. The volleyball team, despite knowing they'll never re-establish their club, vows to have a final match. The morals committee, desperate for a purpose now, jokingly considers taking the gate itself, and Sodoko gets hit in the head by a volleyball while Rabbit Team chases the rabbits. Leopon Team goes for a drive in the moonlight. Hippo Team makes historical references, and Anteater plays a game (which looks more like a turn-based strategy than a World of Tanks style game). Jungorou fears for the future of the family shop (not that he doesn't have good reason, mind you), but Yoshiko at least tries to put on a happy face. Speaking of family, Hana calls home to tell Shinzaburou the bad news, but is determined that her flowers will bloom anywhere. Mako and Saori pack up the bedding at Mako's house, but Mako insists on sleeping with her pillow.

Miho finishes packing up her "Bokoare-guma" stuff, and realizes that the next day, she'll be moving off the carrier. Suddenly, she runs back to school and finds the rest of the team, who knew she'd show up. Duck Team thanks their tanks. Meanwhile, the rest of Anglerfish Team looked in Miho's room first, but make their way over to the tanks. At that point, a Saunders Galaxy plane flies in (cue squeeing from Yukari), and Yuzu reveals that they'll take Oarai's tanks, since she filed a document saying they lost them. Kay then loads the tanks onto the plane and tells Miho to contact them once she knows the destination. Everyone's glad that they protected their tanks even if they couldn't protect the school.

Of course, that relief only lasts until they see the ship pull away... without them on it, resulting in an emotional goodbye. They then get on separate buses, sorted by clubs, which means that the tankery club stays together. They all end up in a temporary school, one of the few that's still on land. Momo puts on a brave face, knowing that times like this require her to be strong, and believing that the president has thought of something. As the other students settle in, Yukari takes to it well, preparing rations and impressing the others.

As Anglerfish Team tries to get adjusted to school on land, the Saunders plane returns and paradrops its tanks, insisting that Oarai repay them by continuing to practice tankery so that Saunders can fight them and win.

Anzu tasks Momo with roll call, and Momo (true to form, since she's better suited to giving orders than actually doing work), wakes up the Morals Committee, who have grown slovenly and lazy now that their school is gone. Mako, despite not liking waking up early any more, tells Sodoko to wash her face, and Sodoko doesn't even complain about her nickname as she only asks if everyone is here (although I honestly wonder whether she could count a crowd that large with any degree of reliability). By comparison, Duck Team is as enthusiastic as ever, and even Anteater Team tries to work out. Hippo Team plays wargames, and Rabbit Team seemingly tries to learn how to survive. Leopon Team drives with the tank, and Anglerfish sleeps, with the exception of Miho, who looks up at the sky.

Anglerfish Team goes for a drive in a tank, since Mako got her license on September 1. Saori compares the quality of her photo (which was taken on June 22, seemingly a Retcon), and says that while Mako's barely awake, Saori's is good enough for an arranged date. Hana, more bluntly than usual, says that Saori "work(s) hard for some pointless stuff." Yukari mentions the buses to Ibaraki (Oarai's prefecture), and casually mentions her need for her guardian's signature. Naturally, Saori has to go back to her parents, Mako has to go back to her grandmother, and Miho has to go to her famliy. Yukari's eager to see the home of the Nishizumi style (when, by all accounts, she should mainly be in awe of Miho herself), but Miho insists on going alone.

Next Installment: The girls take a detour before returning to their families, and Anzu gathers some unlikely allies to give Oarai another chance.
