My attempt to enter the gym was cut short.
N: "I wish to see the ideals of Pokemon inside Pokemon inside Pokemon inside Pokemon inside Pokemon inside Pokemon inside..."
This continued for a good half hour.
N: "...inside Pokeballs. The truths of how Trainers should be. And a future where Pokemon have become perfect. Do you feel the same?"
I woke up.
"Uh... sure..."
N: "We should have a battle. To make Pokemon perfect they need to brutalize each other."
Anthony vs. N
N led off with a Pidove while I opted for Omanyte. Omanyte soaked Pidove with a Water Gun. The Pidove leered at Omanyte, annoyed by having sopping wet feathers. It then began to assault Omanyte, who stood fast like a turret and launched more Water Guns until the Pidove was out.
N: "It is time for Muscle Murphy to come out!"
He sent out a very stupidly named Timburr, which my Exeggcute met in battle. Exeggcute did the only thing she can actually attack with and made an Uproar while the Timburr kicked her a few times. Timburr was so annoyed by the noise he bashed his head with his timber into unconsciousness.
N: "And now... I send out Frogbie!"
The Tympole glared at N, unhappy with its nickname. My Murkrow met it with Thief, then dodged the incoming Super Sonic. Of course, you can't dodge Super Sonic for long since it's an overpowered Final Smash that lasts forever. Then Murkrow dodged a regular Supersonic from the Tympole and finished it with another Thief.
N: "Right now, my friends aren't strong enough to save all Pokemon. I will need power... PHENOMENAL COSMIC POWER!!!"
He glanced at an empty Pokeball.
N: "Itty bitty living space."
He then walked away. But as he was walking...
N: "Bingo! I need Zekrom! The legendary Pokemon that created the Unova region with a hero! I will be the new hero! And then you and I will be friends!"
"You know, we could just be friends right no-"
He walked away. I decided it was time to enter the gym.
But first, a museum?
Attendant: "I RESEARCHING FOSSIL."
Other Attendant: "WELCOME TO MUSEUM."
Other Other Attendant: "GYM DISLIKES BACK OF THE MUSEUM."
I walked forward, where a techy looking guy was examining a Dragonite skeleton. He introduced himself as Hawes and dragged me around the museum to look at stuff.
Hawes: "SKELETON IS THE DRAGON. THIS IS A AMAZING METEOR. THE WHITE STONE SITS THE DESERT."
"Thank you."
Hawes: "WESTERN PENINSULA IS THE NACRENE. SAY HI TO MY WIFE FOR ME."
I went back to the exhibits. There was a collection of plates, a festive mask, a young man who was standing on an otherwise empty display pretending to be a caveman, Marowak bone clubs, and an Armaldo preserved in amber.
Armaldo: "Help... me..."
"Ah!!"
Armaldo: "Trapped... millions of years..."
"Uh... um..."
Old Man Admiring Meteor: "Ha! Gotcha!"
"...Great. The one NPC in this city who can speak normally turns out to be a little prankster."
I decided to enter the actual gym now.
Clyde: "Oh, hey, it's you! Have some water!"
He did the water-pulling trick again.
"Thanks!"
Clyde: "All the trainers here use Normal Pokemon because they're boring like that. You need to answer questions hidden in books to proceed!"
This was going to be a weird gym, I could tell. The first trainer's Pokemon had a 3 level advantage over mine. This was going to be an uphill battle, for sure. Thankfully I had my Riolu as a trump card. The second trainer wiped everyone except Riolu out. Riolu also grew in level, furthering the level gap...
I decided to step out and go beat up a few Audino on prior routes. I wanted a little more experience, but not so much as to make everything too easy. During training, Omanyte learned Rollout!
I then returned to Nacrene. Time to finish this...
