Context Trivia / CrashTwinsanity

Go To

* AcclaimedFlop: Although it has often been hailed by fans as the best non-Naughty Dog ''Crash'' game and overall one of the best games in the series, the game sold poorly upon release and it currently remains the lowest selling of the mainline ''Crash'' games, with even the much [[ContestedSequel contested]] ''[[VideoGame/CrashOfTheTitans Titans]]'' [[VideoGame/CrashMindOverMutant games]] selling better in comparison.
* ActingForTwo:
** Mel Winkler reprises his role as Aku Aku and has a minor role as a tribesman.
** In addition to reprising his role as N. Tropy, Michael Ensign voices a tribesman.
** Susan Silo voices Madame Amberley and Nina Cortex.
** Creator/DebiDerryberry voices both Coco Bandicoot and the younger Neo Cortex.
** Alex Fernandez voices Uka Uka and Farmer Ernest.
** Creator/DwightSchultz voices Papu Papu (and one of the tribesmen), Dingodile and the walrus cook who pursues Crash.
** Creator/QuintonFlynn voices N. Gin and [[PlayingTheirOwnTwin the Evil Twins]].
* CreatorKiller: Poor reviews and poor sales of the game were the final nail in the coffin for Creator/TravellersTales Oxford, and they would shut down as a result.
* DeletedScene: There are many cutscenes that ended up reaching the storyboard stage, with some even being voiced, but unfortunately [[WhatCouldHaveBeen had to be cut like a lot of other content in the game]]. [[https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL9D33F6B9DDDBF83C Some can be viewed here]].
* DevelopmentGag: Before the snowboarding level where Crash and Cortex had to save Nina from Evil Crash, Cortex mistakingly referred to her as his daughter then corrects himself to niece. This was a reference to when Nina was originally intended to be Cortex's daughter in the early stages of ''VideoGame/CrashNitroKart'''s development.
* OrphanedReference: Given all the game's cut content, it's expected a few dead references seeped into the final game:
** After defeating Tikimon, Victor gloats of the next scheme the twins have underway, the "Vice Versa Reverser Device". This references a cut level where you would pilot the Mecha Bandicoot to track and destroy said device.
** The final plot twist of Cortex getting teleported into Crash's brain references an otherwise unused level premise where you would enter Cortex and Coco's minds to retrieve information from them (the former was also designed to lead into the cutscene where Cortex remembers the Evil Twins).
** Some manuals for the game mention Coco aiding the main characters against the Evil Twins. Coco was in fact supposed to join Crash and Cortex as a playable character after catching up with them, though nearly her entire role was cut from the final game.
* TheOtherDarrin:
** The first game in which Creator/LexLang replaced Creator/ClancyBrown as the voice of Dr. Neo Cortex. He became the regular voice of Cortex from there.
** Alex Fernandez voiced Uka Uka, another one of Clancy Brown's roles.
** Creator/DwightSchultz voices Papu Papu instead of David Anthony Pizzuto, who voiced the character in ''VideoGame/CrashTeamRacing''.
* ReferencedBy: In a secret cutscene of ''VideoGame/SallyExeContinuedNightmareEyeOfThree'', Christy is singing the melody to one of the songs from ''Twinsanity''.
* RoleReprise: In an interesting note, this is the last game to feature any English cast members from the Naughty Dog games. Mel Winkler voiced Aku Aku for the last time in this title before being replaced by Greg Eagles in ''VideoGame/CrashOfTheTitans'', while Michael Ensign, who had reprised his role as Dr. Nefarious Tropy in ''Nitro Kart'', returned for Tropy's two scenes in this game. None of the original cast have returned since, including the ''N. Sane Trilogy''.
* TroubledProduction: ''And how!'' Deadlines not being met, scrapped concepts, the pressure of Vivendi Universal Games needing the game out, and too many ambitious ideas led to about '''a third of the game's original ideas''' being cut. The final product, while regarded as a good game in the years since its release, shows the lamented development cycle in many areas. However, the Traveller's Tales developers have been kind enough over the years to explain and show off various parts of the game that got cut, even supplying cut voiced dialogue and storyboards, all of which can be found online.
* WhatCouldHaveBeen: [[WhatCouldHaveBeen/CrashTwinsanity Has its own page]].
* WorkingTitle: When the game had a more serious tone, it had the name ''Crash Evolution''. There were many other early names given for this game such as ''Unlimited'', ''Fully Fluxed'', and ''A Whole New Dimension'' - until [[ExecutiveMeddling the publisher out of frustration gave the team 60 minutes to come up with a final name]] and they came up with the final name [[WritingByTheSeatOfYourPants with 5 minutes to spare]]. ''Unlimited'' was briefly the chosen international title, with ''Twinsanity'' planned as the game's North American name before becoming the title altogether.
