Context YMMV / SuperRobotWarsCompact2

* AccidentalInnuendo: Given the sort of personality [[Characters/SuperRobotWarsCompact2 Excellen Browning]] has, in the ''VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsOriginalGeneration'' games, when placed at the controls of different units, such as the Alt Eisen, and have her use its attack "[[PileBunker Revolver Stake]]", expect HilarityEnsues.
* AdaptationDisplacement: Unlike ''VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsAdvance'' and its remake ''A Portable'', where both are pretty well remembered for different reasons, ''Impact'' completely supplants ''Compact 2'' in general mindshare. The only things that the average fan knows about the Wonderswan games are that "[[Anime/MobileSuitZetaGundam Zeta - Toki wo Koete]]" is in the game and that ''Galaxy Showdown'' is considered one of the hardest license-based games in the series.
* AnticlimaxBoss: As in ''VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsCompact'', both the FinalBoss and TrueFinalBoss of ''Galaxy Showdown'' can be obliterated in three or less attacks. However, both carry a barrier and shield, respectively, this time around to make things more interesting.
* SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic
** Ever wondered where "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AmdhnJbXzfc Steel Beowulf]]" and "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dMI2BE2Bqxk Hakugin no Datenshi]]" (localized as "Fallen White Knight") came from?
** The opening theme for ''Anime/NinjaSenshiTobikage'', "Love Survivor", was already awesome, but the ''Impact'' version is [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ULai8lcQ5iM undeniably one of the best battle themes in the entire franchise]].
* CatharsisFactor: Fans of ''Anime/MartianSuccessorNadesico'' who were displeased with Kusakabe [[KarmaHoudini getting away with all of his crimes]] will more than probably get a kick out of killing him in ''Impact'', preferably with Akito and Gai's CombinationAttack.
* DifficultySpike: The [=WonderSwan=] version of ''Cosmoquake's'' last stage is one of the more infamous examples in the series, combining EliteMooks, two sets of reinforcements, a huge map, and a time limit into a scenario that can very quickly be made unwinnable.
* EnsembleDarkhorse: Out of the ''Compact 2''/''Impact'' originals, Einst Alfimi takes it, thanks to her child-like demeanor and innocence, but also because she pulls a HeelFaceTurn before the climax and assists the party as a playable character against the FinalBoss. [[spoiler:That she survives into the ''VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsOriginalGeneration'' {{Sequel}}s and {{Spin Off}}s, while paired as a BattleCouple with [[Characters/SuperRobotWarsAdvance Axel Almer]], is proof of her popularity beyond ''Impact'']].
* {{Fanon}}: Before TheReveal [[spoiler:Alfimi was SparedByTheAdaptation for ''Original Generation'' {{Continuity}}]], there existed a lot of fanworks featuring the "Nanbu family" based on a final piece of dialogue in ''Original Generation 2'' between Kyosuke Nanbu and Excellen Browning if the TrueFinalBoss was fought - Excellen quips are they to ever have children, she'd want twin daughters, to which Kyosuke correctly guesses their names will be "Alfimi" and "[[spoiler:Lemon]]".
* ItsHardSoItSucks: Most complaints about ''Compact 2'' and ''Impact'' can be broken down to "it's painfully difficult", "it's painfully slow", and in the case of ''Compact 2'', "it's painfully outdated". ''Compact 2'' (especially ''Cosmoquake'') is said to be lacking viable units, while ''Impact'' has the most difficult-to-earn "Skill Points" in the entire franchise. The developers have stated that ''VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsMX'' being extremely easy is a direct result of complaints about ''Impact''.
* {{Moe}}: {{Zigzagged}} with Alfimi, who was already adorable for ''Impact'', but ''VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsOriginalGeneration: [[TheAnimeOfTheGame The Inspectors]]'' cranks it up to eleven. Depending on who is asked, the show might also extend this to CreepyChild.
* NightmareFuel: The Persoenlichkeit's strongest attack involves its {{Familiar}}s pinning down its target. Alfimi gets up close and personal, unsheathes the Lichkeit's katana and stabs it repeatedly, while using skewering motions. The sight of it already looks painful, until one realizes TimeStandsStill during the attack, meaning the target isn't even feeling anything until ''afterwards''.
* OlderThanTheyThink: ''Cosmoquake'' is technically the first ''Super Robot Wars'' game to exclude ''Manga/GetterRobo'', doing so five years before ''VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsJudgment''. In fairness, ''Cosmoquake'' is part of a multi-game series while ''J'' is a standalone game.
* OneTrueThreesome: Prior to ContinuityReboot for ''Original Generation'', it wasn't above many fans to pair Kyosuke, Excellen and Alfimi together, given the latter is a clone of Excellen. This died down after ''Original Generation Gaiden'' as a result of [[spoiler:Alfimi partnering up with Axel and staying by his side]].
* SequelDifficultySpike: Twofold, as both ''Compact 1'' to the ''Compact 2'' trilogy AND ''Earth Crisis'' to ''Cosmoquake'' to ''Galaxy Showdown'' qualify. Earth Crisis is pretty much what you would expect from a late-90s SRW difficulty wise, but Cosmoquake features a significantly less robust cast and throws in a nasty DifficultySpike in the final scenario that will heavily test the player's resource management skills. And then Galaxy Showdown splits up the player's party and slowly re-adds them while sporting a drastically-lower ArbitraryHeadcountLimit at most points.
* ThatOneLevel
** The final scenario of ''Cosmoquake'' "Into the Quaking Cosmos" - players are faced against more than a dozen [[Anime/{{Dancougar}} Dirad Battle Mecha]] {{Mook}}s with 18000 {{Hit Point}}s and 30% HitPoint Regeneration[[note]]To put this into perspective, a well-upgraded attack might only deal roughly 3000-4000 damage without the use of "Spirit Commands"[[/note]]. After destroying eight of those, a large number of [[EliteMook Einst Gemuet]] appear, including a level 60 Einst Regisseur, nearly ''twice'' the level of all enemies on the map. If that isn't enough, ''Toys/MachineRobo'' enemies pop up when players end their fifth turn. Topping it off is a map that is rather huge with a 20-turn limit, resulting in a ''very'' uphill battle if players didn't properly prepare before reaching this scenario. Players can LevelGrind by using the "game over trick", but doing so will likely put the TrueFinalBoss out of reach.
