Padok has figured out a cure for the genophage. To distribute it, he needs the Shroud, a salarian facility installed on Tuchanka to repair its atmosphere. The turians and salarians later used it to spread the genophage to all krogan.

The Reapers are thinking along the same lines as Padok though and plan to use the Shroud to (further) poison Tuchanka's atmosphere. To deal with the Destroyer-class Reaper guarding the Shroud, Primarch Victus agrees to send in a squad of turian fighters while the krogan send in an armed convoy. Eve has to come along so Padok can put the finishing touches on the cure.

Before he sets out, Fail Shep is contacted by Dalatrass Linron, who offers him a deal: the salarians sabotaged the Shroud so it would weaken the genophage cure so it wouldn't work. The krogan would be fooled long enough to win the war. (Un)fortunately, Padok will most likely detect the sabotage and can repair it. If Fail Shep prevents this from happening, Linron will contribute the salarian fleet to retaking Earth.

The krogan assemble at the holy ground of the Hollows. After Fail Shep fights off a few husks, he finds Wrex arguing with his half-brother Wreav over Padok's presence. It looks like their argument is going to devolve into a civil war, but Eve gives a Rousing Speech and all is well.

The plan gets derailed rather quickly. The road the convoy is traveling on is damaged, delaying the krogan. The turian fighter squad gets too close to the Destroyer and gets its ass kicked without krogan support. One of the fighters crashes near Fail Shep, separating him from the convoy.

Fail Shep travels through the ruins of an ancient krogan city built as a shrine to Kalros, the "Mother of All Thresher Maws," who lairs closeby. After Fail Shep reunites with the krogan, Eve reveals that she has come up with a plan to use Kalros to destroy the Destroyer (sorry): they lure Kalros to the Shroud and then use some maw hammers to provoke her into kicking Repear ass. Wreav gets himself killed in the process of luring the Maw.

Fail Shep faces off against a Reaper that doesn't seem to like killing people. It takes about a minute of standing out of cover for it to fire its instant death laser at Fail Shep. After a bit of dashing, the turians return and distract its laser. Now all Fail Shep has to worry about are getting squished by the Destroyer and infinitely respawning Elite Mooks.

Fail Shep activates the maw hammers and KALROS SMASH!!!!11

Fail Shep tells his squadmates (Liara and EDI, FYI) to stay behind while he helps Padok distribute the cure. And by that, I mean shooting Padok in the back so he can't distribute the cure. Also, Eve died in the process of synthesizing the cure. Padok could have saved her if he had Maelon's data, but some asshole destroyed it. The Shroud gets blown up from the damage it sustained during the Destroyer fight and from the strain of distributing the ruined cure, so it can't be used to distribute the cure correctly. Given how many krogan are likely to get killed by the Reapers, it is likely there won't be enough of them left after the war for a sustainable population without a genophage cure.

At Eve's funeral, Wrex informs Fail Shep that they are BF Fs once more, he is sending krogan to Palaven and will send krogan to Earth when Fail Shep is ready to retake it. Victus departs the Normandy after fulfilling his promise of providing turian support.

That night, Fail Shep has a nightmare where he chases The Kid while hearing the voices of Padok, Legion, Mordin/Thane (couldn't tell which), Garrus, Tali and Zaeed. For some reason, he tells Liara he was thinking of Ashley, whose voice he did not hear.

So, you've done everything you could have to ruin the future of the krogan race...and Wrex still thinks of you as a friend. And then Shep thinks about party members that have died due to his ignorance. I'm finding it hard to decide just how guilt-ridden Fail Shep would be at any given moment, especially since all of the chaos is intentional from the player's point of view...

In fairness to Wrex, he doesn't know you sabotaged the cure yet.
