An Unfamiliar Ceiling

Shirou. You Wake Up in a Room. You comment on every unfamiliar thing but the ceiling.

We get to find out how Shirou came to live with Kerry, and what happened afterwards.

Ah, Shirou-kum, you believe in Magic?

We find out that our friend is a true Mr. Fixit. Aaaand... we have a scene about his relationship to Matou Sakura.

The sexism.

The sheer sexism that the two of them display.

It is astounding!

Sakura, I had pegged you as House Hufflepuff at first, but now it's clear to me you belong to House Elf. Dobby himself would be embarassed by your pushy, overwhelming selflessness.

As for Shirou, his praise of her is all in terms of how feminine and domestic he is, and how physically attractive he finds her. Truly, I am appalled and repelled.

They're obviously very fond of each other. Aren't they the perfect couple?

Oh. Oh my. We have a Sensei-chan on our hands...

Talk about Mundane Utility...

AW, RIN, THAT IS ONE SNAZZY OUTFIT! SWAG! Why didn't you show it to us before?!

... Why is he friends with Matou? Of all the characters seen so far, he is almost on Archer's level of rudeness, except he's more bitchy and passive-aggressive about it.

All this talk about bowstrings makes me nostalgic...

... Fujimura, the first casualty of the Holy Grail War. Like in similar cases during Operation Desert Storm, she did not die at the hands of the enemy.

... Oh, looks like she did not die at all. A beautiful swrodswoman brought some meat, huh?

Fate Zero had discussions on the meaning of kingship, chivalry, and war. Perhaps Stay Night will involve discussions on the meaning of heroism?

Ah, gotta love that Mood Whiplash. From domestic nonsense and schoolyard tomfoolery to dark alleys and death threats in two frames! People complain about that in Code Geass, but not here. Why? Well, the transitions are surprisingly seamless... I still need to figure out how Nasu pulls it off...

So Shirou wants to become a Paragon of Justice.

There's so many things wrong with that, I don't know where to start...

You want to take her home with you, Shirou? So do I. Given what I've seen of you so far, it would be Out of Character to just stay and rest, let alone "play with tiger", what kind of idiot programmed that option in there? Plus, didn't we agree that the streets were dangerous? Heck, why take her home at all? Baby, it's cold out there!

The teacher volounteers, Emiya, in private, demonstrates how much he sucks at magic, and both he and I call it a night. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZ Zzzzzzzzz

Yeah, a lot of the story will be about what being a hero means, and it certainly will put Shirou through the grinder for his wish.
