A Foreword: CHRISTMAS!

Welcome.

From the batshit insane mind that brought you the livebloggenings of Kickboxing Academy and the in-progress Power Rangers: Lightspeed Rescue comes...a liveblog of a Christmas movie.

And not just any Christmas movie.

It's...a relatively obscure one that, likely, most people (save for some Power Rangers fans—you notice a trend here?) have never heard of. Until now.

A Light in the Forest: The Legend of Holly Boy is a 2003 independent film. In it, Britta, the main character, somehow awakens the titular Holly Boy, the personification of Christmas. (Seriously.) And because of that, a battle is on between Holly Boy and the evil King Otto.

Oh, and to make matters worse, Britta must face her fears when she plans a stunt for the Christmas pageant.

At least it's marginally better than Kickboxing Academy, that's for damn sure.

Oh, yes, the actors. Well, prepare yourselves for a Playing Against Type, because the character of Holly Boy is played by none other than Christopher Khayman Lee. Seriously. Here, it looks like Christopher is actually not playing a Jerkass or Designated Hero.

Thank God. We need more roles like that for him.

As for Britta? She is played by Danielle Nicolet, whom some of you may remember as Caryn from 3rd Rock from the Sun. And she has played bit parts in film and TV shows, including the TV movie Red Faction: Origins.

And as for the other actors we'll get to see? Well, they include Lindsay Wagner, who some of you remember as the titular Bionic Woman in the short-lived remake series of the same name, and the late, great Edward Laurence Albert. And, according to IMDB, Robert Axelrod as Judge Chester.

...dear God. Not only is Andros in the film, but so do Wes' dad and the voice actor for Lord fucking Zedd! And no, all three do not fight each other, I guess. I could be wrong, though. But hey, here's your obligatory weird-as-hell team-up of the likes that the Power Rangers series itself has never tackled.

Oh, and did I mention that this movie is The Film of the Book adaptation of The Legend of Hollyboy, written by Frank Latino? And the director, John Carl Buechler, directed such films as Friday the 13th Part VII and freaking Troll?

Anyway, that's enough of the "did you know...?", let's try to wrap this foreword up.

In this liveblog, while you can watch the movie for free on You Tube, I'm going to split this one up into parts. I'll try to review the first, oh...ten minutes of the film or so. And then I'll review the next 10 minutes, and so on and so forth.

And why am I liveblogging this movie this time instead of, oh, near-Christmas? Consider it an early Christmas present. :P One final thing, though? Do not confuse this movie with The Light in the Forest. That's completely different.

So soon, we'll dive right in with A Light in the Forest: The Legend of Holly Boy!
