Part Two: Oh, trust me, Madoka, you will... You will...

Alright, when we last left off the story, we're introduced to nearly all the characters save for Kyousuke and Kyouko. I giggled at the fact that they both start with "Kyou". Let's start chapter 2!

So Mami introduces herself and tells them that she made a Deal with the Devil... Although we don't know that yet. Madoka wakes up and believes it's another dream. However Kyubey pops up and tells her other wise. Okay, seriously Kyubey, stop reminding me of Puck. I know we haven't hit Cerebus Syndrome yet, but the silly emotions are getting to me. I'm trying to stop myself from imagining what would happen if Madoka didn't go dark and so far, it's not working. Sure, the emotions are funny, but again, this is Madoka we're talking about. Next chapter is where it drops the cute act for Pete's sake.

Anyways, Kyubey has it so that other people can't see him unless they are Puella Magi or granted the ability to see him by Puella Magi. This is probably to prevent people from kicking his ass. For good reasons. So we wind up the clock to last night as we see what happened to the girls after Mami saved them. So as we see, Mami's place is empty. Well, if you don't count the Blu Ray version in which Mami has tons of shit at her house. Kyubey explains his initial shtick, that he can turn girls into Puella Magi in exchange for a wish. He also explains that Witches are the Evil Counterpart to the Puella Magi. The Magi scatter hope while the Witches spread despair. So wait... could a Witch make a Puella Magi into a... No... We don't know that for 6 more chapters. Mami explains that she fights Cosmic Horrors every day with her life (foreshadowing much?) and tells them that they should think about it carefully before making the wish. Oh and they talk about how Puella Magi fight over grief seeds and turf, but its a plot thread that is sadly underdeveloped. However, that's what you get with twelve chapters.

So Mami asks Madoka and Sayaka to come with her and see her fight a Cosmic Horror, thinking it would be a nice way to see what a Puella Magi does for the rest of her life. Yes, show them Hell and see if they still want to join. Thankfully, Mami doesn't take them that night and leaves it for the next day. They meet up with Hitomi and Sayaka freaks out over the fact that Kyubey is coming with them, thinking that people would see him. Oh, and telepathy. Hurray. Oh, and Hitomi interprets this as Les Yay. GOD DAMN IT! I might make a counter, but I'm afraid it would break after that Pun Counter from that Pooh's Adventures of The Phantom Tollbooth live blog broke. Oh, and no, Hitomi, they are not lesbians so you still have competition for Kyousuke.

More telepathy as they worry if Homura tries to attack Kyubey. Oh, and Homura pops by and gives them a Death Glare. They go and talk about what wish they want. Both Sayaka and Madoka are stumped as to what wish they would- We know what Sayaka wants, don't joke. Oh, and Homura pops by. She pretty much tells them "don't do it!" and leaves when asked what she wished for. I'm pretty sure it's because it would be a looooooong story for her to explain rather than "it's personal". Back with Hitomi and her Les Yaying. It would be funny if it didn't have it's ulterior purpose. Thank you Fridge page!

Speaking of funny moments in a anime known for it's darkness, Sayaka brings a bat. More funny emotions ensue. Oh, and Madoka stole the Madoka Magica art-book and claimed it as her own. And they laugh at her. So they go and talk about the Witches (oh, and foreshadowing in one of the panels with Sayaka's Dull Eyes of Unhappiness) and Mami says how they drive people to suicides, traffic accidents, murders, and this goes nowhere except for one scene in Chapter 4. Much like the turf war, this plot line gets underdeveloped. Oh, more foreshadowing as Mami says that Witches can attack hospitals and Sayaka begins to worry. They find a source at an abandoned building and they see a woman on the roof. When I read this part and saw the woman, I got a Kamen Rider vibe as I thought that the woman would transform into the Witch. Now I know that she's trying to kill herself and everything, but just imagine what kind of turn it would be if Witches were like the ones in Puella Magi Kazumi Magica, in which a grief seed enters them and they turn into a witch. I could see Madoka tearing up as she euthanizes her mother.

Sadly, we're stuck on this road, so let's follow it. The woman jumps and Mami saves her. They go into the Witch's labyrinth and beat up a lot of butterfly... things... Oh here's Gertrude. A weird Witch that I mistook for one of Zoidberg's relatives. Her personality on the Witch Card screams out crazy old lady. Mami's shots missed so she just decided "screw it" and wraps her in ribbons. Then shoots her with the hand cannon. Oh, and Filo Finale instead of Tiro Finale. Mami explains the Grief Seeds to our heroes and then offers it to Homura, who sits by the sidelines. Oh and this line...

Madoka: I wish we could get along.

There, Kyubey grants her wish, Madoka becomes a Puella Magi, Homura fails her mission and goes back in time, story over. But no, we have 10 more chapters to read. So Madoka ends this chapter by saying that it would be nice to help everyone. Oh, trust me, Madoka, you will... You will...

Tune into Chapter 3 to see where this show jumps off the Happy Days and into the Edge Of Darkness.

I am so sorry for that unnecessary reference.
