Little Army 2 Chapter 5: Turning The Tables

As the Tiger's track snaps, Kita and Hitomi panic over being immobilized at the edge of a cliff while Emi, despite not being happy with this turn of events, tries to get them to calm down. Kilimanjaro, [[Smug Snake quite pleased with the fix that they're in], orders all tanks to fire on them, and even the Matildas stand posed to bring down the Tiger with a sustained bombardment. Emi tries to keep to their plan of destroying the Black Prince, but is told that "there's a Churchill hiding behind them" (although from the panel and the context, it seems the opposite is true).

In the face of the Seiguro tanks' assault, the Tiger is forced over the cliff. Neko worries about them, while her underling says that they should also worry about themselves. Kilimanjaro is all but certain they've won, and Kanon from the judges is about to declare victory, but Remi informs her that the white flag hasn't raised. After taking a moment to examine it, Kanon withdraws her declaration and declares that the match will continue; it's an interesting first to see a flag tank's disabling being called into question.

Kilimanjaro's subordinate with the ribbon is shocked and outraged, but Kilimanjaro orders their tanks not to pursue the Elefant, which they can't catch, but rather, to go after the Tiger.

At the base of the cliff, Emi and the others get their bearings, and realize that they're still in the game, as they didn't roll down the slope. As Emi orders them to check on the tank, she notices that Nagisa's bleeding, but Nagisa insists that she's fine, and she'll treat herself. Emi tells Hitomi to stay with Nagisa, but Hitomi has Emi do it instead, since Nagisa wants Emi by her side.

Nagisa is feeling better, but the crew knows that the Elefant might not make it. Nagisa notices that Emi seems relatively calm in spite of the circumstances, while she can't land a single hit. Nagisa then reveals the possible source of her relatively poor performance in the battle; she wants to do her duty for her team, but also wants her sister to be able to face Darjeeling

As Emi remains silent, Nagisa recalls asking her sister what she liked about tankery, and Kilimanjaro(who didn't resemble Darjeeling so much back then) told her that she enjoyed facing other tanks head on. Nagisa then says that she feels guilty about leaving behind her sister and doing tankery by herself, yet another interesting contrast with Miho, who hasn't expressed anything like this. Emi suggests that Nagisa tell her sister what she feels, and face her with those sentiments.

A tank arrives, which turns out to be the Kawashiba sisters' Panzer II. They apparently survived the previous attack, as they were only turned over, and are angry about being left behind. They then get to work on the Tiger, and one girl who's part of the sisters' crew, impressed, notes that they're the two top members of the auto club (although she doesn't say that to their faces). Emi believes there's still hope for them to win and for her to meet Miho in battle, even as Seiguro closes in.

Kilimanjaro drops a rock on top of the tank and, smugly noting that they only delayed the inevitable, declares it's their win. Unfortunately, the tank they took out wasn't the Tiger, which counterattacks, damaging their tracks in a nice reversal of fortunes. Nagisa then calmly aims and disables her sister's tank, winning the match. Bellwall celebrates as Kilimanjaro weeps tears of frustration, while saying that "It's over."

After the match, Nagisa asks Kilimanjaro to continue doing tankery, having come to understand her after facing her head on. Kilimanjaro notes that Nagisa had "a great coffee," which she clarifies is a great match that forced her awake, and offers to "retrain (her) from scratch" after the tournament, an offer Nagisa eagerly and gratefully accepts. Kilimanjaro walks off after Letting Her Hair Down, and implicitly casting aside her desire to emulate Darjeeling.

All in all, it's nice to see Kilimanjaro showing a somewhat more decent side of herself after losing the match(of course, so did Katyusha, Erika and Asparagus), as well as show some indications of why Nagisa looks up to her, but it might have been nice to contrast her with the Nishizumi sisters more.

The Bellwall team exults, declaring that they're heading to Oarai, although it's possible that depending on what they draw in the tournament, or how it's set up, they might not face Miho for a while, as they only earned the right to compete. Compare Saki Achiga-hen, in which Achiga must reach the finals for a chance to see their old friend Nodoka again, which requires facing the champions first. Depending on how long Little Army 2 is, Bellwall may have a long way to go before facing Miho.

Next Installment: During a difficult student council work session, Momo upsets Yuzu and must find a way to get through to her.

Actually, it's a different girl who said that the Kawashiba sisters are the two top Auto club members . She is also has twintails and she was the other crew of the Panzer II with the twin sisters. BTW, the first volume of this manga that was released recently had a couple of corrections(the Centurion of Kilimanjaro became a Black Prince) and additions like the names of all Bellwall Academy Senshado members. Hopefully, we get the names translated soon.

Jamibu,

I see what you mean and made the changes.

That's some interesting explanation, and it does explain why Kilimanjaro was boasting about her Centurion, but ended up crewing a Black Prince.
