Armed with my newfound knowledge of how to button-mash Panic to not die, I wandered up to the west wing of the house to a room I'd had some problems with earlier containing a French doll strung up by its leg which fell down and began hovering about the room to a cheery music box tune once I picked up a key and then proceeded to, you know, bludgeon me to death. Rapid-tapping Panic made Jennifer throw her arms up, protecting herself from the damage and simultaneously destroying the doll. Ten points for Gryffindor.
I would describe the west wing of the house as 'kinda creepy' in the same way I might describe The Beatles as 'somewhat influential in the world of rock music'. In other words, I hadn't really gotten into this before, but remember that room with the crow in the cage I mentioned earlier? I may have forgotten to mention that it's very clearly an abattoir for crows? Yeah, and there's a ton of crow corpses that have been decapitated and strung up by their feet, feathers and all. And the room is covered in blood. Down the hall, that room with the creepy doll? I probably should have noted that it's a destroyed nursery. And that it's next door to a remarkably well-preserved study, which even has a fire merrily burning... with no sign of who lit it. Which the game cheerfully points out to you. A bit further down is the room with the piano I mentioned earlier where Scissors Man ambushed me. What I didn't tell you (because I discovered it later) was that the lights had gone, and after taking a few steps into the room a record player suddenly turned on, blaring loud, tuneless music. I quickly turned it off, since I am working on not being an idiot. Go Jennifer! Thinking ahead! ...Anyways, there's no -obvious- sign of why all the electronics in this house go insane anytime I walk by... well... I'll... get to that in a minute.
Next door to that room, there's the library Scissors Man busted out of the wall in. I found a scrap of note in one of the books talking about a 'demon idol' in the hand of a 'statue'. Well the hallway just outside is full of statues, and after a tiny bit of puzzle solving (which sometimes in this game seems to amount to 'look at item X, look at item Y, look at item X -again-') guess what I found, a creepy idol! The base of the demon idol has a cross shape. This is as good a time as any to note the thing I discovered just next door to the abattoir probably a few minutes before I found the demon idol: Using (I assume) the key I got from the doll room (which was interestingly enough labelled 'Ceremony Key') I unlocked a room with a big circle etched on the floor with a hexagram or something in it. And what looks like an altar, covered in lit candles. With a decapitated crow on it. And a metal dish with a cross indentation in the bottom of the bowl...
So when I picked up the demon idol I thought I'd take a look in the room right next to that statue and saw some dusty paintings and OH GOD THERE HE IS RUN RUN RUN.
...All the way across the house to the room with the cupboards or whatever that I failed at climbing over before. Luckily in the interim I had discovered how to move a crate closer to the cabinets and was easily able to climb over and OH GOD HERE HE COMES DON'T MAKE A SOUND. HE'S STOPPED OH GOD.
...
...He's turning around oh thank god. ...Glancing back into the room for one tense moment, then he leaves. I have successfully evaded Scissors Man on purpose.
At this point I paused to refill my strength (running depletes it) and to plan my next moves. I'm somewhat paranoid about hiding in the same place twice, at least not twice in a ROW, after what happened with the bathroom near the skylight, so I might try to look for a second hiding place.
On the other hand, I have a demon idol with a cross on the bottom of it, and a dish with a cross in -its- bottom on an altar near what looks very much like a summoning circle... what I'm planning next is probably very, very stupid. ._. But I'm probably going to do it anyways, since I'm running out of other places to look.
I don't know what else to do.
