Chapter 30: On The Steps of the Palace

Amaterasu: Though I regret that I was not present at the punishment of those hypocritical Archangels, one villain still remains: the Dark Lord Lucifer. Among those responsible for laying waste to my country, he is just as guilty if not more than they are. Japan will never know peace for as long as he lives, and thus we set out to righteously destroy him. I hear this young knight, Sir Flynn, speak of someone he knows by the name of "Walter"... could this be the Child of Carnage prophesied by Lady Lilith? If so, I rather doubt we shall be retrieving him alive...

It's time to raid the final dungeon of the game: Lucifer Palace. With Isabeau busy evacuating Mikado, Flynn and his demons must go it alone, and retrieve the Great Spirit of Spite needed by Masakado. So, where is this dungeon? Why, it's been erected over the source of the demon invasion itself: Camp Ichigaya!

Queen Mab: Hee hee hee... There is indeed strong magic about this place... why do you suppose you keep coming back?

Kartikeya: Maybe because it's the source of the infestation, duh! How ya doin', kid? I'm Kartikeya. God of war and all that, and I...

(KARTIKEYA sees KALI, grinning a very wide grin and extending all six of her arms as though she wants to hug him)

Kartikeya: Aww HELL naw! No way am I coming with you when Mom's that way!

Flynn: That's your mother? Why's everyone so afraid of being hugged by her, anyway?

Kartikeya: 'cause she's nuts, man! Even in her Parvati form she can liquefy bones with her hugs! I used to be six kids - six! Then she hugged me and... and...

Ganesha: It's okay, Kartikeya. She understands...

(Suddenly, a man with no head appears!)

Peri: EEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

Tokisada: My apologies. Ever since I died I found I court that reaction a lot. My name is Amakusa Shiro Tokisada. You can call me Francisco if you want.

Flynn: O... kay?

Tokisada: I gave my life fighting the forces of evil. It would be my utmost honor to join you in smiting this fell beast, Lucifer!

Dullahan: And you're damn cute besides!

Once you reach Camp Ichigaya, you will find the same sort of impenetrable barrier that surrounded Purgatorium. As before, never fear, Masakado is here! He swallows this barrier, too, allowing access into Lucifer Palace.

Manticore: He sure eats a lot... I feel sick just watching him...

Step inside to find a gleaming golden palace fit for, I dunno, a Renaissance Italian duke or something. Two voices call out to Flynn, commanding him to be lost in the Hall of Eternity forever!

Flynn: Hall of Eternity? Not sure I like the sound of that...

Yaksa: Well, whatever this Lucifer's vices may be, it seems he at least knows to flaunt his wealth. That's a plus in my book...

Persephone: They say those gods and demons who live beneath the ground are the rightful owners of the world's wealth. At least, that is what my husband always said before he disappeared...

Yaksa's here, by the way. He's the next-best Brute and I've actually had him for a while; he helped to take down Merkabah. Anyway, this place's gimmick is that it's three rooms that repeat over and over again, each looking identical except for having different treasure chests. There are a multitude of identical-looking doors in each room, each leading into one of the other rooms. In short, it's essentially a very odd take on the teleport maze. Two of the doors, however, lead to the two bosses of the area, the two voices heard earlier. Only by defeating them can Flynn proceed.

Flynn: Well, this certainly seems like a puzzler... How can I find my way out of here? Anybody know?

Ganesha: I do. I'm the remover of obstacles. I know exactly where you need to go. These demons can't set up a trap that can fool me!

Kartikeya: Ugh. Ganesha showing off for Mom again...

Ganesha: The first foe is in the room with two treasure chests. Lower right door on the upper level.

Enter said door to be greeted with a robed demon. He seems to have a strange admiration for Flynn, and praises him for defeating the Angels. However, he has no patience for one who wished to uphold both order and freedom, and thus he unfortunately can't let you live.

=BOSS: LUCIFUGE=

Level 76. Repel Gun, Repel Force, Null Light, Null Dark

If you've fought Fiends by this point, Lucifuge, Prime Minister of Hell, shouldn't really be too difficult. He does have several annoying spells, such as Mazandyne and Stun Needles which he will use to hit your weaknesses when you least expect it. He has an extremely high Magic stat so bringing something weak to Wind could easily be your downfall. In short, while he's much easier than the Fiends, never assume that he won't be able to kill you. After you defeat him, you can fuse him

Flynn: That demon seemed amicable enough. Something of a shame we had to fight him.

Vetala: DUUUUUUUDE! You KO'd Lord Lucifuge? That's it, I'm definitely signing on with you!

Mahamayuri: Ah, a Vetala; they make very loyal employees, I must say. Though, why is this one stronger than me? The ones in my Tokyo never were...

Vetala: They didn't eat their vegetables, I guess.

Ganesha: The other foe is in the room with the three chests. It's the door to your left on the lower level.

Enter this door to be met with...

Alice: U-uncle Belly!? You betrayed us? That's not very nice...

Belial: I am right here, little Alice. Who this is, I am not sure. Me? Do I recall ever working for Lord Lucifer? Maybe? It's all so foggy...

=BOSS: BELIAL=

Level 76. Null Light, Null Dark

Like Lucifuge, Belial can be a definite threat if you go in overconfident. He has Maragidyne to hit your Fire weaknesses and earn turns and Smirks for himself, but the good news is he's not considered a "hard" boss and thus won't go into Almighty-spam if you 'karn yourself. He also has a very strange pattern wherein if you try to debuff him he will fully heal himself, cancel all buffs and debuffs, and then cast a Megidola, so unfortunately, you're going to have to fight him at full power. I think he also has Myriad Arrows. If you defeat him you can fuse him... which I already did since he's only level 53 for some reason.

Alice: Hee hee, that Belly was stronger than you, Uncle!

Belial: Yeah yeah yeah...

Upon defeating both Belial and Lucifuge, a pillar of light appears at the center of the area. Step into it to be whisked away to the second part of the level and Lucifer...

To be continued...

Well, given that the LP seems to wrapping up at this point, this is likely the best place to ask: Should we expect to see any of the DLC here?
